Drama Between The Destiny Trio?

Posted

Would you want there to be friendship drama between Sora, Riku, and Kairi? I mean, I know there already was drama between Riku and Sora in the first game, but, Kairi wasn't involved personally. I'm just saying, there's always drama between the groups of trios (The Wayfinder Trio, the Sea Salt Trio...). What do you guys think? And if the answer is yes, then what kind of drama would there be?

No drama please. We've had enough already.

Peace!

The drama in the other two trios had a lot to do with one of them basically dying, and I doubt KH3 is going to have Sora, Riku or Kairi lose their heart or disappear into nothingness or whatever.

yeah, could you imagine?

Allow me to rephrase: I really, really don't want them to and they really, really shouldn't.

if we're being honest, Riku is guaranteed to have an arc about coming to terms with darkness, let's not lie to ourselves

also pretty sure Roxas/Xion/others will wonder if they have the right to exist

I'd really like to believe that they've gotten all of Riku's darkness shame out of their system after like four games where that was his entire character arc. I know it's borderline insane to expect things to be different this time, but DDD seemed really definitive about Riku finally getting over himself. Or maybe I'm just desperately hoping.

Also Roxas and Xion (not sure what others you mean, who else stopped existing entirely in this series? Namine?) would have to actually start existing again to even feel that way, and that's gonna take a big enough chunk of time as it is- though I am personally looking forward to finding out how the firetruck they're possibly going to bring Xion back to life- so I dunno how much story they're going to devote to two characters when there are like a dozen total they need to address.

Nope. I've had quite my fill of drama between trios of friends, thanks. If anything, having a perfectly normal relationship with one another would be a novelty.

This.^^^  I'd actually like to see some reuniting being had. ESPECIALLY with the Birth by Sleep trio. Hell, even Lea and Isa should mend ties in my opinion...

For a series that wants to celebrate friendship, it sure causes a lot more problems between characters than it seems to solve. Let's have friends being friends for a change without anymore fights, deaths, or strings attached.

What I'm predicting is that past!Riku will be a Xehanort and then present!Riku will have to "face" his darkness "once and for all"

God, I hope not, I'm way past sick of all the copious time travel. Besides, there's no way that would work with either of the two time travel methods they've already shown (a Timeless River-esque door would change the past so Present Riku didn't exist, and sleeping would be kind of impossible), and firetruck them if they introduce another method of time travel.

If they wanted to get really clever, they could bullshit a way to bring back the Riku Replica and make him a Xehanort, that way they could get their pathos without ruining the story even more.

there has to be a way to bring things from the past into the present, most viable candidates for being a Xehanort are from the past

or I guess they could end up using that book that can make anything appear and summon functionally identical replicas of the past characters, but that's even more dumb

but as a rule, once a story introduces time travel

there's no going back

Not necessarily true, but I get what you mean. I just don't want them to keep changing the rules on how time travel works, and the way it works now, there's not really any reasonable way to make an actual past version of Riku one of the darknesses.

Also, major problem with your theory: if Xehanort does have the ability to use past versions of existing characters, why not just thirteen versions of himself, or Xemnas, or Xigbar, or other people who are already on his side?

Also also, if you're talking about the Book of Prophecies, then what the firetruck, why did they introduce a plot device that can do literally anything, that's worse than the Sharingan.

the simple reason is that Xehanort is following some sort of elaborate prophecy that seems to rely on 13 separate people fighting 7 separate people, but he's vain enough that he wants to be all thirteen at once.

Or, an outside of the plot answer. Thirteen clones of Xehanort would be boring, and the villain's plan in all the previous games have been incredibly roundabout and superfluous ("I've got it, I need Sora to defeat heartless. So I'll tell him that beating heartless is bad, this would make him doubt himself, which will make him angry, which will make him push past his doubt and continue to fight heartless! I'm a genius!")

Like, the other games have already done stuff with that. Sora has already been through a lot with not being a Keyblade Master, saving the worlds, etc., Riku... Don't get me started, and Kairi has been sadly neglected by the creators for a long time now.

Logically, that would mean that if there was to be drama, it would be centered on her somehow. If something bad happens to my [along with some rare others who also care about her] precious widdle pwincess gets hurt, someone gon git hurt!

There's also the idea of a fight between Riku and Sora with only one walking away, but that will rustle a lot of jimmies...

I'll be honest, I thought this post was about Skittsoul at first.

As long as there's no love triangles, I'm indifferent towards it.
