Absent Silhouette Recommended Order?

Posted

Okay, so I'm reocrding KH2.5 footage, and I was wondering sometihng

when I played Final Mix, I did most of the Absent Silhouettes late, this time I want to integrate them smoothly into the regular game. I did Zexion pretty early, but I was wondering what I should do next, and when? I'm aiming for a balance of challenge versus the video going on way too long. I don't want to obliterate them, but I don't want to be whittliing away at them for 20+ minutes either

I remember Marluxia being pretty easy, but he has a TONNE of health, so OI figure he's best to save for last?

Zexion and Larxene are both crazy easy, so you can do them first.  Lexaeus is fine a little bit later into it since it helps to have a beefier strength stat against him.  So Vexen and Marluxia are your post-game fights.

hrm... I wanted to avoid post game if I could, maybe I'll do Vexen before the final battle, and Marluxia around when I do the Cavern of Remembrance/Terra

You really don't need to wait that long for Marluxia.  It doesn't matter what difficulty you go with, as long as you're about level 40 or so you're good to go.  Marluxia has two ways of killing you basically; the traditional damage to your HP, and the Doom counter above your head.  Doesn't matter what level you're at, the HP attacks do a ridiculous amount of damage, so you'll just have to dodge them.  The Doom attacks on the other hand come at you fast and furious, so it just helps to have a high enough counter in case he lands a few good combos on you (Doom is equal to your level).

Vexen on the other hand just likes to throw a whole bunch of different crap at you, so it just helps to be decently leveled for him.

like I said, my concern with Marluxia isn't difficulty, it's length. He has nearly ten bars of health, and I don't want the battle to drag

I should make it more clear,I've fought and beaten all the Absent Silhouettes before, I know HOW to beat them, I'm just trying to find the best order for recording purposes

Well in that case, get Ultima Weapon at level 99 and you'll have your self a 30 second boss battle.  :P

but like I said, I want to balance challenge with length. I don't want it to drag on, but I want to show off the attacks and reaction commands and stuff

Not that I've ever played most of the Absent Silhouette fights, but couldn't you show off attacks and reaction commands even at a high level? Just don't use abilities or forms or whatever that you would get late in the game.

Then just do it however you want.  =_=  All these guys have very set phases, and abilities associated with them.  If you keep the battle going for, I dunno, two minutes at a steady tempo, they'll throw pretty much everything at you.  The only one you need to worry about is Larxene since it's pretty rare to trip her reaction command.  Like I said, 'round about level 40 is the sweet spot where you'll kick their asses, but not too quickly.

the issue is being too powerful can cause them to skip phases, like ultimate attacks and stuff, also, reaction commands involve waiting for the right attack to p;ay out, so being overpowered can mean I have to wait around hoping they perform the attack. Being less powerful makes it more likely to encounter the command in the middle of normal combat, which is more interesting

I did them all by level 65 before I beat the game and got a crown on my save. In order I did Zexion>Larxene>Lexaeus>Vexen and then it took me a while to get a hang of Marluxia. I finished Vexen back around level 50 or 55 I think.

I went back and did them all though. I didn't beat them as soon as I saw them.

I'm not much help am I

I think you should fight each one of them whenever you see them for the first time.

Zexion is easiest. It's possible to beat him at lvl20.

I did them in the order

Zexion - lvl 22

Marluxia -lvl 30

Larxene - lvl 33

Lexaeus - lvl 33

Vexen - lvl 38

On critical mode btw

Zexion's acceptable if you already have Quick Run, High Jump, and Reflect.

The battle's way easier if you do the Fire loop xD

I don't know much about Larxene, but I know that Reflect, and Growth Abilities help a lot.

Lexaeus is a b*** >.<

Marluxia can be done right after you get Rumbling Rose. His attack patterns can be predictable, and you can completely avoid his "pools of death" by using a Fire spell when he appears in the middle of the room xD

Vexen... Final Form Firaga spam. That's it xD

When you do them and in what order is up to you, but to give you some idea of the 'intended' order, here are their actual battle levels:

Zexion: lv25

-Fight him after you finish your first visit to Haloween Town, which is lv24.

Larxene: lv32

-Fight her right after you get out of Space Paranoids but BEFORE the heartless attack Hollow Bastion, because you cant access Port Royal for a bit afterwards.

Lexaeus: lv40

-Fight him right after your second visit to Agrabah, which is also lv40.

Vexen: lv50

-Fight him as soon as you get to The World That Never Was, right after Axel dies.

Marluxia: lv80

-Even though I am under-leveled by about 30 levels or so, I usually fight him right after I beat Xemnas at the skyscraper but BEFORE I start the final boss battles. It makes the battle very long, but he has very few attacks that do HP damage, so you will be ok.

Interestingly enough, Sephiroth is also lv80, so I usually fight him immediately after taking down Marluxia, and then I go compelte the game.
