Square Enix have announced that a new Kingdom Hearts soundtrack is to be released. The soundtrack, called the Kingdom Hearts 10th Anniversary Fan Selection -Melodies & Memories-, will be released in Japan on September 19, 2012 for a price of ¥3,500 (approximately US$43.65). Square Enix have also created a page for the soundtrack on their e-STORE.

The track listing of the soundtrack will be decided by fans! In order to vote for what songs you want to appear on the soundtrack, you can visit the soundtrack's official website and select the song there. The voting period is between June 22, 2012 and July 8, 2012. You can actually have a listen to a sample of every single Kingdom Hearts song from the website, so we highly recommend that you check it out and vote!

Update 1: SQEX.INFO have translated Yoko Shimomura's comments regarding the soundtrack, and these comments can be read below.

Hello, this is Yoko Shimomura, I’m in charge of the series’ music.

For always playing the Kingdom Hearts games, and then listening to the soundtracks, thank you so much.

So! To commemorate the 10th anniversary, this project will contain the best tracks of the Kingdom Hearts series. Plus, we’ll be recording the songs chosen by you guys! I’m happy about it, but I’m also super nervous.

Which songs will be chosen? Which songs will unfortunately be chosen? Lol.

To everyone who has played every game up until now, to those who own all the existing soundtracks, and to those who are thinking about buying this soundtrack, now is you chance to recommend which songs you want to hear.

Each and every one of your voices is important to me, this project was implemented with you in mind. I’d be overjoyed if you can find time to participate in the voting.

I’m really, already overfilled with emotions about this.

They're all great songs, but seriously, does everything they choose have to revolve around the same damn people?

Pick something like Lord of the Castle or L'Oscurità dell'Ignot.

It's probably just the ones who like the Roxas, Xion and Axel trio spamming the votes. They are good songs but there are so many more I would have picked over them, I voted for Fantasia Alla Marcia, Rage Awakened -Origin-, Dearly Beloved (BbS) and a few others but I doubt they'll be put on.

    I knew that Neverland Skies and Blast Away! -Gummi Ship III- never stood a chance. :( At least the orchestral version of Simple and Clean is on there.

    Wait where does it say the cd is only 10 songs? at that price i imagine it would be like atleast 70ish songs more or less on atleast 2 cds....

    I'm okay with about half that list, but the Dearly Beloved Reprise version in KH2 is better than the KH1 imo.

    Yeah, that's what I was implying.

    I'd rather they put all the songs together and just sell that. So everyone's happy...(about the songs, not the price tag.)

    ...Maybe I'll wait til someone posts them on YouTube and see if I love them more than the originals first. x3 Even though I love a lot of those, so I'm tempted to...but I'm also broke for the next year. xP Besides, I'm still waiting for that half-baked promise of getting the KH3D soundtrack in NA! Gotta get that first.
