Radiant Garden- Keyblade Academy

 

Ordinarily, the Radiant Garden Keyblade Academy was rather quiet, at least by the standards of a school. Not much happened, and it was rare for any sort of exciting events to happen in the years of peace that the world had experienced. However, on this particular day, that was about to change. The Masters of the Keyblade Academy were about to send a group of students off on what would be the most important journey since the one taken by Master Sora and his friends in the past. The previous day, almost 20 students had received letters from Master Sora. Each letter shared the same message, though with slight alterations to include the name of its recipient:

 

Dear (Student),

 

Hello, this is Master Sora. I would like to let you know that you have been selected to participate in a very important mission. This journey could take a short time, or many months. I apologize if this interferes with your busy schedule, but you will be excused from all missed lessons during this time period. I would like you to convene just outside the Academy tomorrow at noon, by the fountain. You will receive further instructions at that time. I wish you and your fellow companions the best of luck on this journey!

This particular letter and mission were unknown to those who were not participating, unless a participant had informed them ahead of time. It was just the small group leaving on this quest who had any sort of knowledge as to what they were about to face...

 

 

Indy arrived at the fountain early. He hated arriving late, and as such, arriving at a meeting very early tended to become something he'd been known for. Noticing that no one else had arrived, he decided to sit down on a nearby bench, waiting for his fellow students to file in. He knew that his best friend, Raidyn, would be going along with him. Aside from that, he had no clue who all would be joining. He just hoped that they would all be ready for whatever they'd need to face. As he sat, he became lost in his thoughts. This mission could potentially mark his first time ever leaving his home world of Radiant Garden. He could finally go out and see more worlds. He could meet new people. Most importantly, he might finally have a chance to track down the person he'd been trying to find for years... He managed to look calm for the most part, though he could feel his hands shaking with excitement. This could very well be the moment he'd waited years for.

"Come on! We need to choose fast or we'll just get stuck with the least popular one!" Ember said excitedly, attempting to pull Somrene by the forearm towards the groups.

"I'm thinking." Somrene protested. He glanced through all the members of the groups. Of course he didn't know basically any of them, but he was trying to get a read on all of them. He saw Annistha talk with Zion, which seemed to end with them going over on the other team. He nodded. "How 'bout we stick with Annistha and Zather? So that would mean... Master Zion said her name was Rei right? Yeah." He said, confirming his choice.

"Alright! Then let's head over there!" The Ninja said, dropping Somrene's hand, and dashing over towards Rei, Nexus, and the others. "Higuys, mynameisEmberandoverthereismybrotherSomreneandwe'regoingtobewithyouguys! I'm super excited!" Ember said, speaking extremely quickly, and in her normal cheerful tone. Somrene brought up the rear, nodding to everyone. His sister had already said it all.

Annistha gave Joel a guilty look when he entered the conversation, but that changed to a madly hopeful look as he continued speaking. She grabbed Joel's shoulder and jestured to him after he offered to become team leader. The gesturing stopped when Zion placed a hand on her shoulder. For a moment, she looked like a child getting a pep talk from a parent, but it passed quickly.

"Thanks, Master Zion." She said, sounding relieved.

She let go of Joel's shoulder and gave him a sheepish grin.

"Sorry about this. My br- we don't handle groups well. I didn't mean to offend you."

She stuck out a hand to Joel.

"I would like to be the first to congratulate you on your new position, though." She added, brightly.

Meanwhile, Zion ruffled Joel's hair playfully. "That's what I teach all of you. Just do your best, no matter what. It's what I did...and now I'm a Master, a mother...and able to guide a new generation in their roads. May it be a road to Light, Darkness, or may they walk in the same path as Riku and I - Dawn."

 

With that said, she backed up. "Finalize groups people, I'll teleport you onto the ships in five minutes!"

For once, Joel didn't mind someone messing with his hair (even though it was already pretty messy to begin with). He turned to Annistha and shook her hand.

"Er, sorry for dropping in on your conversation. Anyway, this leader stuff is pretty new to me, actually, so thanks for the support," he said sheepishly. "Also, no offense taken. To be honest, I'm kinda glad that at least it wasn't because of me sleeping a lot. Besides, maybe next time we can team up and go to that one place with the siestas. How does that sound?" he added with a laugh.

Master Zion finally teleported all the kids to her vessel. Joel could only look around and marvel at the extremely advanced spacecraft.

"Thanks Saki!" Aello was already feeling a lot better about this than earlier. "And I am sorry that you got thrown into a tree..." She looked over and saw Master Zion start levitating... And then they were on a ship. "Woah! Master Zion's magic is so cool!" "So..." Aello pondered after Master Zion stopped talking to them, "we need to choose a team. I think maybe Team two, since there are less people on it so far. What do you guys think?" She asked Zar and Saki.

"I was thinking Team 2 as well! And I really want to learn that type of magic!" Saki said, jumping up and down. They're going to another world....So exciting! And with Aello...Saki didn't know why, but something was just forming inside him that had to with her... "I hope we go to Tranverse Town. That's where Nana is!"

Rei glared. "And why do you think Mommy didn't have a diaghter?" She challenged. "And leave Indy alone. I've already got him losing it, give him a break. He needs to calm down." She didn't get off Indy's back though.Zion facepalmed. "Firetruck sake." Was all she said, before levitating about five feet off the ground, preparing for teleportation.Zion then teleported the entire group onto the Forward Unto Dawn."Alright kids. We will fully split up at Twilight Town, but since some aren't decided well give them the ride to decide. Anywho." The ship came alive - they were on the bridge."Welcome Back, Goddess.""Oh you flatterer." She said to the computer. "Ceres, set course for home will you?" She stretched. "I wanna go lie down on the beach while the kids do their thing. Oh, set all consoles to off mode and route all commands to me directly." She stood on a center ring. "Don't need the kids mashing buttons and sending us crashing to our dooms."

Indy was surprised that Rei suddenly tried to defend him. He'd expected more teasing, if she were to go and make any more mention of what had happened. Her saying that he needed to calm down after it was her fault that he was acting this way kind of bothered him, but he was still at least grateful that she was backing him up this time around. Suddenly, he appeared on the Forward Unto Dawn with the other students. He was still in a slightly panicky behavior after Rei's kiss earlier, but he was still able to appreciate how nice the ship looked from the inside. Before suggesting that they find somewhere to rest during the flight, he decided he should probably take care of something else first. "Uh... Thanks, Rei." He spoke, then his face turned red again. "Er, for backing me up. Not the other thing." He clarified, worried she'd take that the wrong way.

Then, even as Rei was trying to defend Indy and it caused Indy to be more embarassed then he was before, Raidyn couldn't help but be amused by it.

 

"Well no offense, Rei, but it serves this guy right. You should see how much he teases me and Toshi here about bein' a couple. I mean, it's ridiculous, right Toshi?" Raidyn asked.

 

"U-uh, yeah, it's so silly," Toshi replied, doing her best not to look as flustered as Indy was at the moment.

"W-well, you two are always together. It makes sense when I make jokes about you two." Indy pointed out. "You just saw us together for the first time, and you guys see me way more often than she does..." It was then that he noticed two more people walk over to them.

Indy could barely understand what the new girl had just said. "Er... hi?" he responded. At least the new arrivals took his mind off of the horribly embarrassing event that had just transpired. "I'm Indy." He then remembered the girl who was still on his back. "... Don't ask me about her, I'll let her handle introductions."

"Friends. That's what we are, even if you didn't realize it. And friends, no matter what, watch each other's backs. I might be a handful, but I'm your handful, and I'm a handful that will help you." She smiled. "Plus, I'm selfish and wanna mess with you all by myself. More fun that way."

 

The pink-haired angel looked over to Raidyn and Toshi.

"Raidyn, do you not realize everyone says you two should be dating already. Like. Seriously. Seriously Toshi, how do you stand his skull? Thinker than a Star Destroyer, and that takes some work to cut through."

 

Then Ember...And Rei let go if Indy, clearing him in a single bound. "Ohmygoshohmygosh YOU'RE AS HYPER AS ME WITHOUT THE INSANITY!" Rei glomped Ember. "I'm Rei, Rei de Wynter! Daughter of Zion and Xion, lead singer of Walking on Light, and holder of most detentions for misuse of school facilities than anyone else." She said proudly...which was true, since she regularly set up concerts with her band in the cafeteria, gym, field, library, Master Sora's Office, and once, bizarrely enough, they managed to have a concert in Master Riku's office dismembered.

 

Rei, after that, hopped back onto Indy's back, arms and legs around him to keep up. "Anyways. Comfy~"

"I guess that is the best option, I'll head over there now to meet our other members." Zar said completely ignoring his other self, he walked over to the other members of team 2. "Hey everyone, and Max, it's a pleasure to meet you. My name is Zar, I hope the 2 of us can- I mean I hope I can make friends with you all." Zar said with a chuckle.

Indy wasn't really able to hide the fact that he was smiling after Rei's short speech. "As long as you know that I'm not going to take it all without fighting back a bit, that's fine." He warned her. "I suppose I do owe you this once, though..." He also had to keep himself from laughing after Rei informed Raidyn and Toshi about their lack of a relationship.

 

Once Rei jumped off his back, he sighed in relief. Finally a break... Just as he'd relaxed, Rei jumped on him once again. ... Or not. "... A-am I really that comfortable...?"

"I...have my methods, Max." He said, rubbing the back of his neck with a almost nervous chuckle, but it was mostly put on for laughs, then he relaxed again. "I'm no Assassin but I'm efficient. Hell, I could probably take it up as a job actually...I underestimate myself sometimes." He said modestly, then looked at Maximilian with an inquisitive look.

"What do you think we'll encounter in Twilight Town? A Wild Goose Chase? Dead Trail? A bunch of loonies who can't fight and try to pass off as threats? Or an actual challenge for those who enjoy combat? Like I do." He asked him.

Raidyn and Toshi felt like a couple of odd-ends in the current fiasco that surrounded them. They also couldn't believe Indy was holding up as long as he could at that moment where normally, he would probably be at his limit.

 

"Higuys, mynameisEmberandoverthereismybrotherSomreneandwe'regoingtobewithyouguys! I'm super excited!" Ember said, speaking extremely quickly, and in her normal cheerful tone. Somrene brought up the rear, nodding to everyone. His sister had already said it all.

 

The two then decided to introduce themselves to the new two arrivals.

 

"Oh hey. I-" Raidyn began, but soon found himself shutting up as Ember dispatched a rather fast-paced introduction of her own, also following Rei's surprisingly fluid motion of jumping off Indy, jumping on Ember, and then jumping right back on Indy again.

 

"Uh... well, uh, how about you? Somreme, right?" Raidyn asked the only other person being quiet as he and Toshi at the moment.

 

"It's very nice to meet you," Toshi chimed in.

Annistha chuckled and was about to answer Joel, but Zion's teleportation spell kicked in and everyone was now on board the Forward Unto Dawn. She grinned and smacked Joel on the arm.

"I'm in for a siestas land." she chuckled. "Good luck and I'll catch you later."

Annistha jogged over to Ember and Somrene.

"Ember, take a breath." She teased before nodding to Raidyn and Toshi. "Glad to meet you. I'm Annistha and my brother, Zather, will pop up when things get hairy."

Maximilian chuckled alongside Artemis at the man's answer to his question, "Efficiency is to be expected, a quality of a warrior or some such, but definitely a good trait to have" Max complimented the man, noticing the man's modesty towards himself as well.

 

Before they could say anything however they were soon teleported into Zion's ship, who Max couldn't remember the name of, nor did he really care to begin with, he hated being teleported, as he would always end up flung away by it even if it was short distance, while the others, specially Artemis were teleported safely, Maximilian was teleported with a impulse of momentum, which flung him into the ground as he rolled, "God damn teleports..." he grunted as he stood up, and shrugged of the pain from the fall.

 

He never knew why portals and teleportation spells had this effect on him, one teacher commented it might be because of his magical potential interfering with the magic of the portal or teleportation spell, something he couldn't exactly do anything about, which annoyied him greatly.

Walking back to Artemis, "As for your question, im hoping its the latter, I haven't been training so much not ot have worthy fights after all" he said with a smile.

 

They were soon approached by Zar, who introduced himself, Maximilian simply nodded at him with a smile, but below his normal expression, he had some concercn and worry, as the boy's murderous aura was something easy to pick up, and that he might have angered this 'other personality' the man has, "We're teammates, of course we'l become friends after doing missions together, just the way things go" he commented with a smile.

"Indeed. To not be efficient is to be clumsy or careless...or just being a senseless psycho murderer, pick your poison. In any case, I thank you." He said, with a slight bow and a smile.

 

Artemis was then somewhat caught off guard by Zion teleporting them to her ship, however he barely reacted but Max was flung across the room, rolling and groaning, cursing Teleports before getting back up and resuming his chat with Artemis. "You okay there, Max?" He said out of concern, but did chuckle to ease the atmosphere.

 

He then smirked. "It had better be the latter...I'm always itching for a good fight." He admitted, quickly slamming his right fist into his open left hand in a swift, singular motion. "And I know for a fact they will not be showing us mercy, so we will do the same. Whether it be with my sword...s, or my Keyblade, or some other weapon, Zion's bound to have an Armoury or Lab for me to tinker with things on this Dreadnought, they will fall by my hand...or by yours, or by anyone else here. It makes no difference as long as the Worlds remain safe." He explained, looking around to see what exactly was up with the ship they were now on.

"You know, Raidyn, maybe we should, uh, go see who else is going to be on our team..." Toshi said, although clearly nervous at the idea of talking to people other than Raidyn and Indy. "That's a not a bad idea," Raidyn said, having no qualms about it whatsoever. Raidyn and Toshi made their way over to Indy alongside Rei and Sandrew.  "Hey Indy! And uh..." Raidyn stopped himself. "Hmm... I'm tryin' to remember, but I don't think I've met either of you before. Have you?" He asked his teammate beside him. "I'm afraid not. But, um, I-I'm Toshi," she said. "And I'm Raidyn. It's a pleasure to meet you," Raidyn said. "We're in the same class as Indy." Funnily enough, neither of them bothered to question why Rei was clinging to Indy at that moment.

"Hey, you've got to be talented if you're here. I doubt Master Sora would have brought you here otherwise." Indy tried to reassure Sandrew. "I'm sure all of us have some sort of weakness, but we've all got our strengths as well. That's why we're all working together, we'll make use of all our strengths." He smiled.

"You'll do fine, Sandrew. There's nothing to worry about." Indy joined Rei in encouraging the boy. It was then that he noticed Raidyn and Toshi approach him and the other two people he was talking with. "Oh, hey." He greeted them. He was about to continue, but Rei quickly introduced herself, and for whatever insane reason she had behind it, decided to kiss Indy in the cheek. His face turned bright red, and he looked incredibly confused. "Wh-what the heck was that for?!" He exclaimed, even more embarrassed by the fact that Rei decided to do that right in front of his two best friends. "Y-you'll give them the wrong idea!"

"Th-thanks I guess..." Sandrew said to Indy and Rei as two others, identifying themselves as Toshi and Raidyn began to talk. "H-hello. Nice to meet you, name's Sandrew..." he stated. "Hope to be of use!"

"I see you know about weapons? I only know the basics so I have to rely on my keyblade most of the time, but it gets the job done." he commented, "Kinda weird though, Master Sora sending students in a mission to stop a big threat to the worlds" he said, "You'd think they'd send other more skilled keybladers, but its just us...and Zion, who is a master, and could kill me as I speak without any trouble whatsoever." he commented with a frown and nervous tone, hoping she didn't hear that.

Lucas noticed the group that teleported onto the ship out of nowhere and walked over to them as he noticed Joel, rubbing the back of his head sheepishly. "Hey again, do you mind if i join your group maybe? I don't really know anyone here that well and i never got to apologize for knocking you out. Heh. So, do you mind?" HE said with a sheepish smile.

Lucas noticed the group that teleported onto the ship out of nowhere and walked over to them as he noticed Joel, rubbing the back of his head sheepishly. "Hey again, do you mind if i join your group maybe? I don't really know anyone here that well and i never got to apologize for knocking you out. Heh. So, do you mind?" HE said with a sheepish smile.

Before Joel's arm could fully recover, the boy who had crashed into him (and Indy) earlier came up to him. He decided to mess with the guy, if only for a moment.

"Hmmm.... Do I mind?" he asked, his face going dark as he stared down at the other student with a piercing gaze. After a moment, Joel couldn't contain his laughter and dropped the act. "Nah, I don't mind. Welcome aboard! Uh, literally," he exclaimed as he extended out his hand toward the boy. And don't worry about all that stuff. It's all water under the bridge. Or fountain, maybe. Anyway, the name's Joel. How about you?"

The trip was fast, mostly because the Dawn had knowledge of any spacial shortcuts...and the fact the engines were huge. So, settling into a high orbit above the world, Zion turned to the students. She snapped her fingers, and a map of Twilight town appeared under their feet, covering the floor.

"Due to the fact we know nothing of the presence here, we'll be splitting up to cover more ground. I'll be making you all into smaller teams to cover the maximum ground but not have anyone alone." She flicked her hand out, and the entire student list appeared.

 

"Indy, you will lead Team Alpha. You'll take Rei, Raidyn, Toshi, and Sandrew. I'll be dropping you off at the Tram Common." She looked at the list. "Somrene, Team Beta. Take Ember, Nexus, Maximilian with you...take Sunset Hill." She pursed her lips. "Joel, you get to lead Team Delta. Take Lucas, Saki, and Aello with you and check the Old Mansion." Flicking the list, she paused. "Okay, Sybil. Take David, Dio, and Zar. You guys check out out the Terraces. You'll be near Team Beta in case of emergency." Making sure she got everyone, she paused. "Indy, your team will cover a lot of ground, but you'll be Delta Team's backup. Keep an eye out for any problems...and finally." She flicked the list away. "Echo Team will be Myself, with Artemis and Nephilim. We'll be checking the Clock Tower out." her eyes roamed over the students. "After this we most likely will separate, so remember - who you are with may not be your team. Don't get super attached just yet." She looked at Indy's team. "Rei was born here, so she'll be running point. If anything's needed contact her immediately. Ceres? Pass out comms."

 

A small flying drone dropped from the ceiling, and deposited a small earpiece into everyone's hand. "Use these to keep in contact. Any sign of trouble contact for help." She let the bridge die down.

"This is your Mark of Mastery kids. Don't firetruck this up."

 

And so, she teleported everyone to their starting points. Game on.

For Zion herself, she touched down on the ledge near Station Plaza, while Nephilim and Artemis were deposited in the center. She sat there, looking around.

"Good to be home..."

 

Meanwhile, during teleportation downwards Rei got separated from Indy, and ended up hitting the group hard enough to yelp. She had hit her butt, so nothing major...but she was wincing.

"Ow..."

Once Indy touched down at Twilight Town, he noticed that something was... off. Just after this realization, he heard a pained yelp to his side. He looked over and noticed Rei now sitting on the ground. "I guess it's not easy to teleport two people that close to each other." He joked as he went over to Rei, extending his hand to help her up. "So, we're exploring the Tram Commons...? I don't know how to navigate this place, so I'll let you lead the way, Rei."

Sandrew was, as always, quiet. Even as they set down. He summoned his Keyblade as they landed and hooked it onto his back via the clamps thst were attacked to his jacket for such use. "What are we specifically looking for, I'm not too sure about what it is were suppose to find on this evil organization..."

"Glad to meet you. I'm Annistha and my brother, Zather, will pop up when things get hairy."

 

Raidyn and Toshi greeted Annistha, while wondering what exactly she meant by saying that her brother would "pop up" as it implied something different than just him walking up to him or something in that same vein...

 

"Th-thanks I guess..." Sandrew said to Indy and Rei as two others, identifying themselves as Toshi and Raidyn began to talk. "H-hello. Nice to meet you, name's Sandrew..." he stated. "Hope to be of use!"

 

"Nice to you meet you too, Sandrew!" Raidyn said, with Toshi nodding her head in agreement, and also noticed how similar she and Sandrew were to each other.

 

Afterwards, Raidyn, Toshi, and their all teammates were off to Twilight Town to begin their misson.

Raidyn was already looking at every place he could. He was very excited to be in a new world.

 

"Wow, wow, just wow! This is everything I imagined when I read about this place in that book!" Raidyn said.

 

"You mean from one of the books that you're always reading from the library?" Toshi asked.

 

"Exactly. There's just so much that happened in the past, all kinds of worlds that Master Sora and his pals got to visit and have adventures on... I want to see them all!" Raidyn said.

"I'm wondering the same thing, Sandrew," Toshi said, feeling comfortable to speak to him due to their similar dispositions.

Rei accepted the hand up, sighing.

"Thanks..." She turned to Sandrew. "As for where to go, I have no clue. We got thrown here to see what's going on, and that's about it..." She bit her lip. "We could take a look at the sandlot or just head for the Old Mansion?" She suggested.

"No problem." Indy grinned. After helping her up, he decided to think about where they should go. "There are already some other people checking out the Old Mansion, right? Maybe it would be best if we went for the sandlot. I'd be fine with the mansion if you all want to check there, though." Indy suggested.
