(All of the following comes from what I gathered via the anime)

 

So people hate the Titans due to their senseless eating of humans in this series, as it is revealed Titans eat humans not for survival but merely the fun of it I suppose- or maybe they just like how they taste. This seems terrible because they're eating humans, and not just some chocolate cake or some other unnecessary food that tastes good

 

But consider this: at times the characters complain they are trapped in a cage by living within the walls, serving only as livestock for the Titans. Boo-hoo their plight is terrible and we should feel sorry for them, right? Wrong

 

It can be argued this is merely an analogy where humans are actually animals and the Titans are symbolically humans. Humans keep livestock, living animals, and eat them because they taste good- plain and simple. People can live without eating meat, vegetarians have proven it. So just as Titans eat human meat for pleasure, humans eat animal meat for pleasure

 

Bottom line- because humans eat steak, the genocide of their species at the hands of the Titans is fully justified

Fool. I wouldn't say that. More of the opposite. I'd say the humans are still humans while the titans are the animals. Only the roles have been switched in where the humans are now livestock. But still human.

This is what I thought too. It's a kind of representation of the food chain. The more powerful creature will generally eat the smaller (tastier) ones.You can see this in Mikasa's "the world is cruel" dialogue, where they show a butterfly being devoured by a mantis and a dead fish in her father's hand, basically showing that it's just the way things are in this world.But AoT also shows how mankind, more than any other species, struggles against this food chain and fight the course of nature. This is one of the things that made me love Attack on Titan.

Nope. Vegetarians still need dietary supplements [pills] that give then essential nutrients that veggies just don't give. And yes, seafood and fish count as animals. I hate those vegans who say eating fish doesn't count as eating meat because it's from the sea. -.-'

Im suprised this is in random considering Ive heard this theory plenty of times from people whove seen it.

Also,I dont think the fact that people can "live" with just vegetables doesnt really cut it.For one yeah people can probably survive with just vegetables and shit,but that isnt necessarily a "healthy" way to live,I have never seen a vegan or vegetarian whos ever looked "healthy."Plus,they cant rely on  those resources since they even establish that their is a shortage of these resources right from the get go of the anime,odds are thats all they would eat if they can actually get their hands on any.

Maybe Im taking a random thread too seriously,but people have brought up these discussions before,so its hard for me to see it as a joke if it is one.

But what if plants are sentient?  We do know they use chemicals to pass along messages among themselves.  What if this is an intelligent language we aren't able to engage in because of our different means of communication?  We could be committing murder no matter what we eat.
