    you can press the down pad button to have an overview of the map out in the ocean and you climb on top of Ymir on the grey slate and say "Control Ymir" or go up to the tree on top of its head and say "Control Ymir" there are two places where you can control him when you are on top of him.

    also be aware there are monsters out in the ocean that you will have to fight every once in a while in order to raise an island
