True. But 2.8 is being developed because KH3 is still far from finished, so it would be a bit pointless if that would delay the release of KH3, don't you think? KH3 was just announced too early, the other titles aren't pushing it back.

If anything this is good news. Don't bash on 2.8. BBSV2 was bound to happen at some stage and this is going to give us a taste of KH3 while we wait. If you really think about it, Kingdom Hearts III will release in 2017, which is just over a year away. It isn't THAT long away. I'm sure you'll survive without it. We have all been doing the same since it was announced. I haven't played Dream Drop Distance though, so my view is slightly biased since I do have something interesting to take aay from this collection.

Though I would be a little mad if they announce a Kingdom Hearts 2.9 to come out in 2017 we have to remember that they do have an internal release date for Kingdom Hearts 3 that they are trying to get to, now we don't know if that has changed or not. I'm excited for 2.8 getting to play Dream Drop Distance on a TV and for the other stuff in the collection as well.  Don't forget we also have Unchained coming out this year, unless for some reason it doesn't and it releases next year before 2.8 but I don't think that will be the case, it shouldn't be that hard to translate a mobile game.  It doesn't please me that 2.8 is being developed along side Kingdom Hearts 3 but that means that they are working on both tittles and we don't know how they are split up I'm sure the majority of the team is working on Kingdom Hearts 3 while the other team is working on 2.8

Honestly, I don't see what the problem is with KH 2.8. Given that KH3D wasn't included in 1.5 or 2.5 and its importance towards the story, we knew it was going to be remastered. This complaint about it also being on the PS4 seems incredibly moot as well, because we know you need a PS4 (or Xbone) for KH3. It's been two years since KH3 was confirmed and 2.8 is out next year so that has been and still is plenty time to save up for a PS4 if you are that desperate to enjoy the games. I've never seen such an outcry towards a Kingdom Hearts game being announced and in all honesty, it is nothing but petty incentive whining. Nomura and his team want to give us a KH game each year and if you think that is milking the series then fine, each to their own, but why feel the need to tell Square to stop making games? Others are quite happy with this, I personally can't wait to play 2.8.

 

I don't believe 2.8 is affecting KH3's development by a lot, we've been told countless times that KH3 is going smoothly. We all know the story of how two programmers pretty much did the work on the previous HD collection (I can't recall if it were 1.5/2.5 or both..). KH3D will have a few control re-mappings like BbS, X Back Cover by the sounds of it is far shorter than Days/Re:coded and Birth by Sleep 0.2 is only the length of a single world so it might as well be a demo for KH3.

i'm saying they are having a hard time with the jump too. a LOT of people have ps3 now because they are cheaper and old but the ps4 is still new, so expecting fans to have a ps4 or xbox one because they know kh3 will be on it is a bit much, they should start saving and thinking about it but already having one or easily getting one is a bit much. and it breaks up the 1.5 and 2.5 thing

The series had to move on to the next generation at some point and this is that point. It's been two years since Kingdom Hearts 3 has been announced to release on PS4 and Xbox One. They had plenty of time in those two years to save up money and they still have time to save up since KH3 will undoubtedly release in 2017. What's 'a bit much' with having a PS4 or Xbox One? They're the next generation of game consoles. There's nothing bad with having one or both of them.

 

Kingdom Hearts 3 was announced in 2013, before 1.5 came out. Since 2013, we've known that we were going to get a PS4 anyway. So it doesn't 'break up' the 1.5 and 2.5.

Worst opinions toward a KH game have occurred. This includes why KH Re:coded was made when people wanted a KH game that wasn't a spin-off.

Because once again they didn't outsource the remaster/s and make "movies" that take up a lot of resources for what isn't exactly your typical AAA sized team.

Yeah, but it's for a remaster that most fans have been asking for and a movie that is supposedly integral to the plot, and a lot of people don't want to or can't play a mobile game just for that bit of plot. They wouldn't waste time developing it if there wasn't demand for it.

Fair point, but a little off topic- I'm just referring to 2.8.

 

Also, I can see why they wouldn't necessarily want to develop PS4 versions at the same time- it's a new console with new hardware, so maybe they didn't want to risk porting these games to that and instead stick with hardware that they've been used to for years. Nomura is just releasing these games to keep his promise on releasing a title every year, which is better than having three years of waiting with no KH game whatsoever. Besides, there isn't a new game here in 2.8, it's just a bunch of a remaster with a stupid small episode added with it in addition to a movie.  

Everything got ruined the moment he added Birth by Sleep on II.5, which made the meaning of "two and half meaningless" without 3D but just because 3D was a fresh game back then, he added BBS instead and the whole collection and order of the titles got complexed. We don't have a choice anyways and even if II.9 was real with all the games together in one collection, it would be better than spreading the games to an incorrect order like what happened with II.5 and II.8

So what if 2.8 is coming out on PS4 instead of 3? Kingdom Hearts 3, as you said, is releasing on PS4. So again, someone who was going to play KH3 would have a PS4 anyway.
