  1. The problems are deep-rooted and not as simpke as they may appear to you. I play both the Japanese and the global version since the first day they were released and I gave the game a 1★ rating simply because they don't listen to what people actually want. The game, including the browser version, have been around for over three years, yet we have barely advanced in the original story. Apart from a few tidbits here and there, we know nothing. Instead of giving us some side story at lea...
  2. I am also hoping for side quests to be included. Minigames are the bane of my existence and even having just 10 hours of them feels like an awful amount in comparison to the actual plot. Side quests could also provide more variety and add story tidbits here and there without resorting to strange minigames. No wonder they're running out of space. I hope it really consists of secret bosses and the like as well and not have too many mini games... They're a nice extra but if they had to cut other content because of them, it feels a little redundant to have such an abundance of small little games. Either way, I'll wait and see. I hope not too many of them are mandatory though. Apart from that, I think 40-50 hours of pure main story seems like an adequate amount. It surely won't include every little thing we'd like to see or resolve everything but I think it's better than a plot that takes too long and may become more confusing than necessary. It also increases its replay value for me since I'm more prone to replaying games that take up to 50 hours than anything beyond that. I know that people can invest hundreds and thousands of hours into one game but that's not my cup of tea. All in all, it was to be expected the moment they said they were running out of space, but it's great to hear an actual number since that has been a question a lot of people had. If that time is true. I remember FFXV being greatly overestimated in that regard.
  3. While KH does not belong to Sony in any way, it doesn't mean there couldn't be contracts involved which would prohibit a release on specific platforms or any other at all. Now, we don't know if there ever was anything remotely similar going on or if it ever went in that direction, but I highly doubt it. It's still a general possibility since companies make exclusive contracts with other companies without any of them being the owner of the other party. I guess it so etimes just makes sense from a marketing standpoint. However, there's no real explanation or good argument as to why it shouldn't be on Xbox. This topic has been around time and time again and whenever you ask someone who's adamant about refusing its release on that console in particular, you never really get a good answer. In the end it is probably just a petty rivalry, what is usually labeled as console wars as you already mentioned, and not anything concrete. It would be a different matter if the Xbox One couldn't handle the game, the controls wouldn't work on the native controller due to a very different layout or if other issues, such as an extremely prolonged development, would prevent a release but this isn't the case. The simple answer is most likely that some people are very invested in something that makes no difference whatsoever to the game. There are many things I don't get but this is among the issues that aren't worth getting upset about. Personally, I don't mind that it comes to Xbox. As long as there's no risk of SE going bankrupt for porting it (which it won't), shouldn't it be regarded as a good thing that more people will get to play it? I hope that the rest also gets released at some point because I'm more worried about the game not selling well because others may be reluctant to pick up a game that's the last installment of the saga and want to experience for themselves without having to buy abother console or watch videos. But apart from that, what should it matter to me as long as every console owner is treated the same? The game wasn't delayed, there's no relevant exclusive content announced which would require me to buy two versions and it won't deminish my experience at all. No one cares if other games come out on different consoles but suddenly some PS4 owners want to feel special they have a title no one else has? That somehow misses the point of gaming in my opinion. And that's to enjoy the game and not claim others aren't allowed to do the same because of a different system... It makes zero sense, really. The only ones it matters to would be Disney/SE and Sony since it might affect sales here and there, but it doesn't really affect the player. Except for that one Keyblade pre-order bonus where you get an Xbox themed one but that's no reason to get angry. As I said before, it would be a whole different matter if it would affect anyone negatively, like Xbox owners getting content PS4 owners won't get, but there's no notion of anything in that regard happening. Then again, a lot of people lose their head over every tiny little thing nowadays anyway, despite not having a negative impact on them or a majority of other people.
  4. Didn't he just say that BH6 will likely be the next to be showcased? I don't think I ever heard of the next trailer appearing at the next convention it's going to be at or it wouldn't have been SDCC to begin with. Another factor is that even if that was true, it depends on what you call an appearance. Offering the demo to be played but not doing much else can't be called an appearance to me since I'm always thinking of something similar as to standing on a stage with someone presenting the game/announcing something. That's how most appearances of KH3 were, except for SE Presents for example which was a stream but it was nonetheless a presentation aimed at givong an update. Even the ones which weren't disclosed to the public had some sort of formal presentation. Another thing is, while thematically still appropriate, SDCC or any other convention before like Anime Expo/Japan Expo aren't gaming events or closely related to the publisher/developer. They surely could have presented something if they wanted to, but most trailers dropped at gaming conventions, D23, which belongs to Disney and therefore makes sense, or at the Orchestra, which is closely tied to the franchise. I think we've been given a lot of new trailers last month. I don't see a reason to provide a new one every month just because the game has a release date now. Hardly any game gets that much exposition and they can't spoil everything. We're still 6 months away from release. That's plenty of time to give us more information at events which are more relegant to the gaming industry. Nothing against SDCC, it certainly would have fit to have BH6 appear there, but it's still an event mostly targeted at comics and their adaptions. Games certainly have become a bigger part of conventions revolving around comics, anime/manga and Japan as a whole, but their presence is just one among many different aspects of pop culture. In this case, I don't think any promises were made. Having a demo appear along with some opportunities for taking photos is not exactly uncommon and sometimes even done at the smallest events.
  5. lot of new voice actors, even for those who already had one, because they may not be available or suitable anymore. I think as long as there are subtitles, it's not that tragic. Yes, many games get a lot of dubs nowadays but not all of them are any good or have that many characters to cover. (Apart from NPCs getting two or three sentences.) Also, the budget may not allow for at least four more languages to be covered.
  6. I think it's okay to request it/make a petition and also to be disappointed that it likely won't happen but there's no need to be whiny or salty, especially because this is not the first Kingdom Hearts with no European dub. I grew up with the German one and I can understand why people would want it, but I've gotten too used to the English one to abandon that now. Not to mention that there's no guarantee the dub would have been any good now. They would have to cast a l...
  7. And I do think it has the chance to. I also think it will at least be among the better ranked games, depending on whether it will manage to be what fans waited for. Expectations are not always a good thing, even though I love the hype surrounding the game.
  8. I hope so too! I think KH3 already received a lot of recognition this year, despite probably never really losing some sort of prejudice from the people. I introduced my friend to the franchise about 2 years ago, and she admitted she also did not think she would come to love it so much. Even newcomers have a chance of enjoying it, tdespite recommending playing the other games first. I really hope it will live up to its expectations.
  9. trust these awards as a seal of approval that this is most definitely the best game of the year.) Which is not to say they were bad, but it's where this subjectiveness comes in. Since I value a good story, both of these games were rather bland in that regard. Either way, you are right with your comment, I just think everyone should decide on their own and not overrate these awards. I feel like nothing positive comes out of it, except for the winning game.
  10. You're right and I'm not saying that KH3 doesn't have the potential to be up there as well, I just wouldn't bet on it because there are also other big games coming out which seem to be less niche. As popular as it has become, it still can't compare to other games in terms of how many people play them. Which is why I somehow doubt it will become GOTY. (And to be honest, both BOTW and Overwatch lost to plenty other games in their years in my opinion. Which is why I don't...
  11. I don't really likethese awards too much because the games which are usually considered can mostly not be compared to each other. Different genres, different focus and the criteria are really subjective too. I dunno, being GOTY doesn't really mean anything if you look at it. And we haven't even played any game for that year yet.
  12. I think it depends on what you enjoy about games. You can still have a blast with KH3 if the gameplay is good and you just want to slash all manner of creatures throughout the Disney universe. That being said, I do think KH3 is not the best place to start if a player cares about story. Nomura already said it. While they will try to somehow include a recap to at least provide an overview, KH3 is a game for the fans and I also think it should not be the job of the 11th game (if we count UX as a separate entry from BC) to introduce newcomers to the series, otherwise it will become boring for those who already know their way around the series. Yes, it is time-consuming and of course it's not grsat that Xbox users are left out for now, but as some people said, there's still Youtube and Co.. If people can't be bothered to watch that, I certainly don't mind either but it's really no argument that there weren't enough opportunities or enough time. Back then when everything was still kinda new with that and it was distributed over all manner of consoles, okay, but nowadays? Don't get me wrong, I'm not forcing anyone to play it if they don't want to but saying they couldn't inform themselves prior to purchasing it is barely an excuse anymore. Nonetheless, the only thing I will absolutely not support is when people complain about not getting the story and calling it terrible because they haven't played the other games or at least watched a summary/walkthrough/Let's Play/etc. We don't know if the story will be good or bad but a bad review with an argument based on the inability of people to invest some time is not understandable. I am all for newcomers starting with KH3 if they so please. But there are just some things they cannot rate or judge if they do. They could argue how much effort the game puts into getting them up to date, but is that really what matters in the final chapter of the Xehanort saga? I personally don't want to waste time with too many flashbacks for example. I've said it coubtless times before, but people can't complain about not understanding the 11th volume of a book without reading the other ones. In fact, I doubt a lot of people would pick it up. That being said, it's up to the gamers what they want to do and I won't judge anyone for playing without having played the other games. If they enjoy it, that's fine. It's just ridiculous to complain about story aspects then unless they are contradicting themselves for example or are incoherent. But I wouldn't get angry over it either since it's more embarrassing for them than it matters for me. At least I would be embarrassed to be caught talking about something I have absolutely no clue about. In the end, it's up to the individual to decide on shat they want to play. I feel like the 3 may already intimidate players if they know it's a story that's connected (nowadays, not all games are after all), but on a positive note, it might make them pick up the other games if the premise is promising. I know there's been this debate on Twitter but I honestly don't care if some person thinks their limited understanding of the story allows them to really be credible. In the end, people will either care about a game enough to at least try and get the gist of it or they're just mildly interested anyway. There are people who simply don't get too invested in a single game. It's questionable if KH3 is the best option then but they're old enough to decide what they want to spend their money on and old enough to use the internet.
  13. I chose none, mainly because a lot of movies based on video games were mediocre at best. This doesn't mean that there can't be good adaptations, I just think it's often difficult, even with story-driven games since games are so much more than just a story. There are so many minor things which cannot be captured in a movie taking 1-2 hours. Be it small conversations, interesting side quests or such, I believe it's great to have them on their own. However, movies can be a good thing if they are not aiming to retell the story of the game but expand upon it. For me, it often works better than just trying to copy a game because it provides something new. At the same time, people who haven't played the game will likely miss the context. If you look at Advent Children for example, the whole thing just makes a lot more sense after playing the associated games. Therefore it might not be as interesting for developers because the target audience may be smaller. I personally think adaptations work best for horror games if they put some effort into it. A lot of horror games tell their story through in-game journals and the like which I find annoying since they drag you out of the tension. But in a movie, they could implement them more effectively. Not to mention that they are fairly short most of the time. The main issue I would have with movies trying to retell a game is that games often have a lot more tthan just 1 1/2 hours worth of content to them. Or barely any at all. Either way, I'm fine without a movie for anything. It often feels like an obligation to watch them rather than an actual desire and while I cannot deny that I'd like to see more of the games I liked (for example most recently God of War), I also think movies often fail to meet expectations when a lot of different people are involved without consulting with the original developers. I tend to be skeptical overall, be it because of clashing styles, strange story-telling or just a pitiful attempt at a cheap cash-grab due to a popular name. I'm not trying to generalize or say every movie based on a game is absolutely bad but I have often seen examples which just failed to capture the atmosphere. Pokemon is one of the exceptions for me because the games have almost no story to begin with. The characters are often bland and this way, a movie won't really destroy anything since they're just loosely based on the games. However, the Pokemon Special manga does a splendid job adding more to it.
  14. I had this happen before and they couldn't really find a cause. It took them 4 weeks to refund me, though the most annoying part was that they offered I could also get the 1700 jewels, despite technically buying 3000. So if you decide to contact them, just go for a direct refund and just purchase them on your own again because otherwise, you may be missing out on the VIP stuff this week. Sometimes they're fast, but not always. I'd wait a moment before trying again, perhaps closing the application and starting it again. If that doesn't work, I'd try downloading the newest update again.
  15. Couldn't agree more... I don't know if Disney had a say in this, but while it is their property, the main characters should be the focus. Or the box art or whatever. If I wanted a Disney poster of my favorite movie, I would buy one. I'm not saying the idea of a cloth poster is bad or that some people aren't playing this just for the Disney aspect, but I assume a lot more people also play ot because of Sora & Co. and it's a bit of a shame when side characters get much more focus than the actual main characters. Though a simple design on black wouldn't be something I'd want either. I remember this rather... unique design for 2.8 before it had a box art which even received a wall scroll instead of the actual cover and I found that one really bad... Mainly because it felt like little effort was put into this. Personally, I prefer your idea of using the box art since that will likely follow the scheme of 1.5, 2.5 and 2.8 if what Nomura said is correct. I think we can assume it will also be drawn by him and while that's no guarantee it'll be good, I'm fairly certain it will be better than those 3. I also love the box arts a lot (except for Xehanort on the 2.5 one. He looks rather strange.) Either way, I won't vote since those will likely not come to my country and I feel it would be a little unfair to participate in something that doesn't affect me.
  16. be 100% satisfied and that's fine... I always see it like this that there are always levels we don't like, probably in just about any game. I think most people realize that and won't be disrespectful. There's nothing wrong with voicing their dislike but most have been accepting.
  17. That would be childish and immensely disrespectful. I'm not fond of Pirates of the Caribbean as a world, never have been, but it's not obligatory to enjoy every single aspect, if not downright impossible. I would have preferred many other movies over some the chosen ones but the game can still be great. While I enjoy the Disney aspect, what kept me hooked was the original story. There's no need to harrass a person just because it's not going someone's way. Not everyone can...
  18. I can't believe that my friends and I may be attending Japan Expo next year. That would be our first convention in another country.
  19. I actually liked the original one more than the others, mainly because it felt like there was a little more involved than endless battles with moves you can't follow and another super powerful enemy against a hero with a new form which looks a tiny bit different. Z had its good parts, no denying that, but the original just contained a little more than just fighting uninteresting battles.
  20. I've never heard an opinion stating otherwise though so how is it unpopular? Nevertheless, I don't think it's impossible for them to appear. Vanitas does not necessarily need to be present to send them there and I think it would make sense to have all enemy types, except perhaps Nightmares, in nearly every world to some degree.
  21. Welcome then! Your name is amazing by the way. It sounds really cool. I'm sure you'll find a lot of similar people here. While the story does have a lot of unanswered questions, I do believe most of it is fairly easy to understand, except for the usual problems regarding time-travel perhaps. It's nice to see when people pay attention and actually put in some effort. ^-^
  22. I'm not expecting anything but that is indeed a huge banner for a demo. There's not really evidence anything will be shown. BH6 certainly fits the theme of a comic con but I'm not gonna get my hopes up since E3 was just a month ago. That doesn't have to say anything if we consider last year, but I'll just wait and see.
  23. Which is not necessarily a bad thing but I just meant that they certainly would have had the time and space to add them in my opinion. If they aren't already part of the roster, that is.
  24. Perhaps they're back as some sort of skin you can choose from? Or as those new shadow characters. (Though I guess that would rather be Dark Link, but who knows.) I think it would be nice to choose since the difference really isn't that great. I don't think it would reauire much work either since they're doing a lot of copy and pasting with this one instead of including too many new characters and features.
  25. I get where you're coming from and it does make sense, though for Nintendo and a lot of other people, they probably think of newcomers as entieely new characters. Of course you could argue that every Link is a different Link and therefore a new character but I guess a lot of people would still not accept it, although there's some logic behind it.
