I know a lot of people think the KH story issuper dark and twisted but to be honest I don't agree
I'll explain why:
The only part of the story where I've been like 'woah that's crazy' is when Riku Replica burned Zexion alive. That was extremely dark, but aside from that? Not at all.
Xion didn't 'die' she returned to Sora, Eraqus didn't die, his heart went into Terra's heart. The Organization did not DIE, they can't die, they are all nobodies! Of course death isn't the only way for things to get scary and thrilling, but a lot of people are misinterpreting 'death' in this series.
I noticed a lot of people say, 'KH is so dark, for a game that has mickey mouse in it'.
BBS has a sad ending of course and so does 358, but when you compare them to other games they really don't match up to the standard of 'dark'. Sad and dark are two completely different things!
If you want something dark, watch Hunter x Hunter where children get eaten by giant ants and children decapitate people. That's dark.
