Should I sell my ps3 for a ps4?

Posted

I really want to get a ps4 as soon as possible because tales of berseria is coming on the ps4 and not the ps3 and I'd like to know if I should sell my ps3 for a ps4 now or not. Keep in mind that A LOT of my favorite games are on my ps3.

If a lot of your favorite games are on the PS3 then don't sell it. The PS4 doesn't have backwards compatibility so it would be a better investment to get the PS4 when you have the money to purchase it. You'll need that PS3 to play those previous games.

I would definitely not sell your PS3, especially if you have a large library of games for it.  The problem with reselling consoles is that you can't get *that* much money for them, and with consoles not being backwards compatible you end up losing a lot of treasures by selling a console.  I've actually held onto all of mine and just bought the newer consoles when they're reduced or when I can afford them.  Personally I just don't feel losing good games is worth the fraction of the original cost you would receive by selling your console.

Why would you sell your old consoles? As long as they are working keep them, maybe in 10 years you would like to play your PS3 again and if you sell it you can't it and probably won't be able to find one cheap then, I say keep it Tales of Beseria probably won't release until late 2016 in the west anyways and by then you probably saved enough money for a PS4. So in conclusion don't sell it keep it as long as it works

it would honestly be better to stick with the console with all your favorite games. unless there were enough games out for PS4 now that would justify buying it. personally i wouldn't trade in a console or handheld unless i had to way to keep playing the old games for it. you should probably keep the PS3.

It is not going to be worth it in the long run.  The only home console I have ever gotten rid of was my original PS1 since my PS2 could play it's games.  There is no  chance of PS4 ever having backwards compatibility with PS3 so a PS3 is your only real option to still play PS3 games (just forget about PS Now).  Tales of Berseria is still a far ways off for a western release.  I say wait until it gets closer to the time for it's release before you make any decision like that.

Also look at it this way: Your PS3 can play 6 Tales of games while a PS4 can currently only play 1.  Just save up your money and buy a PS4 next Black Friday or sometime when there is a good deal on it.

If you have HD1.5 and 2.5, then do not sell it at all. Save up for a PS4 so you can get HD2.8 and KH3.

HEELLLLL NO!

Keep that PS3, you will NOT regret it. Or rather you will regret it if you don't! When KH3 comes out though... knock yourself out, I guess.

Eh, not everyone thinks this way. With the way electronics break these days and the constant improvement in graphics, gameplay, content, and the ever-growing ability for emulation I doubt most would keep their consoles for a long while

Heck, I still have two GameCubes, a Wii and a Wii U. I don't really need the GameCube, but I guess I'll put it in vintage.

Well, if most of your favorite games are on the PS3, then I suggest you hold out a bit longer and wait till you have enough money to buy yourself a PS4.  Besides, Berseria doesn't come out yet, right?  So I'm sure you'll have plenty of time to save up money for a PS4!  My advice: Don't sell your PS3.  But that's just me. The choice is yours, and yours alone! ^_^

I see what you are saying but since PS4 can't play PS3 games it's better to keep especially when some of your favorite are on it.

You just save up you might miss games that are now on PS4 before fFXV/KH3 will come out.

But then you will get the games cheaper.

I ust got one and I'm playing Infamous second son for example ok that is a quick game but still.

If people care to begin playing FFXIV on PS4 like me I would say get it now :).
