Kingdom Hearts 3D demand higher than expected in Italy

Nintendo of Italy have reported availability problems with Kingdom Hearts 3D [Dream Drop Distance] in Italy. While the game released on July 20, 2012, it was only available in English in the country-- however, the demand for the game was higher than expected, leading to a shortage of copies. Nintendo of Italy provided the following statement, which has been translated and summarized by Mpl90.

Unlike Nintendo fo Spain, they decided to distribute the game even if not localized in Italian, but the demand has been far bigger than anticipated, thus the availability problems. However, new copies are coming soon ( but not as soon as in other periods of the year, since it's summer now).

That's a shame. I guess some people can order online... but I feel bad for the little kids who have no other means of getting the game...

HAHA I feel so lucky now that I snatched my copy of the game two days before the actual release.

I still wish they would have translated this game, it feels so out of place to have all games in Italian but this one in English, sigh.

Same thing happened here (Netherlands). You know when it'll be next available at most stores? August 17th

Something similar in Spain. The day after the release of the game in most shops wasn't available!

This is what happens if you release a game in Europe before North America. All hell breaks loose.

Ha! I mean, HA! Good thing I bought the game on day one (so to speak, my shop only got it on July 25th). Now I'm happy to say I'm already doing the post-game stuff.

By the way, this SHOULD at last tell Square Enix that, despite the recession, they STILL have a fanbase here in Italy. Which means, translation patch, translation patch, patch, patch, patch.

I highly doubt it's going to happen, but I would love a translation patch. I'm just used to playing Kingdom Hearts in Italian, I guess.

Same here. I mean, it's not that I'm mad about the lack of translation per se, given I know English as you should be able to tell by this comment. It's just that other Italian KH fans aren't as lucky and don't know English, which kills the entire point behind the Mementos and the Chronicles, originally meant to attract fans new to the series. Done with the game celebrating the 10th anniversary of the series, no less! I hope this is the first, last, and only time it happens, because the whole "10th anniversary" thing implies that new fans will be welcomed with a series that would be "in English, German and French only from now on".

But aside from that... the main thing is that, unlike the previously English-only Final Fantasy series, this has never happened before with the KH series. And seeing the European version lacks Italian text... and playing the game itself without Italian text... feels just plain weird.

Still awesome, but weird.

Hoping the following won't merge with my previous comment as it usually happens with the KH13 blogposts, then... yeah, that's pretty much what I meant with said comment of mine.

I mean... a patch. How hard could it possibly be to implement one of those? A friend of mine did one for the freeware video game TrackMania Nations, then giving it to the devs themselves who in turn eventually distributed it and included with said game's retail version, released later at a small price.

I just wish I could write one myself, and then send it to Square Enix.

This makes me happy, and sad. I find it sad that some users who pre-ordered (or was going to buy the game) that did not receive the game. But I'm happy that Kingdom Heart's still is more popular than most people think. I hope that the developers see this and might even begin releasing the game's back on console. But, who know's.
