I'm not happy about it as I mentioned in the other thread. It was amazing to see just how quickly both parties went back on their promises though. Only about an hour or so after the final vote count and Cameron dropped out despite promising he would immediately file the Brexit order (effectively this delays the whole two year process by months since he's left it up to his successor) and the leader of the Leave campaign saying "Yeahhhh so about that £350 million to the NHS uhhh here's the thing about that...."

Both parties lied after only an hour of winning / losing. That is a new record on lying.

 

It is what it is. I'm not pleased at all but right now all I have left is hope that this won't be the worst thing ever... Not looking good so far.

It was hilarious to see "What happens if we leave EU?" get a 300% increase in searches on Goolge AFTER the voting. Probably should have researched that and THEN decided, lads.

It was a Referendum after all, the decision IS left up to Parliament who can very well say "No, we're not leaving. Sorry." which is more likely than it appears due to the mere notion of leaving causing a small Stock Market Crash and the Pound to drop sharply in value.

 

And hey, if we do end up leaving, it might not be a complete disaster nor will it be a Racist/Fascist Haven. Plus, Boris would have to be the Conservative Party Leader in order to be Prime Minister, though I still think that David jumping ship in a few months may not be the wisest decision.

Your entire argument can be solved quite simply. We have *complete* control of our borders, in fact the vast majority of migration is non-eu. But please by all means, carry on playing the immigration card.

 

We just choose not to do anything with it, and we could easily negotiate an immigration deal with the EU that could see the level go down, but the truth? Most people who go on and on about how immigrants get everything handed to them on a plate and say how they're taking our jobs and houses, are just xenophobic and are using this as an excuse to make the country "British" come off it.

My grandfather came to this country in the 60's, back when Britain was begging people from the former colonies to come over. He was a very well educated man, but he decided to come over because he thought he would be able to have a better quality of life.

 

He became a bus driver, and endured countless racist abuse from ordinary people to the higher echelons of the government. Unfortunately this was normal. He had to work hard to earn this for his family, and he certainly wasn't handed things on a plate.

 

My dad and his brothers and sisters all came over in the late 80's, and it was supplied to be a better quality of life for them. Maybe the money was more, but I wonder if it was worth it for being beaten up everyday, being gobbed on, being called a wog or a paki. And it's most definitely had a lasting psychological effect on him, whether he acknowledges or not.

 

He's had a massive upwards struggle just so he could provide for his family, we hardly get any benefits, and he's too damn proud to ever apply for free school meals for me. The small amount we did get was slashed when the tories came to power.

My grandparents were refugees from Uganda, they fled after being told to get out by a racist dictator named Idaya Meen (No clue how to spell his name). They worked in Wales for pennies! PENNIES in a factory, do you still honestly think migrants get things handed to them?

My father came here at 13 in the mid 1970s, he went to school and went from job to job because he wasn't the smartest. Since 1987, my father has woken up at 4am, stacked shelves, drove for hours to the city to get supplies for his shops, filled up his van with tons of supplies and drove back, only to unload it all. He even did all of this whilst running a pizza place, making pizzas and delivering them until 11pm in the night. He's never had anything handed to him.

 

My father was dead broke, the christmas my eldest sister was born he only had £5 to spend on her. You shouldn't belittle the struggles of someone just because they are a migrant, that's unfair.

Sorry about this. There's a strange and difficult to describe atmosphere around here right now though. You'd have to be here to experience it.

 

I apologise for anything I may have said, but emotions are running high everywhere, I've been awake from 2am till 6pm (I had a nap after that. And before that I was asleep from 11pm till 2am. Combined with the desperate feeling, it's a perfect storm.

Anyways, from what I've read I agree with those saying that Britain should've stayed, especially 2 quid.

 

I didn't want to state my opinion too soon since I've missed a lot of information recently, but now I think it's fair for me to say that UK should've stayed. Let's be honest, UK was supported by the EU and it helpped them to stay strong, now they're alone, not quite as United, as people said, not even among themselves.

 

Of course, being independent has its pros, but it has far more cons, at least from what we can see now. You never know, maybe Britain manages to do something to get even stronger now that it's independent, there's nothing stopping them, in exchange of not having support from the EU that is.

 

From the looks of it, Britain is going downhill, and it will get worse in the long run unless something is done. Maybe they'll just manage to get support from another community or country (maybe US? You never know) and manages to get through this.

 

 

If things are done properly, Britain should have quite a bad time now, but sooner or later they should be able to put themselves together and keep going, maybe even better than before.

 

 

 

I support Britain staying, but since they're most likely leaving at this point, we might as well just stay positive and look at the few positive outcomes this decision could have.

This is kinda bad for Portugal as well, mainly because of our Port Wine exportations

Y'know at first I was really annoyed that Leave won. But now I just hope and think we should all unite and work together to make sure that this is as positive for as many people, UK or otherwise as it possible can be.

We have a freedom now, let's use that freedom to create a better voting system in the country which will be much fairer and will hopefully crack down on all the lying. Let's use the extra £238 million a week to make the country a better place to live for those who are struggling. And use our new freedom to create trading opportunities with countries and make things as good as they can be. A leader leads by example.

 

We are in this now. And all this hating on people who have a different opinion to you, or calling for a 2nd referendum is not the way forward. We've survived worse tha just leaving the EU, if we all pitch in together then we could turn this into a positive thing even though it may not be what we voted for.

If you want a democracy then you have to be prepared to not always get your way when the public get to vote. Just ask Scotland... Ohhh political jokes, so edgy.

 

But seriously though arguing about days gone seems a bit silly to me. We need answers and not arguments. If you feel duped by this then let's use this new freedom to make positive changes so this can't happen again. Maybe if a politician breaks a promise within one day of winning then the country will go right back to the polls again...

Either way, it's not worth dividing people any more than this referendum already has. You're either part of the solution or you're part of the problem.

I keep hearing this. I keep seeing people saying not to be sore and to just move on because a majority has won. I'm not a bad loser I'm not a whinger.I'm not a scare mongerer either. But we really can't stand by this result! Because a majority has not *won*. There's more than enough people who voted leave that regret their decision. As it stands now, the British public - as a CLEAR majority - want to stay. The impact of brexit is too damn high to be signed away by 4% of the public, because they were misinformed and they never thought their vote would count. There's just too much at stake to accept this decision. When article 50 is triggered, I'll be the first to stand down and accept. But right now, when nothings been set in stone, I'll do what I can to make things better.

This is why Cameron said that as soon as a Leave result would come through, he would trigger article 50 straight away, now he's decided to step down and delay the process for months... That must be really annoying to the EU as well because it's making it look like countries can leave and then just chill out for months while they figure out a way to get the best deal while still maintaining the independence the country has voted for.

I'm not a politician and right now I'm very glad I'm not. The government is in chaos because the current government was assembled on a country that was part of the EU and now it's not, of the country is going to change then the people leading it also need to change.

 

I very much doubt there will be a 2nd referendum and even if there is... What if we have one and people vote to leave again? We just keep going around in circles until eventually the result is remain? No. I voted remain and I truly believe that it was the better option for many reasons.

But at the end of the day, it is what it is.

 

Those who regret voting leave, or were misinformed, you should have done your research and not just followed the clearly false promises.

 

But that's one of the downsides of a democratic country, it gives everyone a chance to have a voice and I don't know if you realised this yet but... Most people are pretty bloody stupid.

Well, I make my online presence obvious. What can I say. But in all seriousness, I'm not outright against the decision to leave the EU, I'm against the motivation for the decision to leave the EU. It's evident that this campaign was a fear-mongering based campaign upon British nationalism, and now that the fantasy is replaced with reality, our government is unable to comes to grips with what they've unleashed. David Cameron is such a pleb. Stepping down without giving international media outlets a reason to be reassured of Brexit.
