Okay guys it has been a while since I had sent out a topic but here goes

 

 

The topic I am willing to share with you all is this :

 

“ Do you think Sora and Kairi would be preferred if they had a romance seen with in the KH3 story where would you think that seen should be? At the Beginning or the End before the credits?”

 

My personal view on this is that the romance seen would be very good at the end before the credits have been upplaced but I want to know what all you guys think upon the topic of this?

Definitely towards the end, but I would be happy either way! Just needs to happen.

To be perfectly frank, we all know there is that bit of sexual tension between them, but god no. I'm sorry to disagree here, I really am. But they are meant to be friends, yes a little more than that, but they aren't supposed to be romancing with one another, especially with Riku on the sidelines. It could be argued however that this would put all the Sora x Riku shipping to rest, and that'd be quite something. I honestly don't think that the relationship between Sora and Kairi, that being that they romance each other, would coincide with the thematic approach that Nomura has in mind. As much as we hate to regret it, the game does have a younger audience, so the romance to them won't be understood by them as much. Anyway, that is just my opinion.

I wouldn't mind if they set it up where they meet up around the beginning and one of them mentions that they want to talk to the other about something (most likely Kairi asking Sora to talk about something, I don't see Sora bringing it up first) and they do but before they can say anything they get interrupted and they don't reach it.  And have a few interactions like that through out the game until close to the end when they finally get to have that talk about the firetrucking drawing in the cave! They have to at least talk about that in KH3

I think that Sora and Kairi are gonna share a paupu fruit at the end of the credits, and then that'll pretty much be the bulk of the romance between them.

Yeah, no, see the thing is if they really wanted them to stay friends they wouldn't have gone so far out of their way to convince you of how destined they are for each other, they are LITERALLY writing it on the wall for the audience. Yes they are good friends, and friendship is the main focus of the series, but it's not the only focus. Romance has existed multiple times before, it's just been with the Disney characters so we don't give it much thought. Given everything that's happened in the series due to the fact that "Kairi is someone who is very special to Sora", it's kind of hard to refute the direction the story is taking them in. It's not a question of whether they are shippable or not, almost everyone here agrees on that. If anything the pairing only makes that much more sense BECAUSE of how close they are as friends, and they show plenty of room to get closer. Really it's just a matter of how it will be factored into the story.

 

As far as KH3 goes, I honestly have no idea whether it would be a good idea or not for Sora and Kairi to address those feelings. On the one hand, it might make for some nice side-fluff/drama to break up the tension of the main conflict. On the other hand, with every loose end that might end up getting tied up in this game, adding in a romance subplot might make things a bit overcrowded. But seeing as how this is Nomura AND Kingdom Hearts, that might not be as difficult a task as it would be for others, but it's still something to keep in mind. But if it is a bit crowded, then it might just be a safer idea to maybe settle on just developing the bond between Sora and Kairi more instead, while saving the romance question to be answered in a future title. Again, I know a lot of shippers would find it perfect if this got resolved in KH3, but the fact is that there might be more loaded on this game's plate than a Thanksgiving Dinner at grandma's. As far as storytelling goes, you want to make sure that you've got a strong of enough focus, filled with fun little small distractions here and there to break the tension, but not too much to overcrowd the main plot, otherwise it just becomes a mess. With KH3, it's main plot, fighting Master Xehanort once and for all, is already set up where in order to happen it already has to take several branches in order to tie up all it's loose ends that have been leading to this moment, what with the original goal to save those connected to Sora, the new task of protecting the Princesses, training Kairi and Lea to become Keyblade Masters, finding this Keyblade to Return Hearts, figuring out a way to connect to the Lost Masters/Fortellers, stopping Maleficent's scheme involving the Book of Prophesies, the quests of each individual world, as well as the mini-schemes set up by each member of the 13 Seekers in each world, as well as the main scheme by MX, finally completing the 7 Guardians, and finally having the final confrontation with Master Xehanort, it's already set up to be quite the complicated tree of a game. Now if the game is allowed to be long enough to accommodate all that I don't really mind, it honestly wouldn't feel like the last chapter of a Kingdom Hearts story if it wasn't as overly-complex as this, I just don't want any limitations the game might have to be what ends up crippling the game length and ultimately the pacing of the story.

 

But with that said, would it even be possible to fit in a Sora and Kairi development story amidst all this plot? Well....maybe, it really depends on how this gets balanced. If anything first you would have to figure out how it would work well on it's own, then figure out how to factor it into the story in a way that doesn't make it feel like a needless distraction. For it to work, you would certainly need them to be exposed to each other a lot more, I mean they already have enough of a history together and they do share great chemistry, it's just that you hardly ever get to see them in the same scenes together that there isn't really that many chances to develop the relationship beyond a Princess and her brave Knight scenario. Now training Kairi in the art of the Keyblade is a good first step towards that, at the very least that guarantees her a chance to fight alongside Sora in the future, but you would still have to create scenarios where they would have an excuse to be around each other in a way that actually fits into the story, in a way that benefits it. Like, say they have to save this character, and it might help if Kairi comes along with Sora and her contribution actually ends up being what makes the rescue successful, that would be a good way to go about it. Then as soon as you have one or a few scenarios where you can get the two together, you just have make sure the dialogue and interactions they share together is natural and believable. Don't try to make it into a romantic comedy where they start stumbling over their feelings out of nowhere as if this were another universe. Just let them act as they would as if they were still around each other normally without any world-disaster stuff going on and make it so things just naturally evolve a little bit at a time. Maybe some tropes like the "oh you saved me" "now I saved you back" if used to a minimum are fine, but since the friendship is where this thing started from, it's the friendship that ultimately has to keep moving it forward.

 

As far as a "finale kiss" goes or something like that, it really depends on how far they take it within KH3. If it's not enough to warrant it yet, then throwing a kiss in would probably feel a bit too soon in my opinion. A kiss when you get down to it is like a cheery on top of a sundae, it means almost nothing without all of the build up underneath. The important part would be strengthening and developing the relationship between Sora and Kairi to a point where something like that doesn't feel forced. I would say that this is difficult to make believable within one game, as there are several franchises that have taken at least two titles to develop their characters before they pair them up, but seeing as how this is a product of both Disney and Square Enix, this could be a good exception. I mean DIsney is both famous and infamous for their "1 day/3 day" romances and Square has certainly done similar things in the past, though through the clever guise of long plots for their games that take place over an indescernable amount of time. It wouldn't be surprising if this kind of thing was applied to a KH game, and again, it's certainly beneficial that Sora and Kairi have shared plenty of history and chemistry together in previous games. Really the only barrier left is that they spend way too much time apart and need more time together in order for anything to actually bloom and become believable.

 

Whether Sora and Kairi "get together" by the end of KH3 doesn't matter as much to me right now, all I care about is that they take this opportunity of having Kairi being actively involved in the conflict of the game and use it to develop more of her special bond with Sora, as well as develop and strengthen her own character as well. There's certainly a lot of loose ends to tie up here with KH3. There is a chance that the whole Sora and Kairi thing might not even be fully resolved by the end of the game. But that doesn't matter to me as much, so long as whatever they do is handled well enough that it doesn't feel like a waste to place a bookmark in that particular plot point for later games. For me it's not so much a matter of how soon they get them together, it's how well they do it. And I do feel that they ARE going to do it.

Well, personally, I think that their romance should gradually grow throughout the course of the whole game, ya know?  Because it's been clearly apparent in the games that these two definitely have feelings for each other!  Kairi reverted Sora back from a Heartless into a human with her light and love for him!  In Chain Of Memories, Namine was hinting Sora to who was really the most important person in his life!  In Kingdom Hearts II, every time we clear a world that has a Disney couple, Sora thinks of Kairi and gets all googly eyed!  It's clear these two have had their...ahem, certain frustrations building up inside, if you know what I mean.

 

But in all seriousness though, I'm thinking their relationship shall grow throughout the game, and I'm guessing they'll kiss at the very end!

I would prefer the main cast of KH to not get into romantic situations.  The games have been about friendship.
