April 23, 20169 yr Author If I was able to switch back between different characters in KH2, it would be freaking awesome. Sorry, but I'm fully on the other side of the spectrum of this argument and I refuse to budge. Multiple characters is a positive in my book and no harm can be done from utilizing it. I respect your opinion
April 23, 20169 yr The perfect combo: -Tutorial section with Lea and Kairi doing keyblade training. (approx 1 hour long) -Prologue section with Xehanort and Eraqus (Approx 2-3 hours long) -Main game with SDG (Approx 40 hours+ long) -Secret Chapter with Riku and Mickey that takes place during the main game and is unlocked afterwards (Approx 3 hours long)

That is borderline perfect

Sorry, but I'm fully on the other side of the spectrum of this argument and I refuse to budge. Multiple characters is a positive in my book and no harm can be done from utilizing it. But that's the issue, harm will be done to the game with too many playable characters. Sora, Donald and Goofy's story will be weaker because of it. And when I mean weaker, I mean that the Disney worlds will be shorter and we'll have less opportunity to play with Sora's bells and whistles like Attraction Flow and his Keyblade Transformations.
April 24, 20169 yr If the game is not build with a narrative that supports multiple characters POV change then we shouldn´t ask them to implement it, otherwise we would get a disjointed narrative.
April 24, 20169 yr But that's the issue, harm will be done to the game with too many playable characters. Nah. Again, these are next gen consoles, there's more space. Besides, I'm not asking for multiple 300+ hour campaigns, just a decent amount for each character or set of characters Edited April 24, 20169 yr by Firaga Sensei

Besides, I'm not asking for multiple 300+ hour campaigns, just a decent amount for each character or set of characters You need to be realistic as opposed to idealistic. You'll be dissapointed when there aren't many playable characters. Just saying.
April 25, 20169 yr You need to be realistic as opposed to idealistic. You'll be dissapointed when there aren't many playable characters. Just saying. Actually, I would be immensely satisfied. I want to play as more people than just SDG and not amount of "realism" is going to change my stance. And fyi, It's not out of the realm of the reality to speculate on something that we don't even know is going to be a real thing or not. Edited April 25, 20169 yr by Firaga Sensei

And fyi, It's not out of the realm of the reality to speculate on something that we don't even know is going to be a real thing or not. Two words, hardware limitations. I'm not going to change your mind, just don't expect to be dissapointed when Sora and the tutorial character are the only playable characters in the game.
April 25, 20169 yr Any plans for multiplayer in Kingdom Hearts III?Nomura: Multiplayer elements are also under consideration. We are also looking into online capabilities. We will announce more details regarding this at a later time. If the story continues from KH3D, then is it possible that we will be able to control not only Sora but other characters such as Riku and Kairi?Nomura: I can’t say the possibility is zero. Can we expect a multiplayer cooperative mode with many playable characters in KHIII?Nomura: The Kingdom Hearts series always had Sora as the main character, so we want to make the most of Sora, playable Sora of course. But again, Kingdom Hearts III is going to be the last chapter of the Kingdom Hearts main numbering title series, so lots of fans actually want to play as their favorite characters in Kingdom Hearts III so we will consider that, we will listen to what fans wants but hopefully we could give you some surprises in the future announcements. Just sayin' it's pretty plausible
April 25, 20169 yr Two words, hardware limitations. This isn't the PS2, this is the PS4. If there wasn't multiple playable characters, I highly doubt limited power would be the reason.
April 26, 20169 yr You are really underestimating the power of the PS4. This isn't the PS2, this is the PS4. If there wasn't multiple playable characters, I highly doubt limited power would be the reason. I'm not, I just honestly believe that Square Enix would rather place emphasis on their large scale worlds and high rendered cutscenes and animation as opposed to making as many playable characters as possible (for instance, making Rapunzel's hair as faithful to the movie's render as possible which took a large amount of rendering time). Limited power would be a consideration. For every multiple playable character, there's less for Sora, Donald and Goofy to do. Nomura said he's considering: not guaranteeing multiple playable characters.
April 26, 20169 yr I like being able to play as different characters, but only in BBS and DDD. I think the numbered games should stick with just Sora, while having other characters appear as party members, we had Riku for 2 in twtnw. I like the idea of fighting against the 13 darknesses while partnering with another keyblade wielder, eg. Lea when fighting Isa.
April 26, 20169 yr I'd want to play as Sora, Riku, Kairi, Lea, Ventus, Aqua, and King Mickey because the more the merrier!
April 27, 20169 yr I'm all for playing as different characters, but I like SDG as my main party and switching out in different worlds as needed/wanted. In the side games, playing as different characters is really fun. I just don't know how I feel about it in a main-story game. For example, switching as Sora and Riku in KH3D was interesting to me and I enjoyed it, but I don't want that to be an option in KHIII. (The online option, like they had in BBS - Arena Mode - would be okay though.) I will say that I do like the idea of continuing with the KHII tradition of starting with a different character than Sora to learn the new control system. (Whenever I replay KHII, I spend a very long time with Roxas because I love him and don't want him to leave. I get very emotional over him.) Edited April 27, 20169 yr by rvenxiii
April 30, 20169 yr Like some other people have been saying, I think SDG is the way to go. I'd rather play as SDG for the whole game, than split it up with multiple different characters, all with different techniques and attacks. Let's finish this trilogy the way we started it.
May 1, 20169 yr I'd be happy to play as multiple characters, and Nomura's words about playing favorite characters interest me. I'm not holding my breath on it though, I'll be happy either way. I think though, that during the final battle, the respective Guardian and their respective Seeker rival, battle it out. Examples: Sora battles Xemnas and Master Xehanort. Riku battles Ansem, SoD and Young Xehanort. Lea (if he fills in for Terra) battles Saix, ect. Anyway, I would love to play as characters other than Sora, but I'll be content and enjoy KH3 either way.
May 1, 20169 yr As far as multiple playable characters go, I could easily see it being something like KH2, where you had a prologue with one character (Roxas) and then move one with Soras story. As for who that prologue character might be, I would not be surprised if if is Young Master Eraqus, as seen in our most recent trailer.
