Twenty years ago today, one of the most legendary RPGs of all time was first released. This game, Chrono Trigger, is considered by many to be one of the greatest RPGs ever made. Any other Chrono fans here who are ready to celebrate? Anyone plan to take a trip in the Epoch to go and play it all over again? Happy birthday, Chrono Trigger!

I didn't get around to playing it until a few years ago, but it's easily one of my favorite RPGs. I'm starting up a new game right now to celebrate! Just wish I had a version aside from the buggy PS1 port.

Let's not forget Yasunori Mitsuda. Or Yuji Horii. Or freaking Akira Toriyama. Any RPG with all of these amazing people behind the helm is destined to end well.

Well to be fair the directors were Tokita, Kitase and Matsui. 

 

Sakaguchi was the lead designer, Uematsu also composed it along with Mitsuda.

 

And Tokita and Kitase wrote it alongside Horii.

I know, I was just pointing out some other notable team members. Mitsuda's the name that I always think of when it comes to Chrono Trigger music, for whatever reason.

 

 

As much we love Chrono Trigger, we must not forget the sequel...

I wasn't forgetting it. It's just Chrono Trigger's anniversary today. Chrono Cross will get its respect on its anniversary. I love Cross almost as much as Trigger (After all, a lot of its team members left to form Monolith Soft), but it's Trigger's time in the spotlight right now.

I think I've heard good things about the DS version, but is the PSN version just as good, or even the PS1 version that comes bundled with FFIV? I'd love to see why people have adored this game since almost as long as I've been alive.

Definitely go with DS. PS1 and PSN version are the same, and like Square's other PS1 ports of FF games, it was kinda lazily done. The only really noticeable problem is the loading time, but it gets really frustrating really quickly. I know this because I made the mistake of getting that version.

Wow, I don't think I ever realized that I am not even a month older than this game... Absolutely love this game! Still caught between wanting the game remade in modern graphics and wanting to keep it as the precious masterpiece it still is.

... I need to get to playing this game at some point in the near future.

So it's just a few months older than me I don't considered it the best RPG ever, but it's an amazing game!
