Spring Break has started for me, so its given me an excuse to try to give myself carpel tunnel and do art.. On todays thread, I take a look at Code Lyoko's style, along with other drawings in the mix.

If they can do stuff like Attack on Titan marathons, than they can do the same for other long running shows, couldnt they?

For those who werent aware, a while ago they announced that Toonz, the animation program used by Studio Ghibli and the people who animated Futurama, is now open source and free to download That means that anyone can now have a shot at making their own shorts and movies without having to pay big money in order to get the program needed to animate in the first place. I wanted to make a follow up to my last thread considering I wasnt clear on why college has been draining for me personally. Putting aside all the regular bullshit that comes with my major( I still need to take classes like math and history for general ed and its bullshit cause I dont want to do math to get my major in animation), when it comes to animation specifically, I never imagined that it would be so tiring at first. Not in regards to the time it takes to make an animation(cause it isnt exactly our goal to make things look pretty so it helps save time), Im talking about animation being tiring on your sanity. To all those who aspire to be animators, prepare to lose your sanity, cause when youre taking your fundamentals class, and your midterm comes around, odds are they are gonna ask you to draw and animate one thing SACKS!LOTS AND LOTS OF SACKS! The logic behind this assignment is, if you can draw something like a sack of flour, and animate it as if it were an actual character, than you can animate anything.Cool fact, when Disney brings in animators, their first test that is assigned to them is to animate a flour sack, to test their animation skills. Even when jumping in 3D, they still have a similar test. Here is a doc form Disney telling you one of the reasons why they make you do this exercise. Now, cool fact aside, this assignment is due basically 4 weeks from now. Now, imagine, 4 weeks, of drawing nothing but FREAKING SACKS OF FLOUR! OH MY GOD MY BRAIN IS GONNA BE FRIED BY THE END OF IT ALL. I have like 5 pages already like the one up above where its just full of damn sacks, by the third page alone you are gonna go insane. However, this exercise is indeed good for people wanting to draw, not even necessarily for animation, but drawing in general. I tried applying what I learned about drawing sacks into my recent drawings (the whole torso idea) and these are my results. So if anything, the whole sack exercise does breakdown the concept of the human torso in a nutshell. i just wish the exercise wasnt so tiring to do CAUSE ITS JUST SACKS OF FLOUR! Also, I wanted to tell you guys who the girl was in my last drawing that I say I keep drawing over and over again in my last thread. Her name is Makoto from "The Girl Who Leapt Throught Time." And yes, the drawings you see above are the same character. So yeah, thats the specific reason why you wont see me put my drawings on here, cause its just sacks.

Im in college now and by god it is the most draining thing ever holy shit. I hardly ever have time for my own personal art anymore. College hasnt stopped me from drawing mind you(Im getting my major in animation after all so I always have to be drawing) but all my art has basically been homework. Anything that I end up doing is brainless sketches. This was done in class out of boredom. Also my brain has been so fried that the only girl I ever draw now is this girl. I swear by the end of college Ill be able to draw her perfectly on a whim. Anyways, for those who cared, thats why I havent been uploading art. Its not that Im not doing it, most of it just isnt worth posting.

It seems youve skipped a big part of that sentence there, notice how I said "in the context of that world." Zootopia is supposed to represent the world we live in now, a modern civilized world. So in the context of that world, beating up random animals with a keyblade would be the equivalent of beating someone up in the streets of LA or what have you, aka youd look like an ass for doing so. I have not seen The Great Mouse Detective, but as far as Robin Hood goes, it fits more in align with what Kingdom Hearts goes for, a fantasy world. A tale of two rouge thieves up against a corrupt kingdom with an evil king, fighting the kings army along the way, it allows way more room to bash some heads in, With it being a classic folklore tale, putting heartless in there would be more excused as well. Zootopia however is centered around two cops solving a mystery, thats it. The main characters in Zootopia dont exactly fight anyone, if anything they fight political issues more than anything, and god knows I dont want Kingdom Hearts to talk to me about politics. With the world just basically being our world as well, you cant just put heartless in there and expect people to think "yeah, this makes sense." Its dumb from a writing standpoint to just paste heartless into a world that they dont fit in. If you cant fight heartless, than all thats left to possibly fight is other animals, and again, in the context of that world, youd look like an ass for beating up innocent civilians, including the ones that were to go savage. I dont see how they can put in Zootopia in KH and make it work, there are no elements in this world to justify fighting heartless. Sure you said Nick and Judy could be given a case that involves heartless, but again, that would be just pasting them into the world. I just cant see it working, and if they were to put it in, it would not be executed very well, and if its not executed well, you might as well not put it in at all.

Considering that youve been big on wanting Zootopia in KH3, I wanted to ask on how you think Zootopia would work from a gameplay perspective, cause after watching the movie I know it warrants some representation, but I can not see this world working from a gameplay perspective. When looking at Zootopia, the whole story centers around these two guys solving this mystery, at least thats the story in its most basic form anyway. With that in mind, Zootopia doesnt exactly allow much freedom from a gameplay perspective to do what Kingdom Hearts does, that being fighting heartless. BH6 at least gave us the nanobots to work with, giving us justification to fight heartless in one form or another. But in the world of Zootopia, theres nothing that we can really fight. The world of Zootopia, aside from the people being animals, is basically the modern civilized world that we live in right now. Theres no comic book like villians that we can fight and its not a fantasy world so you cant really put heartless in it either and have it be somewhat excused. The only thing you can fight in Zootopia would be other animals, and in the context of that world, doing that would seem like a really messed up thing to do more than anything. So do you see anything from a gameplay perspective that would make Zootopia work? Cause I cant.

As a man who went to watch the movie, I can assure you that the movies execution was fantastic. So feel free to take that opinion however you will.

Recently just watching the film, I can not see Kingdom Hearts working with Zootopia. While it is a great movie for sure, trying to implement Zootopia with KH3 seems waaaaaaaaaay to much of a hassle. For one, the world of Zootopia is huge, trying to cut up that world would simply not do Zootopia justice. Its not like Inside Out where you can have it take place in your mind, or Tangled where there are only a couple of landmarks, it just be waaay too much for the devs to put in at this stage of development. Second, from a gameplay perspective, I cant see it working. While they can change Sora's appearence easily like they done in the past, they cant exactly make him do much in Zootopia. Theres not exactly a plot element that they can use in the movie to justify Sora fighting Heartless. BH6 gave them microbots to work with, but Zootopia doesnt exactly have any element like that. Lastly, it just doesnt fit with KH. Zootopia's tone just doesnt fit with KH's more fantasy oriented kind of adventure. I just cant see it, they both just clash to me. Its like the whole ketchup and ice cream thing. Both are great but put em together and it just creates a bad mix.

For those who arent convinced yet by the trailers and advertising Premise: Like the trailers show, the fresh new police officer Judy Hopps goes to Zootopia to solve a case, taking her new sly friend Nick Wilde (the fox) along the way. Than shennanigans ensue (As you can no doubt tell, this review isnt in depth, cause I dont want to spoil shit or waste your time) Execution:I remember a while back someone on this site said that the premise of this movie was stupid and should have never been picked up by Disney. If this movie proves anything, is that Execution beats Premise any firetrucking day cause by god this movie is SO DAMN CLEVER THANK YOU GOD DISNEY FOR ROLLING WITH THIS IDEA. This is the best animated comedy that has come out in a while, if you dont laugh at any of the jokes its gonna at least put a big grin on your face. Also, be prepared for some twists, cause this movie is far from predictable. Me being invested in the movie industry has made me a critic who has to predict where a movie is going, and this movie threw me for a loop like 3 times. Also, for fans of Breaking Bad,keep your eyes open, cause you might notice something. Just throwin that out there Animation:OH MY GOD IT LOOKS FREAKING GORGEOUS! Id say go there for the visuals alone, the world of Zootopia is so huge and grand and colorful, youll be sucked right in. The best looking CG animated movie Ive seen in a while TL; DR- Id recommend this movie 10 times over, fans of Disney will not be disapointed, this comedy will for sure put a smile on your face, it did for me, and I never smile.

I have a real problem when it comes to this what you said right here ....How? How can you say you are only interested in a "interesting story" without all those other factors? Granted, you dont exactly need all those elements to make a good story, but you cant JUST have an interesting idea for a story or an interesting set up and call it a good movie or book,ect. without any of the other factors A good story usually is the result of all the other factors that you listed above. Why the hell would you care about a story if the characters are boring?If the interactions are boring? If literally everything is boring and dull but the idea of the story is "interesting"? There are even movies that have admittedly stupid story ideas, or movies that have not much of a story at all, but people love the movies. Ratatouille? The idea of its story is, on paper, completely stupid, but give it to the right hands and they can give that idea meaning, character, charm,ect. And have you ever heard of The Big Lebowski? There is hardly any actual story to it, but look how many people adore that movie, theyve even made books discussing how deep it is. Im not gonna argue with your opinions on the movies youve seen, but the idea of you being sold on a movie just because the story seems "interesting" without any of those other factors baffles me as a person who wants to be part of the entertainment industry.

Making video games is a passion-driven thing. If you love what youre doing and see that what youre doing is loved by hundreds and hundreds of people, you kind of push aside the pain. I mean just look at Sakurai and Smash Bros, he was dealing with a lot of his own personal health problems, but he pushed on regardless when creating Smash 4.

I got my tablet working again, trying to make more art. Supposed to be Lara Croft, Ill finish it eventually. Anyways, I wanted to ask you guys if you want to see me do some kind of dedicated retrospective thread when it comes to my art "career" quote on quote. Im seeing a lot more people wanting to try their hand at art, and Id figure that if I do some retrospect kind of thing that looks back on what Ive done, I can give you guys some advice as to where you should start building on your skills, along with some other small tidbits to make learning less of a chore. If I feel that enough people like this post or make a comment on this, than Ill do it. If not, than oh well. Well, I dont want to end it on that note, let me post some other piece I did. Anyways, have a good one.
