Look, I don't have anything against SkywardWing, but this idea just makes me cringe.

 

Its so tired and cliche, even for Kingdom Hearts standards, and based on the premise behind it, It just seems like something that would only go down at the last minute just to create some extra drama or something. He probably shouldn't have made comparisons to Sora-Riku either, because that just drags it down even further.

 

Also I guess Sky forgot about the Armor fight in DDD, which technically was a fight against Sora.

Most of the theories people have been coming up with when it comes to KH3 are simply appalling to me. Sora dying. Kairi dying. Sora fusing with KH. Retconning the entire series so Xehanort is good despite the fact that you can't change destiny in KH. Kairi falling to darkness despite being a princess of heart.

DDD had more than enough of Sora being made useless and having his friends pick up the slack. I'd like for Sora to be competent in KH3, please.

Meh, if Riku didn't already do it in 3d it'd be interesting. But right now it would just be there just to show off Kairi's growth in ability...probably not her personality though

yeah, nah. No real reason. If any "fight" between them it would be sparing. If even.

I find the concept of them fighting very interesting, but now like this.  Just let it be like a little sparing thing or like how you fight Riku on Destiny Islands in Kingdom Hearts just use like training swords not the Keyblades.  But this whole Sora fighting Kairi thing isn't going to make or break the game for me if it isn't in there or if it is in there, just as long as it makes scenes like what I said earlier, not like how this guy says it.  Hell with that concept that I said why not let that be the tutorial kinda like how it was in Birth by Sleep where you can pick the person you wanted to be, sure you couldn't pick who you would fight but if they have that in here then hopefully they do add the option to pick who you want to fight as well so you could fight say Lea, Riku, Kairi, and maybe Mickey thought highly unlikely as Sora and if you wanted to fight as someone else your options would be the same as they are for Sora just replace the person you picked as Sora.  Of course that will only really work if you are going to play as those characters later in the main story of the game

 

Also Peach sucks compared to Kairi (come at me bros)

And for the love of christ, being relateable doesn't automatically make a character good! They need ACTUAL character instead of being a generic and boring Damsel.

 

Now, I know that Kairi will be more of a fighter in KH3, I get that, but if she gets no development, then it's meaningless. And also: "Love interest"....no. Not enough chemistry. And freaking Princess Peach has more going for her than Kairi does, I agree with that.

 

And for one thing: This fight is needless. There is literally NO reason for it other than "The Darkness". I know Darkness is a key element in a lot of KH Conflicts but...this one doesn't quite strike me as something that is even necessary.  

 

So, in conclusion: Kairi V.S Sora isn't needed. Unless it's a sparring session and even then, that'll be optional like the first Riku V.S Sora Spar. And Kairi needs more character.

well technically everyone can relate to Kairi, everyone has had those moments where we just lay in bed and don't do anything all day, I know I do.

Also I don't think it's really fair to be comparing two girls from different video games series where one has been around for a long time and as been in every single game where she can get some depth (though as much depth as you can get in Mario games where you are kidnapped my the main Villian in almost every single game and in some cases right in front of the hero as well). And the other girl is in a video game series that has only been around for 12 years and their is only 7 games of that series and she only speaks in four of those games (idk if I should count BbS but I am anyway dammit) Yes it seems so fair to compare Princess Peach from Mario and Kairi from Kingdom Hearts about who has the most character development how about we wait until the Kingdom Hearts is as old as the Mario series and then we will see how well Kairis character develops (spoiler it's going to develop greatly)

Anyway, Kairi being a plot mcguffin is most people's main gripe with her, she, as a person, doesn't contribute to the story, only her status as a POH does. When a character is defined by their status rather than the character themselves, everything they do means nothing really because their status is what gets them there, I mean look at her right now, why else would yen sid want to train Kairi, she hasn't done anything of note to prove she is capable of being a keyblade wielder, but what is she? A PoH, something she just naturally has as a status. She didn't go through the trials that sora and Riku did to obtain, or reobtain their keyblades...she was handed one like it was a piece of candy.I'm sorry about ripping on your favorite character, but I feel that people should know both sides of an arguement. I for one hope she does get character development, but I severely doubt we will get to see so much that it will be justifiable without taking up huge chunks of cutscenes that would be better dedicated to other things.

Lea has proved himself to be capable, he has shown his strength of heart even when he wasn't even meant to have one, he has gained a strong heart through his trials, aka character development. You just answered your own question with the trials that sora and riku went through to get their respective keyblades, though sora was lucky(maybe?) to get his, he rightfully earned it by showing his strength of heart, same goes for riku between CoM and KH2 by risking everything to protect a friend while he slept. Yes, kairi's status as a PoH of heart wasn't brought up in KH2, actually something even worse was used to make her relevant, the fact that she was sora's special one and the organization could use her to make sora do what they wanted. Hell id rather them kidnap her because she was a PoH than reduce her to damsel in distress because of love, but yeah she hasn't really proven that she has a strong heart unless being a PoH comes with it, which would again define her by her status. Honestly, the only things of note that she herself has done was instead of waiting on the island for sora and riku to return she decides to go look for them instead, seeing past riku's ansem form and reuniting him with sora, and.... I think thats it, i would like to say jumping into the corridor of darkness unafraid, but she is a PoH after all, wouldn't really effect her none. Would be like superman jumping into a pool of lava, might seem courageous to the normal man, but supes could probably eat the stuff and just have bad gas. Where as lea jumped into the CoD knowing full well that it could effect him, yet he had to go. But anyway, she is a plot mcguffin, that fact cant be denied, will she be that in KH3, like i said, hopefully not, but she is definitely going to need a character overhaul.
