A few of my personal favorites are:

  • Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood - Honestly, this show is just all around fantastic. The only reason I would ever not recommend this anime is if you flat out don't like fantasy or light sci-fi elements. Seriously just a well put together show in every regard.
  • Madoka Magica - The whole magical girl thing can be a bit off putting, but the storyline and characters are fantastic, plus the art and animation are great as well.
  • Death Parade - Thought provoking and intense is what I'd call it. It deals with some mature themes, not in a way where it seems like its trying to be edgy, but in a legitimately mature way. Brings up some interesting philosophical ideas as well. Note: The intro theme is completely different in tone from the show, so keep that in mind if you do watch it.
  • Gurren Lagann - Turn off your brain and enjoy. Crazy, over the top action and somewhat nonsensical story that create insane levels of hype. The characters are full of personality and their interactions are fun. Even if the story isn't necessarily the best, its still very enjoyable and will definitely hit you right in the feels at some points.

For the record, Death Note is one of my favorites as well, and I totally would've recommended it if you hadn't watched it. xD

Awesome!  :D   Thanks everyone. Lots of interesting anime. Fullmetal Alchemist was mentioned the most times I believe so I think I'll start with that one.

I am surprised no one mentioned One Piece though. I was going to start watching it but then I saw the number of episodes were 600 something and still going on so I was like  :O NOPE can't do it.

Cowboy Bebop
