**** NEW INFORMATION AS OF MARCH 25TH, 2016! ****

 

The PlayStation 4.5 has been confirmed and Sony now has prototypes for this new counsel. And as of right now, at E3 they will be showing off this new counsel by having a longstanding developer produce a game for the PS4.5 that is a MAJOR property title by Sony. They also have more games already in development for this 'new' counsel. I'm not saying that is KH3, and is most likely something else like God Of War or maybe even Jax and Daxter (which would be awesome!). It will also be release in Holiday 2016, so E3 is the best place to announce this new model. The game they are also going to be showing off at E3 will most likely be release in Q2 of 2017! At that point right there, I have a feeling, a very small one, it could be KH3, but that is just my opinion.

 

But we never know how the development will work for many of these games, KH3 included. I hope that it stays on the PS4 just like everyone is saying in the comments, and I believe it will, but if there is a chance of it moving to PS4.5, I think a lot of fans will be upset and dislike it. So who knows what will happen.

So as of now, many of us have heard rumors about 'new' versions of the counsels coming out soon with better hardware that will be able to support bigger games that run with 4K resolution and new hardware (PlayStation VR and maybe an Xbox VR). But after watching all of the Kingdom Hearts 3 trailers again, I can see all of the detail in the Hercules world and Kingdom of Corona and how open the areas seem to be with no load screens (which I hope it stays that way, because that would be awesome!), KH3 is going to be a huge game with a lot of detail and lots of things going on (not like we don't already know that) and as of right now, I don't think that either counsel will run KH3 as great as everyone wants without an update to the system.

 

There is so much attention to details with the jumps, magic, AI movement, character movements, worlds and things like this which are being put into this game will take so much processing power it could cause FPS drops and even crashes if to much is going on and not enough power to run it all. So its not such a hard idea to wrap our heads around the idea of waiting for these rumored counsels to come out to support KH3 because of how BIG this game will be. Maybe it won't need it but looking at the issues the new Hitman game (which is a Square Enix franchise) is having already with crashes and network issues which can be connected to processing power as well. It would be a good thing to wait till a better console comes out, just like they did with the PS3 and Xbox 360 which were updated many, many times, just to make sure the game works right off the bat.

 

I want this game to be playable the moment it drops, and if things like this start happening within the game, so many people, including myself would be upset and disappointed after waiting for so long.

 

I just wanted to see what everyone thought about these rumored 'upgrades' for the consoles and maybe having to wait for KH3 until they were 'made better' than they are now! (If this isn't the right place for this topic, I will delete it and move it if needed)

Yeah, 4K gaming still requires heaps of computational power and isn't feasible in the foreseeable future.

 

Unless they are willing to charge $800+ for a console we won't get one which can run blockbuster AAA games at that resolution. Sony or Microsoft might have a system which upscales to 4K efficiently (such as using cloud computing) but I don't think we will see any native 4K console games unless it is just indie stuff.

True, 4K resolution isn't foreseeable as of now but these console upgrades are going to be needed, especially with PlayStation getting VR this fall. Its going to need a power boost and they have already opened the processor completely (7th core) and it seems likely it will need to get even more power for games coming from the VR and regular games will want to match these powerful VR games. But I guess we won't know till its conformed if there will be a PS 4.5.

FFXV is a far far bigger game that's doing far more when it comes to effects/detail/world size than Kh3 yet it runs fine.

 

I really don't think there's anything to worry about.

We won't really know how well FFXV runs until it is released. Episode Duscae had heaps of problems but the latest trailers seem to be a bit better. Hopefully they can nail 1080p 30fps on ps4 at least.

I'm pretty confident they'll accomplish that.

 

Their games are usually pretty polished.

I highly doubt it.

Square Enix Japan may have quite a few faults, but one thing about all their games is that they run nearly perfectly at release. KH3 should be no exception, although there is no doubt that PlayStation 4.5 will only help.

Well, I bought a PS4 believing that I would get the full KH3 experience on it without having to buy another console or such. I will be very sad if there is a new PS4 and KH3 will be the complete edition only on that system.

if so then i'm jumping ship on this series earlier than i expected

I just got a PS4, so if I got it for nothing and KH3 will only play on 4.5, then you can bet that I will be done with the KH series and PlayStation in general!

The only upgrade they might got is Virtual Reality.

It is for FFXIV so great chance.

KH3 will remain on PS4 and XboxOne no matter what. They have stuck with the two consoles and aren't going to go head over heels, stop work on the title, and take even longer by putting it on a newer version of the PS4 or XboxOne.

I just updated this thread with some new information that has been released on the PlayStation 4.5!

the ps4.5 seems to me to be a slim, if anything. the idea is polarizing the fanbase and after the PSPGo, PSMove, PSVita, I don't imagine they'll jeopardize a good thing by going way of the N3DS XL.
