If you're like me and got a awesome new PS4 for Christmas, you'll probably be freaking out right now because you can't connect online. Just to let you all know, a hacker group known as Lizard Squad hacked into PSN and Xbox Live. So now both servers are down and it's impossible to connect online. Figures a bunch of jerks would ruin Christmas.

Well my 3DS and Wii U can connect online just fine so I guess the holiday is saved for me 

 

Anyway hopefully this gets fixed soon and hopefully they'll up the strength of their firewalls for their servers

No clue. I hope that by tonight it'll be fixed, but who knows.

Not saying this is the reason for sure... But it could also just be that the amount of people accessing PSN/Xbox Live with their new systems was too much for the servers to handle and they went down, and this group is taking credit for it. The Nintendo Network was down for two days last Christmas because of server overloads.

I think Sony/Microsoft would have let people know if the the reason was server overloads, but maybe you're right.

From what I remember, Nintendo didn't say anything about the server overload last year until a while after it happened. I also feel like Sony and Microsoft would let people know if it was something as serious as a hack. That's still a possibility, but I feel like a server overload would make a lot of sense this time of the year.

I think it's a mixture of both Server Overload and the Hack. Last year, some people were able to go through with Nintendo. No one is getting through here. Not only that, it's so bad for Xbox that you can't even go onto Xbox.com. It won't load.

Well perhaps they are trying to get to accounts information in order to get games or use a members money to their own benefit, all of this under the name of a user you know?

Some pieces of shit really wanted to take down the server to mess up people's holiday and jeopardize security. 

They could use their talents for something better.

UGH! I wanted to play the free FFXIV trial  If they steal money or do something really bad we'll probably get free stuff so I guess there's a positive side...

Don't know. But the "Lizard Squad" says that they will take both down for good. Doubt it though.

Well, I feel like they'd have to let people know if some sort of hack went down. A lot of people would be really concerned if some hack happened and they were never told.

It did suck not being able to log into PSN, but that didn't stop me from enjoying my PS4. Hopefully the servers are up and running soon though.
