Tainted Blood (RP Thread)

- Gabriel Stross -

Seeing the scene, Gabriel couldn't help but be mildly please with the demise of Uzume, and Peashy, also the demise of Plutia, whose's news of her death spread around the citadel quickly, the three goddesses were down, this was a great day, and the lab would be repaired, in fact it was already being repaired by the repair bots, although funding would always be nice, quickly nodding to Korben's order as he began to prepare the schedule on his terminal as he shot a glance at Yltriss, "Might Gabriel help you with something else lady Yltriss?" "Perhaps, some chatting?" the Ai commented, As gabriel frowned below his visor, this thing spoke too much for his liking...

- Maxis "Prime" -

IF He could frown, he would, if he could grin, he would definitely grin, as he shot a loud laugh at the whole scene, "How's that for anti-climactic? she goes all up and badass only for her goddess form to run out and get choked to death...oh thats just hilarious!" He said as he kept laughing for a bit as he managed to get a hold of himself, as he then crossed his arms, "So...aside from the sudden attack and she choking you, whats up?" he asked with a friendly and social tone, unphased by what happened.

- Mikhail Crad -

"Heh." Mikhail chuckled as everyone went by their business, "So slade...what do you do to pass the time in the rebellion's headquarters?" Mikhail asked the mercenary, "I think we should go see whats Yev up to...wanna come?" Mikhail asked with a normal tone, he knew the area, he just found the entire thing boring, it was a base, nothing more to it.

- Henry Hansees -

Henry kept on holding the house as the others went in to retrieve the woman, only for Fiora to bring out Jadis, then Mara, who was dead, he noticed that just from laying his eyes on her, he shook his head and closed his eyes as he felt bad for the death of an innocent, as he let go of the house as it began to crumble, as he simply turned around to avoid the oncoming dust and sooth as he walked to Jadis, Mara and Fiora, kneeling down beside Jadis as he looked at Mara.

"No need to hide it healer, I think the boy should know what happened, he did brave himself through the flames for it after all." Henry said what he thought was right, noticing Fiora didn't speak about her condition, which was clearly obvious to any adult who saw bodies before, meant she hesitated telling him, but at times like these, its best for the news to be said outight other than hidden, he placed a hand on Jadis's shoulder, to comfort him for the news, as he simply nodded.

-Jadis-

The moment Fiora brought Jadis into the cold, clean air he fell into a fit of coughs.  He continued to cough for several moments after she set him down, gasping for the cold air as it soothed his lungs and cleared his mind.  His head still throbbed from the deprivation of oxygen, but thankfully his vision had cleared and his concentration returned.  Weakly he propped himself on his elbows, glancing at Fiora and nodding.  "Fiora, you saved me."  For a moment he hesitated, as if battling something, before reaching up and throwing his arms around the young woman's neck.  "You didn't have to, but you did; thank you!"

It didn't take long, however, for Jadis to remember his sole reason for venturing into the house to begin with.  He jerked his head around, trying to find the figure of his caretaker nearby.  "But . . . where's Mara?  How is she?"  When Henry approached and placed a hand on his shoulder, breaking the news that it was best not to hide it, he immediately knew what had happened.  His emerald gaze shifted to Henry momentarily before he glanced around the man, noticing a mess of smooth, dark locks and a pale visage nearby.  Immediately he tore away from Henry and lunged under his arm, crawling toward Mara in the snow.

"No!  No, no, no, no, please don't say she's gone.  Mara!"--he grasped her shoulders, half-falling into her as he jerked her with all of his might--"Mara, no, no, please!"  He frantically shifted to face Fiora, his eyes wide with terror.  "Please!  Heal her!  She's got to be okay!"

But alas, it was too late.  Deep down Jadis knew it, too, but he couldn't accept it.  His young eyes had seen too much death in his lifetime.  He could not embrace losing Mara, not after everything they both had been through.  Not after he'd found a healer.

-Ariana-

The darkness took its toll on Ariana.  After the goddess had collapsed and fallen to the ground she'd taken a step backward, her hand clutching the air as it had Plutia's throat.  Her eyes shifted from violet to yellow and back again, her body shuddering.  It was different using darkness than usual, for reasons the dark-haired general couldn't fathom.  She glanced up to meet the faces of Maxis and Korben.  For some reason she felt vulnerable before them, a new state for her, to be certain.  "Yes, yes, Plutia is no more.  She was working to betray you, my liege."  She bowed her head in respect, before shifting her gaze up to meet his eye.  "Also, I came to report on the incident in Rhasolvich.  Apparently they rebels knew that we were coming, or had a base there, because they were fully armed and ready to take our assault.  They have very strong mages--and many of them.  Young Chrysalis and I were unprepared and did not have enough backup, but next time they will not be so fortunate."

Would there be a next time, though? A small voice in her suggested there would not be, but she tried to shove it from her mind and concentrate, something she found most difficult when her breath came out ragged and she felt her legs shaking under her weight.  Finally she turned to Maxis.  "You're not half-bad, Maxis.  You came at a good time."  It was her way of demonstrating thanks; never could she be so humble as to thank him personally.  "Besides that, not very much is 'up,' or at least not to which I am privy to.  If you will excuse me, I am drained from my ventures in Rhasolvich and desire rest.  Come, pet!"  She gripped Chrysalis's upper arm tightly, beginning to turn away.

-Yevgeni-

A grin spread across Yev's face.  Perhaps Cobica wouldn't be so bad, after all.  He had a sense of friendship, that much Yevgeni appreciated, and he seemed that he could be a loyal ally if the need arose.  "Right, so, uh, which direction would Vortludo likely be in, anyhow?"

The castle was admittedly much larger than any base Yevgeni had imagined, and all halls looked relatively the same.  He wouldn't have been surprised if he could get entirely lost in these halls, something to which he didn't want to risk.  After a moment of their footsteps echoing across the halls Yev chose to break the silence once more.  "So, tell me: what was it like, being raised as a half-angel?  I didn't know growing up, but I did know that there was something different about me.  None of the boys would play with me back at home, my mother giving me special treatment while others thought I was a freak.  I never knew my father."  He was slightly surprised that he was sharing all of this; never had he shared it with anyone.  There was no one that he'd met who could fully relate, however, and never had he met another half-angel before.  A part of him was fascinated by Cobica, desiring to learn more about their race.  For a moment he also felt that he could fit in here in the rebellion, something he'd strove to do all of his life.

As they proceeded down the long carpeted corridor (to which was nowhere near clean) Yev noticed a large chamber to his left.  Peering in he happened to notice Mikhail and Slade, to which he grinned and waved.  "So, I made it!" he called out to them.  "I have been assigned to make some noise to distract the empire, and I anticipate it being quite the amount of fun.  Would you two care to join us, and where is Vortludo?"

-Victoria-

Two days had become the final verdict, so the Minor Goddess, weary, accosted Eclaire.

"I shall be away for a day or so. I will return before I am needed." She turned and entered a doorway...and disappeared.

Re-appearing far away, she unknowingly would be just half a town away from Indy.

-Chrysalis-

Whimpering meekly, she followed quickly, trying to minimize the pain.

-Yltriss Hyulli-

Yltriss admired the destructive force of Darkmourne, a dreaded blade with an equally dreaded horror of an owner.  Hers was a calculating look that searched for something.  Perhaps it was an interest in the sword that drew her gaze, or maybe the emperor himself, or maybe his cold and ruthless demeanour towards everyone but his precious right-hand woman Ariana.  She wondered if there was a connection beyond professional between the two, but her spy network did not give her any credible information regarding this.  Nevertheless, she kept close tabs on the two of them.  As the axiom says, keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

The AI's voice snapped her from her thoughts, reminding her that her smile had faded and needed to be replicated immediately.  She turned towards Gabriel and gave a modest, human bow.

"Chatting would indeed be pleasant, but my leisure time is up and I have no needs at the present.  However, I may have need of your prodigious services in time.  Korben has placed his trust in you most justly and wisely, being so young and yet so resourceful."

She pirouetted and walked toward the door in a mild gait that befitted a lady of her position, elegant and respectable, before stopping.  Only her head turned back.

"I've a thought.  I would like my escort of guards to be awakened before the night is up, if you do not mind.  They nap too frequently as it is and would, I'm sure, fancy a midnight walk to free themselves of the aftereffects of your pacemaker commands."

With that, she left.

"This was a memento of a friend," Rufus answered defensively, extracting the sword so that the flames danced brilliantly on its hexagonally cross-sectional blade, "and by no means am I innocent, like yourself."

Towering embers crackled and ate at the building, and a beam fell from the ceiling into the floor, sending sparks skittering across the wooden planks.  If there was anyone alive upstairs, they would not be anymore, and nobody was on the ground floor, of that Rufus was certain.  If he were to escape, he felt a strange blend of grievance and relief that he can leave without worry for others.

"Allitt, are you, or is it Indy?" he toyed, stalling for time as he prepped his back-summoning still.  "You are of a brace of simultaneous births, no matter your name, and your name is feared.  What brings you here so late after the Imperial party that attacked this village?  Is it sifting the town for your brother that spurs you here?"

Allitt

"Oh, so you've heard of me! That makes the introductions easy." Allitt grinned, happy now that it seemed like a fight would take place. "I would be Allitt Caelum. As for why I'm here, I happened to be passing by the town and saw that it looked like a massive battle had just occurred. I was hoping that I could clean up after whatever went on here. My brother's safe and sound in another place at the moment." She explained. "We don't have much time to talk, so I'm afraid that you might not get much time to introduce yourself. Perhaps you can do that as we fight?" She suggested, then quickly rushed towards the man, quickly stabbing at his chest with her rapier. She figured that she'd stick to her weapon for now, and maybe move on to her Tanzynite powers later.

Fiora

Fiora turned away from Jadis. She couldn't bear seeing his face after she explained what had happened. "I'm... sorry, Jadis. I can't do anything to help her. I may have healing magic, but I'm not capable of reviving the deceased..." She apologized, her voice now weak. She'd come here to help Mara, but in the end, she couldn't do anything to help. She regretted not coming sooner. She regretted not being able to fight and stop those imperial soldiers from destroying this town and killing many of its inhabitants... She suddenly remembered that there was still one more person they had to find. "I'm sorry to bring this up so soon after this happened, Jadis, but we still need to find Krea. She might be in danger, too." She warned the elf.

Derik watched as that man... Ryonne, wasn't it? Fight. He wasn't too shabby. As he slurpped up the last noodle of his meal from earlier, he grinned right at the man, drawing Sular from his rapure, presenting it to him in a way of saying "How about we have a little fun?"

Sandrew napped in the dining room, his exhaustion was very present. He texted Asha, letting her know that her cake had to be remade because of a crazed psychokiller trying to get Brooklyn (And his) powers, but it was ready and to just teleport to him and take it. He had made a second cake, though he may have added it was much better than the first, this time including a hint of nutmeg and some roasted Cinnamon, the taste of the batter afterwards was sublime.

Brooklyn sat in the kitchen, washing dishes as he did. Derik was always a messy man... Why Sandrew was so fond of him, he would never know. He sighed, looking over to the green-haired maiden to his right at the stove.

"So, I assume you do most of the cooking for those involved in this place, your expertise is rather high with the way you seasoned that meat."

-Emperor Korben-

After her words, Ariana called for her "pet" and began to depart as if everything was normal, but Korben could see otherwise. He could see the weakness in her body, her overuse of Darkness...her inability to determine her own goals in life...a troubling sight for the Emperor, yet deep down, he still cared.

"Be careful, Ariana..." He muttered quietly, then he looked to Yltriss, managing to catch her gazing at him with admiration and indecisiveness, before she spoke to Gabriel, who's AI spoke out of term much to the potential embarrassment of the mute.

He was soon enough approached by Rija and her closely following friend: Shinobi, who's gender and appearance were only known by the Emperor himself, the former questioning if everything was all right.

"Everything is under control now, Rija, Shinobi. It has ended with the deaths of the "Goddesses" Peashy, Plutia and Uzume....hmph, glad to be rid of those ear and eyesores." He explained, physically expressing the quotations of "Goddesses" with his fingers, showing some snark along with a rather done in attitude. "You two can return to your duties. The Mission Terminal is bound to have something for the both of you, for I have no special assignment on ha--.....hmm...actually, check out the Databases of the Empire. I need you to make sure no hacking has taken place...for all we know, the Goddess Incident was a sizable distraction for such espionage to take place." Korben spoke with suspicion, figuring there must be something more to this whole altercation.

-Slade Joseph Wilson-

Slade looked to Mikhail upon his query, his brow furrowing for a moment before speaking. "To be honest...not all that much honestly. After a Kill, or major event...or, heh, Bar Fight, I just smoke a Cigar or...practice, perhaps tinker with a few of my weapons or brainstorm a new weapon or technique, usually taking up the former with Arkham and he'll make it for me more often than not. Besides that, I just relish the time I have outside the Helmet." He went on to say, the Helmet in question now upon his head, hiding much of his expression and potentially familiar facial appearance to more savvy individuals.

He then heard Yevgeni approaching, with a far more positive demeanour about him, mentioning the assignment to make some noise that wasn't brought up that long ago. "Good, that'll give us more hands on deck for such a task. More people equals more noise, meaning more distracting. And potentially more blood." He quipped.

-Zanza Quinn-

Bolting through the town, while some of the flames subsided, Zanza quickly spotted something out of the ordinary: A fight was going down, between what appeared to be a respectable gentleman and....Allitt Caelum, one of the infamous Caelum Twins. "What's she doing here...?" He thought briefly before he gripped the handle of his sword while the sheath began glowing blue as he tapped into his Angel Powers to speed up the slice he was preparing to make...then he teleported right behind Allitt and took out his blade, slashing in one highly swift motion to start.

-Lucius Alpha-

"What do we have here?"

"The hell...?!"

"Come on, you are more creative than that, right?"

"What are you doing here?!"

"Ask a stupid question..."

"Wha--?!"

Bangbangbangbang, BANG.

"AAAHH!!"

Rapid fire revolver shots had pierced the Empire Diplomat's Feet, all from a single revolver and very quick hammer and trigger movements, causing him to fall to the ground.

"Holy shi--!!" "No-!"

Bang bang.

Two quick shots from both revolvers, one bullet to each head, put down his Personal Guard in a second, leaving the Cowboy-like Assassin and the "Diplomat" alone near their fancy car with flags on the top-front with the Empire's logo flapping in the low wind as he approached the floored coward.

"S-Stop this!! I-I am an E-Empire Official!! Korben'll-ll have your h-h-head for th-this!" The "Diplomat" screamed, trying in vain to crawl away.

"You know why I kill Diplomats like you? It's for the money, sure...but I know you're not at all Diplomatic." The Assassin spoke in a deadpan, deep voice, looking down upon the futilely scurrying Official.

"...it's because you have no balls."

"Wha--?!"

Quickly aiming his gun, the Assassin shot the "Diplomat" in the groin, prompting an agonizing scream of pain from the Official, while the Cowboy-Ninja looked at his gun, bemused.

"Huh. Guess you do have balls....well, not anymore, but it's quite hard to hit a small target." He then aimed the Revolver at the Official's head.

"Unless you happen to be me."

Click. BANG.

The Official flopped lifelessly on the ground, the new hole in his head leaked blood down his face, along with a few tears of fear from his now dead eyes, while the Cowboy Assassin reloaded his guns, twirled then and pointed one at the Official and one elsewhere near his own head.

"Bullseye." Twirling them once more, he holstered the guns and walked away from the scene nonchalantly, planning his next destination from here.

With her rapier thrust toward Rufus' chest, he countered with a quick parry and danced sideward (left if she is right-handed and right if she is left-handed), his eyes keen enough to keep a sense of concentration on both his opponent and his surroundings.  Hers was a simple fencing move, nothing too difficult, but if the stories of her were true she was an expert swordswoman and a sly adversary.  As such, guarding was critical and overextending out of the question.

It was a little short of a minute after he started casting the back-summoning spell, and he started to feel relief that he would survive the trip.  The spell was working on a time limit and no longer required concentration, but an ice spell now worked alongside it in his right, unarmed hand, draining his mana pool a bit further.

"Eren Hultro," he replied, using the alias of a friend of old, "a mere dabbler in potions and the arcane, and master of avoiding the blade of many a striking lass such as you.  Surely you can do better."

He slashed in an upwards diagonal towards her blade, hoping to catch her off-guard and disarm her, performed a balestra (a jump forward, usually a predecessor of a lunge), and lunged.  A minute and ten into the process would be the time upon completion.  If things got risky in the fight, he was prepared to teleport elsewhere, but there was a chance that not all of him would be teleported at this time limit.  He had to extend the time closer to two minutes.

The sound of a warp trilled through the air, and Rufus could see the image of a newcomer with a wild and speedy slash aimed towards Allitt . . . or maybe himself.  As soon as his actions were completed, he would steel himself for defense, silently praying he was still fighting one and not two.

~Cobica~

As they walked through the corridor, Cobica was silently thinking on some things. His solace was interrupted by Yev's question. Cobica wasn't against talking about his past, it was just that must people didn't pose the question in a way that forced him to. "Well, as you can probably tell, I'm not strictly half-angel." Cobica started, summoning demonic flames to his hand. "As such, I definitely didn't lead a traditional half-angel life. I didn't interact with humans either. There was only the occasional angel or demon that came by, mostly to insult all of us. The only friend I had was my brother... In any case, we had a happy life. Until I was kidnapped to fight for my life for several years. Then life was not so happy. When I finally made my way out, what I found was my family, moved on and perfectly fine without me." As he had been speaking, his tone had been gradually getting louder. Once Cobica realized this, he stopped speaking. Once he began again he was much quieter. "Since then, I haven't been doing much." There was silence for the rest of the trip, until they found their way to Slade and Mikhail. Cobica gave a cheeky grin and wave to the both of them. He had always been wary of the Witcher, especially with that silver sword. Slade was alright, but Cobica was pretty sure he didn't feel the same way towards him."Seems you guys know my new best bud." The Half-Breed said with a nod. "We were instructed to cause chaos in the Capital, where are you guys intending to go?"

~Ryonne~

His opponent floored, and the ref catering for more volunteers, Ryonne took the chance to glance around the room. He spotted the man he had seen earlier. Monster. He gestured for the ref to stop, then nodded towards the large man. Ryonne still thought that Monster was entirely too strong, potentially the strongest thing he had ever seen, but fighting was his strong suit. He wasn't about to back away from a challenge. The Swordsman got into a ready stance, and place his left hand carefully and deliberately on the hilt of his blade, while his other clenched down on the firing mechanism of his scabbard.

~Viridem~

"Be relegated to cook duty? Ha, as if." Viridem replied quickly, snatching a plate from a cabinet and heading over to the refrigerator. "I wouldn't do such if they doubled my pay. I cook for myself, and myself alone. Maybe Ryonne or a few others, but definitely not for everybody." She continued. Where was it... There. She grabbed the bright red bottle of sriracha from the fridge. "I had to cook if I wanted to eat back home. Certainly no one else was going to do it for me. So, I just got good at it." Viridem finished, bringing the sriracha back over to her work station. She added the pot to the pan of beef, and as it sizzled, stirred it. She glanced to the man she was talking to, then quickly furrowed her brow. "Wait a second, who the hell are you anyway? I've never seen you before."

~Neena~

Neena gave an overly sweet smile to the Caelum Twin. "Well, if you're interested, why don't we hang around town? Have a few drinks, then we can go back to my place and have some fun... On me." She said, alluringly, as she leaned in much closer to Indy. Her magic power continued to build inside, slowly approaching it's peak. Then she could deploy it, and be done with this silly act.

~Rija~

"Yes sir!" Rija said with a nod, then leapt back to her feet. She gave a quick salute to the Emperor, then about faced. Heading towards the nearest terminal, gesturing for Shinobi to come with.

- Henry Hansees -

Henry was genuinely sad for Jadis, losing his caretaker, a feeling he knew all too well, 'at least the kid got to see her...' he thought as he simply looked at Jadis holding Mara in his hands. As Fiora began to speak, reminding Jadis of Krea, someone he didn't know, but he also remembered something, where was that other guy that was with them? he didn't quite get his name, but he looked like a mage, "Speaking of missing people, wheres that guy you were with? I didn't get his name. I think he was a mage or something." Henry spoke.

"I'l go look for him, you guys go help Krea, i'l see what I can do from here." he said, turning back and beginning his search for that mage he saw earlier (Rufus).

- Maxis "Prime" -

"I thought you were beyond compliments..." he said with a small chuckle, as Ariana turned to leave, Maxis thought he'd mind as well go look for something to do, cloacking, of course, heck, maybe the missions terminal had something, after some walking he noticed Rija and Shinobi going to one already, walking up to them, forgetting he was invisible he leaned beside the terminal, "Hey girl, hey ninja" he gretted them as he uncloacked, revealing himself. "Korben sent you guys to do something?" he asked.

- Mikhail Crad -

"Hey Coby, hey Yev" Mikhail greeted them as he heard what they had to say, hearing them alll speak before him, he crossed his arms and listened "A bigger team is stronger yes, but also easier to intercept in a way..." Mikhail commented as he looked at Cobica and Yev, "So Eclaire put you guys on the suicide mission too? Heh, she really is serious with this isn't she?" he said chuckling, he disagreed with the woman's ways, but what could he do? he was a witcher, not a leader.

He then turned his head to Yevgeni, "Thats a good question, where is that guy?" he asked, looking at Slade for a second, before to Cobica, the half breed, something he was kind of indiferent towards, unlike mosts angels and demons, or even humans who hated half breeds, he himself was a mutant, so he understood some of the hate. "Anyway, you guys going to do something right now? anyone want a drink? since our last drink got interrupted by a certain imperial lackey...who made me use two of my bombs..." he complained a bit, he hated using bombs, they were a hassle to make. but oh so useful, specially dimeritium bombs.

- Gabriel Stross -

Gabriel nodded at Yltriss's parting sentence, as she turned to leave, his Ai accessed his visor and zoome in on Yltriss as she walked away, flustering Gabriel, but he was good at hiding his reactions, zooming back as she turned back to speak to him, He nodded again as he began to walk to his main computer terminal, his Ai, silent, for once, as Yltriss left, Gabriel began to access the soldier's peacemakers again, now his Ai began to speak, "She's cute, don't you think?" Gabriel didn't even react to the statement, trying to ignore the Ai as much as he could. "I hope we can meet her again." The Ai continued to speak.

- Dex Carther and Oryx -

It didn't take long for Oryx to come reapear again, "Plutia is dead...but thankfully I still have access to the empire's intelligence, through soldiers she himself controlled for a while, and...the emperor himself." these words surprised both Dex and Caranthir, as both looked at Oryx's shade.

"Isn't watching through the emperor's vision a bit dangerous to our operation? what if he suspects?" Dex asked, as Oryx chuckled, "Easily done with intervals between visions, I can see through his vision only for a few seconds at best...but with enough time, my influence will be stronger in him, allowing me to see clearly..." Oryx said as he began to cast a small spell which warped the room and the furniture to another dimension, visible lights coming off the windows of the apartment, as they disappeared from the normal dimension, into Oryx's pocket one.

"Here he is..." Oryx spoke as a portal opened. And through it, walked out a large, hulking figure, with a large axe and armor. One of Oryx's most trusted liutenants, aside from the warpriest, this one was the most trusted one of his regular army.

"Alak-hul..." Dex spoke, hearing Oryx mention him from time to time, he knew the thing's name, but not how it looked like, but it looked, tough, to say the least.

"Master..." Alak-hul greteed Oryxs kneeling down and bowing, Oryx nodding in aknowlegment, as Oryx turned into his real form, as he was in his pocket dimension, he could appear fully, without wasting power traveling through dimensions.

"Well, seems we are all here...now we plan." Oryx said...

~Cobica~As they walked through the corridor, Cobica was silently thinking on some things. "We were instructed to cause chaos in the Capital, where are you guys intending to go?" ~Ryonne~His opponent floored, and the ref catering for more volunteers, Ryonne took the chance to glance around the room. ~Viridem~"Be relegated to cook duty? I've never seen you before." ~Neena~Neena gave an overly sweet smile to the Caelum Twin. ~Rija~"Yes sir!" Rija said with a nod, then leapt back to her feet. She gave a quick salute to the Emperor, then about faced. Heading towards the nearest terminal, gesturing for Shinobi to come with.

Brooklyn wiped the dish, a few specks were being rather... defiant. Reguardless, he chipped them away one-by-one."Name's Brooklyn. Story is pretty easy to say, died a long time ago, soul was captured by the entity that keeps time in-check to basically be her slave, managed to escape. Fast-forward to now, deranged psycho killer attacked myself and my roommate, and then a friend of ours who just so happened to be here called us for some assistance cooking some food. It was either go to this location or fight someone with much higher strength than I. Of course, I chose the latter of the two."He set the dish on the drying rack."Don't worry, I'm supportive of this resistance, Korben has been destroying this world all in the name of retaining control. He has to be stopped. And my friend, him... I don't know what he thinks, but that's like due to how disconnected from the world he normally is. But as soon as he is brought up to speed, no doubt he would aid you lot."He glanced to the Siracha. "Careful, don't let my friend, the tall, black-coated man -Derik- see that, the guy makes anything remotely spicy his buisness in life to consume. Last time he was at my place, he swallowed a bottle of ghost peper sace in a gulp anD calley it mild. The man is a god damn tank in every possible spot..." He sighed, picking up the next dish. "That was fifty bucks down the drain..."Derik gave off a cocky smirk. This man was rather... intresting. No doubt he can sense his power, warriors of his caliber always could. That just made this fight a little more intresting. With a small hop, he landed in the ring, Sula drawn. He removed his coat, however he removed Kylar and placed it by the ring before putting his jacket on the ground. "Fair fight means I probably won't need to use my other weapon. But we will see if that prediction was right."He took stance. The man was leading left, so he felt drawing right was a good option for the start.(Yuffie, I need a good fight fight now. Which means I'm not gonna hold back on you like usual. And you better not hold back, either.)The floor was a simple mat. Leather or some other kind of simple material, it was well-worn. The man in front of him, his weapons drawn, had his feet in a practiced stance on this field. He knew it better than I. The shuffled in the mat made it clear, this man was the king of this ring, his movements likely caused this wear, as the mat itself is rather new, all things considered. My blade, a rapure, one that had yet fail me. Indestructible, but brilliantly sharp, flexible, strong enough to face thick armor but flexible enough to be bent a mirriade of ways. "My usual stance should be enough to face this man." I said deftly, it was a decision. Not a hope, or a prayer. His heavy boots slid into position, his left foot forward, his back leg meeting the front in a middle stance. He drew Sular across his chest, and his left arm placed out in front of him, the mat creaked and crumpled under his weight slightly. His eyes glanced over his opponent and the people around him. In his mind, the sounds, the smells (though not pleasant anyway), everything washed to a white save for the opponent and the ring."Make the first move."

(Well, then, time to start this fight off right. With a phone post from the cafeteria.)

~Ryonne~

Ryonne nodded. Fine. He would need to try his hardest for this battle, no holding back. The Swordsman launched forwards, and once within range, swung down with the sheathed sword. His hand still on the hilt of the blade, he then pulled his edged weapon fully out of its case to swipe horizontally at Monster's gut. Ryonne finished off this quick string of movements by leaping up and onto Monster, then kicked off, flying back towards his starting position, firing off a few bullets as he flew.

(Well, then, time to start this fight off right. With a phone post from the cafeteria.)~Ryonne~Ryonne nodded.

Simple enough. As Ryonne attempted the downward slash, Derik threw Sular to his left hand, keeping it's original position. A loud shuffling sound rose from the mat as Derik slid his foot forward and met the sheath with an upward strike, sending that away with the clang of a hard strike reverberating in the area. Ryonne came at him once again, this time with a horizontal slash to his stomach, but this wasn't an issue. As the next slash readied, Derik pulled Sular in towards his body, and released it, his foot position changing as if to lock in more power, they slid and became perfectly even with his hips. The slash moved out and upward again knocking away Ryonne's attack once more. The sparks danced once again. The smell of smoke and steel and sweat already beginning to mixture into some odd smell, not unlike adrenaline. However, Ryonne was one step ahead for this moment. He pushed off of Derik, and fired off a few shots in his general direction. But if bullets were enough to get him, he woulda been dead a long time ago. His right leg lifted as Derik threw himself backwards onto the mat, though the stage it was on wasn't exactly happy with this outcome as he was heavy as could be. It creaked and moaned like an old man trying to run a 10K.His turn. With the bullets dodged, next up was the counter. Derik rolled onto his left side and pushed upward, the mat had small intents now where he fell and where he had shoved off from."Sorry about that."He kept Sular in reverse grip As soon as his right foot hit the mat again, he was off. His moment was like a blur as he dashed right behind Ryonne, sending a stab at Ryonne's mid-back, followed up by a reverse heel kick to the back of Ryonne's head.

-Eclaire-

She had up and left the grounds, returning to the sole remaining spire of the ruined castle. Here was her personal quarters, which was just a small room and restroom. She dispelled her clothing, and looked in the mirror. Succubi script rolled along her thighs and stomach, invisible to most when her own magic was used. In this primal state the succubi script she had put the words that she wished to embody.

Defiance.

Choice.

Perseverance.

Strength.

Liberty.

Freedom.

She relaxed, and pulled on a nightgown. She needed to recooperate her magical power, and sitting upon her bed...she closed her eyes and just rested. She needed to recover strength, but the Oathkeeper was not around, not yet. She had no perfect source of sexual energy to feed her succubi side...

"Firetruck, I need to find a lover." She was pretty annoyed at her long downtimes.

-Victoria-

Her idea of a walk was simple.

Jump on every damn tree she could until she couldn't anymore. She kept going at it, trying to do her best...until she firetrucked up and tripped, sending herself flying on top of a poor, unsuspecting woman below.

Landing right on top of Neena, she was silent.

"...uhm...well this is awkward." She stood up and offered a hand to Neena.

"Sorry! I tripped. Did I hurt anyone else?"

She doubted anyone would realize who she was...but there always that random one who would.

Allitt

After Rufus dodged Allitt's attack, he fired an ice spell at the woman. She managed to duck out of its way, and listened to his own introduction. "Eren, you say?" She didn't quite catch the lie. "Not quite the high-profile opponent I'd been hoping for, but you're pretty skilled." She blocked his following attack, though it managed to knock her back off balance for a moment. Around this same time, another man teleported behind her and slashed down with a sword. She caught on quickly and tried to avoid the attack, but despite her usually agile movements, the man still managed to cut her shoulder. She clutched her now bleeding arm for a moment. Where did this guy come from...? She studied him, and couldn't recognize him, either. "Are you another one of those rebels?" She asked, looking a little more irritated now. She hadn't quite counted on facing two opponents...

Indy

"Hm... that's a tempting offer." Indy continued playing along with Neena's game, making sure his sword was ready in case he needed to attack. He still didn't trust her in the slightest. "I suppose-" He was cut off by... a girl falling out of a tree, landing on Neena. Of course, with how close Indy was to Neena at the time, he ended up getting knocked over too. He'd been prepared to attack once he got up, but noticed that the new girl's reaction didn't seem too hostile. He stood up, looking slightly annoyed. "... I've felt worse." He tried to keep himself from slicing her to pieces already. He still had an act to keep up at the moment.

Fiora

Fiora listened to Henry's offer to hunt down Rufus again. She nodded before he ran off. "Alright. Good luck finding him." She turned back to Jadis. "Could you lead the way to where you and Krea were hiding?" She asked, a serious tone emerging in her voice. "We'll need to hurry if we want to get her to safety."

-Ariana-

The woman turned a glance to Maxis in the door-frame, a smirk curling the edges of her mouth.  "Even I can't refuse to compliment good works, but don't test me, and don't be too proud of it."  Maxis had quickly become a person that Ari could stand, and partly considered him a friend.  As greatly as she could consider anyone a friend in this empire, at any rate.  With her back turned she heard Korben's concerns, voice soft and curiously . . . caring.  Memories of the past flooded her, her fists clenching at her sides.  She bowed her head lowly.  "Aye, my liege."  With that, she quickly resumed her posture and led Chrysalis away, down the halls and to her own chambers.

Later that night . . . .

Moonlight crept through the window that the dark woman stood before, her violet gaze studying the stars.  The moonlight silhouetted her slight frame, her hair flowing loosely in waves down her back.  She'd changed out of her armor and instead wore black slacks and a crimson top, her muscular shoulders ghastly pale in contrast.  Something had been eating at her for a while, something that she needed to speak with Korben about.  Only he would have the answers she needed, and only he could inform her on what she must do.  She shifted to Chrysalis, who she'd tucked into bed moments ago, treading over to her quietly.  "No one will bother you here," she explained, no hint of expression in her tone.  "I don't know what sort of magic you're working, but things are changing.  Everything is changing."

With that she rose, strode over the the door, and silently stole her way down the hall.  These chambers were ones she hadn't dared visit since Eclaire attacked, since Korben had instructed her to train Chrysalis.  Korben's chambers were foreign to her,  but he was the one person who'd always given her purpose since first arriving in the empire, and had granted her power by agreeing to infuse her with a demon's blood.  Without Korben's concern, I would be nothing.

Ari bit on her lip until she tasted blood.  Her knuckles rapped upon his door.  Hopefully he wouldn't still be out, and would have the answers that she craved, namely . . . .

Why were they doing this?

-Jadis-

Panic seized the young mage's throat, and for a moment he opened his mouth and no sound came forth.  His eyes turned from desperation to despair as he fixated his gaze upon Fiora, whose head shifted from him as she spoke.  "But she's not dead!" Jadis shouted, fervently shaking Mara's shoulders.  "Of course she's not dead!  She--she--"  He glanced at the pale visage of his caretaker, who remained deathly still.  Her face had no color, her skin growing colder by the minute.  The mage shook violently before letting out a howl, burying his face into the crook of Mara's arm and sobbing.  It took quite a while before he could compose himself, and when he had it was because Fiora mentioned Krea.  The youth felt disjointed from reality, everything feeling unreal and hazy to him.  Finally he lifted his head, his eyes red and puffy.  "I left her in Rufus's room at the inn," he croaked.  "She's probably safe, but we should make sure."

The boy rose, stealing a glance at Mara's still form.  "I'll never forget you.  Thank you . . . ."  He knelt, kissing Mara's forehead before taking a few steps backward toward Fiora.  He trembled, the expression in his eyes truly haunted.  "These imperials," he croaked, "they must pay for what they've done."

-Yevgeni-

The blond listened to Cobica's story, his stomach twisting into a knot as he did so.  "And here I thought I had it bad because everyone treated me like a freak," he said softly.  While at first Yev thought Cobica was cocky and a bit too rude for his taste, he couldn't blame him for being the way he was, and honestly thought he didn't turn out half-bad considering.  After that Yevgeni lightened up on Cobica considerably, especially when he referred to Yev so fondly upon finding Mikhail and Slade.  At Mikhail's offer Yev pulled out a chair and sat, willing to accept the drink that he offered.  "A drink would be nice, yes.  Perhaps I can finally get some sleep after this very long day."  He took a long swig from his mug before glancing over at Cobica once more.  "Say, do you know where I could find Vortludo?  I'm sure he'd like to get in on the fun.  Also, when shall we leave?  Our plans are not supposed to commence for another two days, correct?"

(Just a side note, I'm ready to time skip for Yev, though I would love to resolve a few things with Jadis and Ari beforehand, if that's alright with everyone.)

(Whoops; I didn't intend Rufus' ice spell to be directed towards her just yet, but it should do.  As for Yltriss, she'll be ready to time-skip as well after this post of mine.)

-Rufus Contralto-

" 'Rebels, rebels, rebels.'  Rebels it always is with you," Rufus huffed.  "I am of my own allegiance and person.  Nevertheless, thanks are in order for your willful assistance, thou mysterious mister."

The snapping of additional beams captured his attention and perhaps the others' as well, their structural integrity weakening nearly to the point of critical failure.  He groaned, fighting back his chivalric side, and, having lost, sheathed his sword to extend a hand to each of the others.

"No time.  Grasp mine hand to teleport out, the both of you, or flee.  The building will collapse any time now, so decide!"

Burning debris shortly showered around the three of them, fiery ash falling on Rufus' exposed hands and flesh, but he fought back the pain and continued the offer of his hands to the others.  It was still not yet two minutes, but even though it would leave him in shambles he might preserve the others' existence where it could not preserve his sister's.

For your sake, sister, I'm doing this.  I could not save you while you performed this for me, but your selflessness has saved my life.  High time 'twould be to do this for others, being stronger now.

-Yltriss Hyulli-

The cat-like sheen of the Animal Instinct within her eyes caught whatever light flew in her direction and reflected it.  She had to be grateful for this artificial magic.  It provided many additions to the senses than what she had originally as an elf, and it aided her in more than that one fight with Peashy over the few decades she had its gifts.  She spotted a bird's nest in the trees, iced over and devoid of life, and halted deep in thought.

"How I long to go back to those days," she muttered under her breath, "when I was the chick or the mother wren, but they are long past.  I sometimes wonder if my youth existed at all."

She did not remember much of her childhood, just dust and echoes, but the days when she was expecting a child she remembered deeply.  It was joyous and wonderful, filled with love and compassion from her husband and others in their clan, but ripped from her when she had that child.

According to those days, the abominations known as demons must be wholly destroyed for their many acts of devastation, but what of my child?  I had no knowledge of its true origin, and if it were not for the tail and eyes of jet it could be considered an elf by any normal means, raised by a mother who could cherish it.  Instead, it was ripped from me and killed by one I thought would cherish it alongside me, and I was spurned from elfin society.  Which is the worse evil, destroying the taint of devilish blood or raising it in the beliefs of good?  I still question their decision, and question the fairness of two centuries' change in belief, such that Ariana can be accepted by all.

She shook her head in frustration, rubbing her rounded ears that still held the scars of their snipping.  They still burned upon the touch.

No, it was my own kind that dejected and caused my child's loss as well as my exile, and it was humans that recognised their worth.  With that, I will do humanity a favour and rise higher and higher in their ranks to do them justice where others cannot.  I decided this too long ago and still enact this now, so watch yourselves--Korben, Ariana--as I surpass and supplant you both and purge your injustices with my purity of thought.

A smile twisted on her lips as she continued on, walking further into the night.

~Viridem~

Viridem nodded a little bit towards Brooklyn with his responses. Interesting... This rebellion was certainly a gathering place for misfits if there ever was one. An Isle of Misfit Toys for people. She quickly drained what little water remained in the rice out, then placed the rice as a base on her plate. The green haired youth scooped the beef onto the plate, then threw the ginger and some of the other sauteed ingredients into the table scraps bin. The dogs always appreciated her food. She had only wanted them for the taste to be integrated into the beef anyway. Viridem poured the sauce in a zig zag fashion along the beef and rice. As she did so, she replied to Brooklyn once more. "Don't worry, I'll be sure to hide my hot sauce under my pillow." She remarked sarcastically, putting down the sriracha, and pulling a small bottle of rice seasoning from the cabinet and frugally putting it onto her food. Perfect. She took a bite, and as the flavors mingled in her mouth, she looked towards the orange haired boy again. "Well, I'm sure we'll be glad to have your services. My name is Viridem, don't forget it. Don't have as... interesting a story as you. Just a poor, determined girl. But if that's enough to overthrow an empire, then I'm glad to do something with my life."

~Neena~

Neena scrambled quickly to her feet, her gaze betraying her inner frustration and anger for a split second. This was a problem, an unforeseen possibility. This woman was not one she knew, but she did not have tanzynite... However, she was powerful in some magical sense. Her very presence threw off her entire plan. So much for assassinating Indy in his sleep or a drunken stupor... But she had still prepared the spell. The Asssassin smiled towards Victoria and moved towards her, nodding as she did so. "It's quite fine, we all have falls like that." As soon as she was right behind Victoria, Neena unleashed her dark spell. It wasn't her strong suit, but with enough time, which she had had adequate enough of before this woman came falling from the sky, she could still cast them. It was a tracking device, a way for her to track the location of the victim. It also had a usually fortunate side effect for femme fatales like herself. The next woman they saw they would become infatuated with for a little bit. The spell could be easily resisted if seen coming, or dispelled by an experienced mage, but it was certainly helpful. In any case, as soon as she casted the spell, Neena vanished into her own dark portal. Theoretically, the poor woman would be victim to Indy's undying attention for a little while, distracting them both from her.

~Ryonne~

Flying through the air, Ryonne was normally helpless. But, he had trained for situations like this. He had calibrated the recoil of his rifle to be just so, that shots fired would push him when in free fall, but not enough that it was a problem to fire off multiple shots. In any case, he did so, positioning his gun to point behind him, towards where Derik was coming, and fired. He fell towards the ground, the strikes missed. He rolled to his feet quickly. Ryonne did not bother to waste time, dashing off again, leaping into the air, and swiping powerfully with his blade from left to right. "There's no time for sorry in battle." Ryonne grunted a reply as he did so. He sheath hand glowed vibrantly before he punched towards Derik. A powerful laser of Blinding Light emanated from his hand, and pushed Ryonne farther back. He touched down on the ground again, keeping his stance open for his opponent's next move.

~Cobica & Vortludo~

"Of course she's serious! I swear, sometimes her plans are the only reason I don't go back to terrorizing on my own!" Cobica replied brashly towards Mikhail's note of disapproval towards Eclaire's little plot. "As for Vort, most of the time he's here, otherwise he's in his room, making out with his precious treasures." The Half-Breed said, as usual taunting with little expectation of retaliation.

"I must assure you my comrade, I hold no romantic interest in my objects of study, no matter how beautiful they may be!" Vortludo said as he walked into the room from a different entrance, waving his hand dramatically as he does. He wandered over to the bar, behind the counter, where he grabbed a wine glass, and pulled a bottle from a locked cabinet, which only he had the key to. As he filled the glass, Cobica leaned back farther in his seat.

"By the way Vort, you've been sincerely invited to a birthday party in the Capital. Explosions included, but you have to bring your own firearms. Me and Yev were going to go, but we wanted to know if you'd come with. Oh, and hit me up with some of the fire water you got back there!"

"That sounds delightful! I will be sure to accompany you, equipped with the best magical tools for such a job. But, Cobica, I have precious little of my Demon's Brandy... But for a friend, I must relent!" Vortludo said, pouring some of the aforementioned drink into a small glass. He walked over to the table, and gave the drink to Cobica, and shared a clink of the glass before each took a sip. Cobica relished the drink, before turning back to Yevgeni.

"We'll leave tomorrow afternoon, and spend a night in the capital, make some preparations."

-Emperor Korben-

Just then, before Shinobi and Rija departed, Korben had an idea. "Hold on a second...Shinobi? To me. Rija? Continue. I don't want our databases to have been hacked and none of us be any the wiser." He said, to which Shinobi promptly rushed back to him in less than a second and knelt before him, awaiting instruction.

"Shinobi, rise." Korben added, Shinobi complied immediately. "I have an important mission for you and you only. Eclaire and her Rebellion are becoming tiresome and they've only just begun I feel....they would see me torn from my throne, hung, drawn, quartered and whatever else they can do before I was dead. Now while we both know that's unlikely, well....we cannot take chances, especially me." He explained, then folded his arms.

"I need you to explore the lands, all of them. The Korbenic Empire, the Territory of Lux, the Separatist Cities, The Elven Mountains and the Forgotten Isle. Find me their Base of Operations. And as soon as you do, assassinate Eclaire. End her, I don't care how you do it, just do it." Korben spoke his words clearly, his highlighted words prompted a spark of flame from his eyes, his rage seeping to the surface.

"Be sure not to tell them you are of the Empire...I want to keep this knowledge of the Order of Lux's Base a surprise for them. Your notoriety is not within their knowledge, but if in the unlikely event they find out, or rather she finds out, proceed as normal." He said, the began to turn... "One more thing. Bring me Eclaire's Heart. The Heart of that traitorous coward shall be made an example of what happens when you go against me....and more than that, it'll be my trophy." His words dramatic, but deadly serious, Shinobi nodded silently and immediately set off, covered in electricity from her suit allowing her to run even faster out of the palace and began heading out of Langerdon.

*Later that day*

Korben had soon retired to his chambers to reflect upon what had occurred and rest himself, sitting upon his bed and still clad in armour, his thoughts raced in is mind.

"The Goddesses have fallen...and before that, Eclaire took out some of my Generals....*sigh* how she managed that still astounds me. While some Rebels have already caused trouble...right now, I can still dismiss them to the public as a myth, a tale told by fools....but eventually, I'll need to change what I say, because the Order of Lux has flags, emblems, insignia's...and the ability to be noticed."

"Then there's my allies....so often I have been betrayed, but I can't let my trust of them waver....for with an Empire, I have to have somebody to trust...I can't trust nobody, that isn't wise....but like hell if they didn't test my patience..."

Upon a sudden, his thoughts were ceased by a knock upon his door, prompting Korben to rise from his seated position to walk over to the door and open it, revealing Ariana.

"Ariana? I wasn't expecting you. What do you need?" His voice was a mixture of surprise, relief, gladness and most definitely: A soft tone, as he spoke to his "Dragon", as it were.

-Nolan "Arkham" Vigil-

Pacing in his lab, Nolan had run out of things to do for now, at least, the remainder of experiments, tech and testing were impractical at this hour. Even he needed to sleep, but something was bothering him, to say the very least...Eclaire's orders.

"Gaaah, what is she thinking?! Does she want us to die?? Last time I checked, a Rebellion needs to be ALIVE to actually rebel!" His modulated voice echoed across his lab as he ranted to himself, slamming his hand against his main desk as he shouted his last word, prompting him to stop for a moment and think.

"....ghh, I need to talk to her." He conceded, then pressed a button on his right arm, activating his holographic video/audio channel, projecting a screen in front of him from the arm, to which it read:

Please select a contact.

He pushed a few more buttons until it read:

Eclaire's Room Selected. *Button press* Calling now...

This would then cause Eclaire's in-room Communicator to beep to get her attention.

-Zanza Quinn-

Zanza sheathed his blade silently as Allitt accused him of Rebellion, still he replied not, aside from a quick friendly glance and wink to Rufus, so he knew that he was not here to kill him. However, he would also be quick to notice that the building around them was beginning to collapse, so he fired off towards Rufus and grabbed his hand.

"I'll come with. You can trust me. Or not, whatever you choose is fine by me." He told him.

Allitt

The woman was hoping that the fight would continue, but the approaching collapse of the building seemed to bring the fight to a sudden end. As Rufus offered to help her escape, she considered her options. It would be a quick escape, and she'd be guaranteed to make it out alive, but for all she knew, this could be a trap... As much as she wanted to continue fighting him, she figured that she'd be better off going off on her own. "I suppose we'll have to continue this fight another day." She spoke with a smirk. "I'll hold you both to that, too!" She quickly shouted before running out of the house. Thankfully, her Tanzynite-boosted speed allowed her to escape without harm. "I guess that was still kind of fun..." She muttered, and turned away to try and leave the town.

Fiora

Fiora felt bad for Jadis, especially since she was the one who was supposed to heal Mara... However, she had to remain strong for the boy's sake. She quietly listened to his pledge to make the empire pay, and nodded. "You and I both share the same goal, then." She pointed out. "We'll have time to discuss that once we save Krea, though. Come on, let's go!" She led the way to the inn, and searched the rooms for Krea. "Krea, are you okay? Please, let me know if you can hear me!" She shouted as she continued peering into the rooms, hoping that they weren't too late for the young girl, too.

Indy

The sudden disappearance of the girl who he'd been suspicious of allowed Indy to relax a little. Still, he would have liked to find out what exactly she was trying to do... For all he knew, his decision to keep her alive could cause him trouble in the future. Unfortunately, he didn't have time to deal with that. He also didn't notice the girl's parting gift... He turned to Victoria. The side effect of Neena's spell was able to work, and Indy couldn't help but find himself unable to tear his eyes away from the girl in front of him. She's... really attractive. Being new to feeling this way for anyone, he seemed slightly awkward in his speech. "... A-anyway... Who are you?" He asked, partially to keep his patrol productive, and also out of curiosity regarding the identity of the girl who was now driving him crazy. "What brought you here?"

"Everyone's got an interesting story. And though it may sound like I'm prying, I would love to know yours."

Brooklyn scraped off the last of the crap off of the dish. God damn, like none of them knew to pre-soak dishes... He muttered a swear under his breath as the sink clogged. Void magic had it's uses, he thought, clearing the blockage with a portal. He laughed in his head, thinking about how many times he had done this already, if the Void wasn't... Well... A void, he would likely be it's end via pollution.

"Trust me, my story isn't anything like Derik, or even Sandrew's, but they listed with the same level of intent as I to their's. No story is really "boring". It just takes a good set of ears to hear the good parts."

The failed counterattack wasn't something he hadn't dealt with before. More shots, a small round of Wind magic was enough to send them off-course of him, though barely. Had he been a better mage, he probably wouldn't have sweat it, but those shots were awful close...

Derik laughed. "Don't be so serious, boy. You'll find even the hardest battles will yield opportunities to act in humility and honor."

With his attack evaded, he slammed his foot on the ground in front of him as he brought it down from the kick. Then as Derik brought up Sular to block Ryonne's slash, a burst of energy from the boy got him square in the chest. It hadn't hurt much, but the ideal behind it was all the same.

"Looks like my ego got the best of me. You're worthy of facing both of my weapons."

He was like a blur once again, Derik ran at his opponent, however, this time he took a more strategic approach, striking at the boy's weapon; pushing it away from his route. He followed this by dropping to his left-knee and preforming a sweeping-kick with his right to the ankles, and a throw of a few of his training set of throwing picks right at Ryonne, however, this was just a distraction. With it in his range now, Derik pulled Kylar off of the stage floor, having left Sular on the stage, he grabbed it with his left and snatched up Sular with his right, and sent a small burst of air magic at Ryonne in an attempt to gain some more ground.

-Eclaire-

Her rest was interrupted...Arkham.

She picked up her comm. "Yes?" She asked politely. Arkham was volitile, and she couldn't lose him...he was a good man, and without the Order...he might not live. And without him...they'd lose.

-Victoria-

She bit her lip as the girl left, then blushed profusely as Indy called her attractive.

"U...uhm...thank you." She smiled. "You're cute." She extended her hand. "Toria."

Indy

Indy was a bit surprised by the girl's sudden response... Until he realized that he'd actually spoken his thoughts regarding her appearance out loud. This just made him even more nervous... Of course, he'd normally be able to tell that this wasn't like him at all. Unfortunately, the spell's effects were a little too strong for him to fight back. He couldn't tell that this was something he'd normally never do. He tried to calm down, then shook Victoria's hand. "Indy. Nice to meet you." He managed to not stutter those two sentences, amazingly. "What are you doing here?"

-Ariana-

The door of Korben's chambers opened, and there stood the emperor himself.  He seemed clearly surprised for Ari to be standing there, yet displayed no irritation of her presence.  Her violet eyes slowly rose to meet his, the flames that had replaced his eyes so long ago.  She grasped his hand, her expression imploring.  "Korben, I--may we talk?  Please?"

She strolled past him into the darkened room.  Her movements were slow, almost mechanical, seeming nothing like the strong, cocky, and biting general that everyone had known.  It was incredibly rare to see Ariana weak, and the few that had never lived to speak it.  She seemed lost, distant, like a stranded puppy desperate to find its home.  Treading across the room in small strides she sat on the edge of the bed, her gaze fixated on the floor momentarily before she glanced back up at Korben.  "I--I don't know who I am anymore.  First I fought for lost love, and then I thought I was fighting for a new one.  Vengeance has been my motivation for all of these years, and yet I don't even know why"--her voice trailed as she caught her reflection in a mirror--"I'm fighting anymore.  Where is my hate coming from?  What is my purpose?"

Finally the fire rekindled in her eyes, her expression lively again as she leapt onto her feet and made her way to Korben in a few quick strides.  Now she remained standing close, her face only several inches from Korben's.  Her eyes grew glassy as her brow contorted, as if she were fighting back tears.  "Korben," she started lowly, her voice a cracked whisper.  "You have always given me a purpose.  I always felt that I knew what to do.  But here I am: killing people and I don't know why, and torturing a little girl who looks up to me as a mother!"  Finally a tear managed to escape her eye, sliding further down her cheekbone.  "So please, answer me this: why am I--we--doing this, really?!  Do we even have a reason anymore?"

-Jadis-

Fiora led the way while Jadis walked, but he wasn't even aware that his feet were moving.  The loss of Mara would take a great toll on his soul.  Right then he didn't think he'd ever overcome it.

Finally they arrived at the inn, which amazingly was still being held together rather well.  A few windows were broken, but that was the furthest extent of such damage.  While Jadis did hope that Krea was still alright, he knew the girl; she was obedient and fearful, and there was no way that she would've left the room after Jadis had.  Sure enough, Jadis's prediction held true as the small frail brunette poked her head out of the inn-room door and saw the pair in the hall.  Her eyes widened in relief, as a smile tore across her face and she bounded out of the room.  "Jadis!  Fiora!"  First she flung herself into Fiora's arms before stealing a glance at her lifelong friend.  She tilted her head upon noticing Jadis, who looked a bit more than only distraught.  "Jadis . . . are you okay?  What happened?  Are you hurt?"

The mage shook his head dully, slate-blue locks falling across his forehead.  "No, it's nothing, Krea.  It's just . . . so many lives were lost today because of the empire, when I should've been able to help save them."  A tear rolled down his cheek as his tightened fists began to shake involuntarily.  "If only I'd made it out to the battle sooner, I could've saved her . . . .  Saved everyone."

While Krea was indeed small and young, she was wise for her years.  She nodded in understanding, before taking both Jadis and Fiora's hands.  "Since Mr. Rufus left his room for us, why don't we stay here for the night?  I'm sure we're all tired and can set off for home in the morning."

(I'm skipping Yevgeni because he's ready for the timeskip, and now Jadis is as well.  Just a bit with Ari and we're good to go, or we could skip for everyone else and resolve that another time.)

-Rufus Contralto-

Rufus could not help but feel apologetic for Allitt's turning away from his offer, but she had things under control even as the building came down above her.  With Zanza's rushing over to mash hands with his, he warped with a loud thoom and vanished without a trace, not even magic, as the roof collapsed in a rousing inferno.

The smell of ocean struck his nose first, and he opened his eyes to realise he was at the seascape near the town of Pasa Beach, hundreds of miles away from Rhasolvich.  He was safe and sound, he knew, but the fact that his mana pool was depleted almost entirely struck him harshly.  Before he knew it, his hand loosened from Zanza as he fell forward, blacking out.
