I think it's just a reissue of the really old one they made when the anime took off, except this one is based off of the Gen 3 remakes instead of specifically the anime.

Yeah, taking another look, that's what it seems to be. I wonder if they'll follow up with other regions, since they specified this is Kanto?

You could put the two boards together and make it Pokemon Monopoly HeartGold/SoulSilver Edition.
