The Sonic franchise has dealt with its fair share of criticism in recent times with certain games not living up to the standard that the fans have come to expect. Well, that could all be set to change! SEGA Europe Marketing Director Jon Rooke has explained the company realises that the quality of recent Sonic titles have taken a nose dive so they are looking to create future games based on the templates that were there in the 90’s when the Sonic games were something special.

 

“Sega has publicly apologised to the fans as the quality of console games in the Sonic franchise hasn’t been acceptable over recent years. It’s been tough translating that iconic side scrolling 2D experience from the 90s into 3D but Sonic is still huge for us so the new games will be more inspired by how it played in its heyday.”

Agreed. I hope this means that they make good Sonic games again and not bad to mediocre ones.

I hope they consider Remastering Sonic 06 or something. That game could've been WAY better if they took their time with it. And I agree, Classic Sonic was awesome. He had one of the best remixes in Sonic Generations.

 

And yes, A Sonic Adventure 3 would be good as well.

Honestly, if SEGA were to ever remake Sonic 06 they should use the Sonic Generations engine. That would be a good way to remake and improve the game from the original version.

seriously though I guess ATLUS really is teaching them a thing or two about not being a terrible company

I believe Sonic Lost World was the last console Sonic game made by Sonic Team and that was in 2013,so its been a while,usually there's a new Sonic game every year,so I imagine they've been working on the new Sonic game all this time to make sure the game is polish and fun to play,but to be fair Sonic Lost World and Boom aside the recent Sonic games were great,we got the Sonic 4 games the were a bit disappointing but they were still fun,Sonic Unleashed was great,Black Knight was fun and kinda unique,Sonic Colors was ever better then Unleashed and Sonic Generations was a masterpiece,but I guess when they are talking about recent years they are probably talking about most games that came out after Sonic Adventure 2 including the spinoffs.

I was never a huge Sonic game fan but I do remember playing and enjoying Sonic Adventure 1 & 2! Here's hoping they make a Sonic Adventure 3! Or maybe even remake something like Sonic Heroes (with less crappy controls) Sonic 06 (completely revamped) and maybe farther down the line they could remake Shadow the Hedgehog or something! :'o Am I just being too wishful? ;w;

Oh boy! Even more nostalgia being shoved down our throats to please the classic elitists because SEGA is unable to come up with a good formula for 3D Sonic and stick with it thus pleasing a good chunk of their fans! Or better yet, do what they did in 2010 and have at least 1 new game for every type of Sonic fan to enjoy! HOO.F**ING.RAY.
