As we know Kingdom Hearts is well known for some truly iconic villains; however the end of the Dark Seeker Saga will see an end ( hopefully!) to the likes of Ansem sod; Xemnas; Master Xehanort etc. That saying; whilst optimistic; looking ahead to future is an interesting topic ( As a head's up- I've got a few ideas of where the series can go). However, the starting topic for everyone today is; the next antagonist. I will list a few ideas I have myself and I am curious to what people either want to see/have opinions.

I've decided to split this discussion into 2 sections; the first focus on an Individual antagonist. The second will consider a group of antagonists.Since KH has used both categories; one cannot be sure what will happen which is why I'm covering both.

Individual:

1) hidden force antagonist- for those of you who enjoy Star Wars; consider this antagonist to be the Kingdom Heats version of Snoke. Somebody who was very aware of the last saga's events yet played no major role. I see this as plausible in all honesty; it would be easy to either have this figure appear at the end of a secret movie in KH3 and say something cryptic. The hidden force antagonist would then possess knowledge of why Xehanort was defeated and also possess knowledge regarding Sora and co and would be able to focus on a way to defeat Sora. Also I'd like this antagonist to have motives unknown to the audience completely; and as the new series advances slowly realise to our horror that this person is in fact worse than Xehanort and an equal if not greater challenge.

2) enemy from the light- this has been mentioned before; but it's an interesting concept. One would imagine having various darkness antagonists might seem a little mundane; therefore having an enemy so fixated on the light would add a whole new element to the series. It's a fact that light and darkness coexist together and that being said absolute darkness has been shown before; so perhaps absolute light would have a negative impact too. Also having to see Sora fight against a light sided enemy would be very interesting. Way I see this potential working is that the GoLs win in KH3; tilting the balance towards the light; too much light could create a corrupt enemy hell bent on the complete eradication of darkness on the worlds to prevent another war.

3) friends become enemies- this would be controversial to see; but perhaps we are over looking the next antagonist? Perhaps they are right in our sight the whole time? It would be to some a massive outrage if a protagonist became an enemy. That being said; it is a possibility. War changes people; and seeing as KH3 is going to be dark; it's natural to assume that either a light will die/sometjing terrible will happen. Carrying on; guilt could turn to hate/anger and could see a protagonist become rogue ( trying to avenge a friend/ having a serious grudge against the others) and thus come into conflict.

In all honesty; 1 seems the most plausible: 2 would be my ideal choice and 3 could seem luck lustre; yet if done right could have a huge emotional impact. Let us move on to the discussion about group antagonists.

1) the Schemers- the use of will has come up a lot recently with regards to keyblades etc. Now imagine there is an outside group scheming the schemer ( Xehanort). Having a secret group would add an Interesting element to series and similar to TWEWY; each numbered game could have one of the members being defeated. A rough example could be: the worlds are in peace; then one of the group starts ' the masterplan' and at the end is defeated by Sora; however to make it interesting; you could have Sora ask whether they were involved with Xehanort; to which the defeated member could either reply- there's something worse coming/ or even more chilling- Xehanort had no idea he was being used etc.

2) Revolution- after the constant heartless/nobody influx; individuals on various world's instead of thanking the GoLs become angry and start to persecute keyblade wielders. This could be an interesting way to bring in new characters to the protagonists and also perhaps highlight that enemies aren't always evil individuals; but normal individuals too. From this group various other actors with sinister plans could take place ( Disney villains could have more significance using the anti keyblade feeling the pursue own goals; you could have keyblade wielders hunting others) also it would be a good contrast to see Sora instead of being welcomed to worlds; having to be careful and cautious and it would be interesting to have Sora see a persecution of a keyblade wielder- then you could have moral questions- such as am I actually helping? What am I achieving etc.

3) copycat grouop/ fanatics- this group would seek a continuation of Xehanort's work and would see him as a God and thus would see Sora as a Devil figure; therefore to avenge Xehanort- this group could show elements of madness; dedication and twisted nature. I'd have this group misinterpret Xehanort's ambitions badly and carry out what they percieve to be a lost mission/divine duty. Also fantatics are hard to defeat; so Sora and co would be tested in more than one way to win. A mere physical victory wouldn't be enough as they'd be fighting a belief as well this time.

These are a few ideas I had and I eagerly look forward to discussing with people what they think ( also if people enjoyed this discussion- let me know as I have a few ideas for future protagonists; purpose of visiting worlds; time span from three and a few others)

Thanks for reading and all the best

This idea I have been fielding for RPs and it is an awesome concept for KH to explore. Like we all know that "darkness is bad ooohhhh" but then I thought 'how about a character so light that it is also bad?" So I built up from there and it is awe-inspiring. The idea of a keyblade warrior, attuned to war and safeguarding the light against the darkness, going so far as to be indistinguishable from the darkness other than the power they wield and the name they fight for would be an awesome for a future game.

I hate referencing my OCs here, but like I said, this is an idea that I love playing with.

"Strike fast and suddenly. Attack without warning. Secure victory before the foe is aware of the danger. Remember always, a war is easily won if your enemy does not know that they are fighting."

- Keyblade Sniper Shadowhawk, during the Keyblade War.

"It has been said by tacticians everywhere that no plan survives contact with the enemy. I do not waste my time countering the plans of my enemies, master. I never care what they intend to do, for they will never be allowed to do it. Sow within their hearts the gift of absolute terror, and all their plans are ruined in the desperate struggle merely to survive the onslaught on the light."

- Keyblade Leader Nightsparrow, on explaining his actions to his fellow squadmates during the Keyblade War.

"I am your evils returned to you. I am the justice your victims cry out for. The protector of the weak. The light in the darkness."

-Keyblade Medic Raven, before executing a dark keyblade wielder during the Keyblade War.

A non human, Kingdom hearts original characters have all been human, up until Chirithy of course, which i still think is a stupid character, but they need to expand their races because it doesnt make sense because non humans are clearly able to wield keyblades (Mickey) and be corrupted by darkness (Baymax) and theres a whole universe out there that can hold different races. Also more female villains, I still cant believe that out of all the original villains there's a single female and she was the first of the O13 to die.

I would have someone who goes farther than Master Xehanort. Someone who is also stronger and more aggressive than Xehanort. Maybe start bringing out elements from the ancient times of the series timeline.

Vanitas should turn into the Vegeta of Kingdom Hearts. Xehanort's plan should succeed in some ways and impact the future of the series.

A survivor of the keyblade war who took refuge in the realm of darkness after witnessing all the destruction, she's hell bent on hunting down every last keyblade wielder in the universe to prevent another war. With this type of concept we could get a game during the events of the first keyblade war :O;)

The dark seeker saga will end with a war but I don't want the new saga to end with a war. I'd rather the next saga be a bit more unique.

I'd definitely like to see an enemy from the light, we've already seen how someone can go too far for light with Eraqus

The last two points in the fist part gave me an idea. What if it was someone who is both. There is at least one person who will be active in the Second Keyblade War and completely light. And to the first point, While she was an important plot point in the first game and will actually be active in KH3, up until now, she's always been on the sidelines.

I want Vanitas to return/survive after Xehanort's defeat in III... To continue where he left off.

Hmm, this is a very interesting topic!  I just love these kinds of discussions, for it's always interesting to see what other people want from the next saga!  Considering villains, there are many possibilities! :D

I, for one, would love for a female villain to take center stage for the next saga!  Hey, women can be just as deadly as men, Maleficent being proof of that!  But yeah, I'd love for a woman obsessed with the light!  Ooh, actually, picture this!

Okay, so perhaps there's this sacred order of Keyblade Wielders that has existed for a very long time, and over the course of the Xehanort Saga, they kept a watchful eye over the events that transpired during Xehanort's trek of destruction!  This order of Keyblade Wielders will have seen everything but not have acted upon the situation at hand, ya know?  After the Xehanort Saga ends and the new saga begins, I expect that there will be a great era of peace!  Like, for example, a significant time gap between Kingdom Hearts III and Kingdom Hearts IV!  After many years of peace had passed, we could see this order of Keyblade Wielders spurring into action, due to an unknown threat, or of their own accord!  They'd probably try to hunt down Sora and friends, for even though they fought for the light, they all have traces of darkness in them!  Kind of like: "As long as you have darkness, you are a threat to the light!" kind of thing, ya know?  But yeah, I'd love for something like this to happen!

I also love HMK's idea of Keyblade Hunters!  People searching for Keyblade Wielders and dispatching them, because since the Keyblade is a weapon that can cause just as much destruction as it can harmony, the Keyblade Hunters would hunt down any and all Keyblade Wielders, to prevent any catastrophe such as Xehanort's to ever repeat itself again, ya know?  But yeah, there's lots of ways the next saga could go in terms of villains! :3

A villain that uses the power of light......like an extreme outlook on the side of light in which he'd try to purge anyone that is fine with darkness being in their hearts and would try to advocate a new belief in which those chosen by him would be the only one to survive once heshe uses Kingdom  Hearts to remake the universe into his own image

............think of it like the Law Alignment from Shin Megami Tensei
