Oh, wow.  The article really is misleading, as I thought they were stating it as a fact.  They got me all excited for nothing.

I'm just psyched that Nintendo is going to be switching back to cartridges.  The portable controller thing is cool, too, though.

Cartridges were so badass looking I still have loads of them in my closet.

It would make sense for Nintendo to go back to cartridges if the NX ends up being a hybrid.

OMG, this has to stop. We still don't know ANYTHING about the system, and already people are making rumors and getting excited over nothing.

actually, you misunderstood the situation. before I edited the title of the post it said "Nintendo NX is a portable console with detachable controllers" because I didn't know it was a rumor until a few minutes later when gamexplain posted a video about this with the word rumor in its title. That's when I realized it's a rumor. It wasn't our fault that we got excited over nothing. It was the site's fault for having a misleading title

Don't get too discouraged Mystics. The NX having cartridges is probably the strongest rumor going around out of all the rumors and it has some strong truth that's going to happen. Macronix, the company which traditionally supplies Nintendo with its ROM chips - suggests that the firm could opt to use cartridges or game cards for NX, like it does with the 3DS.the company recently began in January testing on a newer line of 32nm ROM chips. The Nintendo 3DS uses 75nm (max 8GB storage) so it's fair to assume that these new cards won't be for the existing handheld - while it's little more than speculation, it's safe to assume that the newer cards are intended for NX. The company also is expecting big sales in the first quarter of 2017 so it truly is leading up to being true.If this report holds out, the NX would be able to ditch a disc drive altogether. If true, the use of carts instead of discs would line up with Nintendo’s promise that the NX would be a “brand new concept”.Till then I'd just wait for some concrete information or something to be confirmed so you don't keep getting let down.I think Nintendo has said they want everyone to be surprised and they have to handle this in a way so no one thinks this is a wii number 3 (there moveing away from the wii brand praise the Lord) Nintendo's not fooling around they're keeping this system and info close to their chest. they're so scared they don't even want Sony or Ms to copy them (that's why we didn't see Nx at E3 the president is scared of copycats) it's good to see they're serious about it. They have to handle the nx and its reveal as delicately as possible.

I'm not giving any credence to rumors, all they'll do is just overhype what the NX will be and then everybody will end up disappointed because it doesn't turn out to be the game system with a built-in toaster that everybody was saying it was going to be. It'll just be something incredibly Nintendo-y that will allow it to compete with current gen consoles, and whatever features it has to accomplish that will be revealed when they reveal it, and that's enough for me.

rumors are supposed to be taken lightly anyways, but it is really interesting when people start speculating on the rumor. Even if the rumor doesn't turn out like people think it will, it's still honestly quite fun talking about something that could become true over time

That's certainly interesting, so perhaps there is a greater probability than what I had initially assumed.  I think it would honestly be a smart move for Nintendo to do something more innovative and to move away from discs, as it would set them apart from Sony and Microsoft.  It would also herald back to the old days of Nintendo, something I also would really enjoy.

 

 

 

Moving on, I really hope that they find ways to make the NX new and innovative.  I mean, we all love new and improved graphics as well as the next person, but why create new consoles that are exactly the same with the exception of new features?  I can see the step up from the Gamecube and the Wii, but the Wii U was practically the same thing as the Wii with the exception of the gamepad (which really served a small purpose in the long scheme of things, and wasn't really worth the new console).  The Wii series has lasted for a very long time, and it'll be very nice for Nintendo to bring something fresh to the table.

Hmm, this is an interesting rumor!  We'll have to wait and see until we get closer to the NX's launch to see if this rumor proves true!  Until then, all we can do is wait!

even if that's the case, at the end of the day, it's really how you handle your hype about these kinds of things because you can expect the NX to be what you think it will be, but they don't have to be excited or hyped for it though, so if the NX rumor gets debunked, they can't really get disappointed

They shouldn't get disappointed, but they will end up making themselves anyway. We've seen this happen way too often, a bunch of people get psyched up by some non-news and when actual news surfaces that's contradictory to that they exclaim that they were either mislead or disappointed, let down. I swear if the NX turns out to still use compact disks there's going to be a bajillion Nintendo fanboys that whine and say they just should have stuck with the cartridge idea, despite Nintendo never giving any direct confirmation they were ever considering that. That's the only problem I have, when there's complaining without just reason, it's just noise.
