  3. Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory has been officially announced for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch for 2020, and its official website has been released! This a rhythm game with over 140 tracks available. Play with 1-2 players will be possible, there will be an online mode, and there will be four different play styles. Thanks go out to @aitaikimochi, who has translated these details from the official website: They have also added English subtitles to the "secret" part of the Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory trailer, featuring Kairi. Are you excited for this unexpected rhythm title making its way to all consoles?
  4. Really can't wait for the Switch Pro that's just a TV.
  5. I felt the need to put a thread here, since there's a TON of misinformation a lot of fans seem to think is fact, even though there's no actual proof for most of it. Now, my proof for everything comes from 2 articles from IGN from E3 this year & D23 last year where they interviewed Tetsuya Nomura himself on the matter of porting the games to Xbox One & Switch. I will cite my sources at the end of this text wall. Ok, now for the arguments & the counter-arguments. 1. "Xbox doesn't sell well in Japan." True, but if they didn't see any use in porting it to the system, then they wouldn't be porting III to it. 2. "They've never ported games to the system." This one confuses the hell outta me. Thanks to ITzDarthLordRaven for making me aware that this was even a think. Ok, first of all, Square has ported games to the Xbox before. The Final Fantasy series has had games on that system since FFXI, with the XIII series following & XV coming out just 2 years ago on it. There are also other games they've published to the system. They're also porting III to the system. They're well-versed in how to develop for the system. 3. "They don't pay attention to the KH community or anyone who want it on the Xbox." This is insanity on the face of it for one reason. Square has been listening to fans for the last few years. If they didn't, they wouldn't have made Re:Coded's cutscene movie on 2.5 better than 358/2 with the storytelling, they wouldn't have ported 1.5 & 2.5 to PS4 & subsequently patched most of the problems the 60fps patch caused afterwards, & they wouldn't be listening to the KH YouTubers' thoughts on the initial demo to improve the game. They listen, give them some credit here. 4. "They're waiting to see how III does in terms of sales numbers." This might be true, but there's a sizable number of people that are going to get the game on Xbox. Either people who're just trying the series for the first time, or are returning to the series after having played the original PS2 releases of the first 2 main games that now game on Xbox. 5. "It'd cost them a lot of money to do it." No it wouldn't. The games are already upscaled to 1080p & are put at 60fps. All they have to do is have a small group of programmers change some lines of code & optimize it for the Xbox One, which would only cost them for their time to pay them. Porting the games have already paid off on the PS4 versions alone. Around 25 million copies of 1.5, 2.5, & 2.8 don't lie. 6. "PlayStation has an exclusivity contract." No. No they don't. I've also read a person saying they heard Sony holds the distribution rights to the games. No they don't. The series is owned by DISNEY, one of Sony's direct competitors. Square is the main developer of the series. Since Disney isn't a video game/console company (yet), nor do they own any game companies (yet), this is their setup. Sony has only let them publish the games to their consoles. Nothing more, nothing less. For reference, Nomura has explicitly stated that it's possible to bring them to the Xbox. They're just waiting for III to be done with development first, as well as talk to Microsoft. So, it's only a matter of time, coupled with the Final Fantasy ports coming to Xbox, Switch, PC, & PS4. 6. I actually think a port for The Story So Far would be absolutely amazing, even at 30fps. That's KH on the go.
  7. I personally think it needs a better battery life. The battery life sucks.
  8. Well, time to prepare and survive the pixelstorm of this fall

  10. During their quarterly briefing on November 8, 2017, Square Enix revealed some interesting information regarding games releasing the next fiscal year* and those being planned for the Nintendo Switch. Square Enix stated that they have kept their fiscal year forecast unchanged as there are "no big games planned" for release between now and March 2017. The global titles Square Enix plan to release next fiscal year are being prepared to showcase at E3 2018, and have been described as "sharp," "powerful," and "well made." On the Nintendo Switch, Square Enix commented that its core architecture is similar to that of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One; therefore, while some adjustments would be necessary, there is definitely a possibility of developing games for all three platforms. Square Enix also stated that the Switch's momentum is very strong, and unique compared to the positions of PS4 and Xbox One, and that Nintento have done well for the company. They asserted that they are good at making middle-ranged games, and that the Switch is an ideal platform for such games. Lastly, Square Enix will not rule out any IPs when "agressively" making games for the Switch; this means the Switch could see not only new Square Enix games, but also currently active and non-active ones. These games may possibly be made multi-platform. *This refers to April 1, 2018 to March 31, 2019. Kingdom Hearts III is one of Square Enix's international titles releasing next year on the PS4 and Xbox One. Are you expecting to see more of the game at E3 2018, and if so, what kind of showcase and announcements are you looking forward to? Let us know in the comments below! UPDATE [Nov 20, 2017]: Square Enix has released the outline from the recent FY2018 Q2 Results Briefing Session back on November 8th. The outline details the presentation giving at the press session from Square Enix President Yosuke Matsuda and Chief Financial Officer Kazuharu Watanabe. Their presentation gave more detail into the income from the previous quarter and an update on Digital Entertainment [games, manga, etc.] and predictions for Quarter 3 and beyond. After the main presentation, several questions were asked about how profit from digital sales could improve game development, the possibility of bring titles to the Nintendo Switch, and new ideas for AI. 12. I've owned everything past the Gamecube-Gameboy era myself! Well I still need to get a Switch, but it certainly seems like a promising system. 3DS master race though
  13. Someone was lucky enough to get a Nintendo Switch console super early before launch and was able to amke an unboxing video and show off the UI. Here's footage of the Nintendo Switch's UI:

  15. These past few weeks, I've been seeing quite a few comments from numerous people about how KHIII won't possibly come to the Switch, or people treating requests for it as more of a joke than anything else. What I think needs to be pointed out is that it's a really big assumption to jump to. It's been stated that the Switch is capable of running games made in Unreal Engine 4: the same engine Kingdom Hearts III is coming to. While we don't know the specs and how the system compares to the PS4/Xbox One, it's been shown that the engine used for KHIII can be used on the Switch, so we can conclude that there won't be any significant hardware issues in that regard. As for making a third version of it, Nvidia, the company behind the hardware in the Switch, have already said that porting games over to the Switch is really easy; much easier than on the Wii U, in fact. If it's cheap and easy to port KHIII to the Switch, why shouldn't Square do that? That's probably the reason that it's coming to the Xbox One, after all. Porting a game from the PS4 over to the Xbox One is a simple process, and judging from what we've heard about the Switch, it wouldn't take much effort to port KHIII to the Switch too. And this leads to the "Kingdom Hearts I, II, and the HD Remixes were all PlayStation exclusive, so they would never come to the Switch." Again, KHIII is coming to the Xbox One, a system that isn't profitable at all in Japan and isn't known for its selection of JRPGs. Nintendo systems have had a number of Kingdom Hearts games in the past, so why should the Switch be skipped? An easy port to a new system is a fantastic way to expand the audience and get more money, which in the end, is what a developer would aim for. There really isn't any reason for Kingdom Hearts III to just skip the Switch if the porting process is as simple as Nvidia has claimed or if the Switch can run UE4. Long story short, there's no reason to bring people down for suggesting that KHIII could come to the Switch. It's not some thing that would be a miracle if it happened, nor is it something that wouldn't make sense. Square's been expanding their audience and bringing games that were once exclusive to one system to many new formats, and bringing the big releases from the Square side of the company to Nintendo's home consoles would be a fantastic way to do so. I know people will complain about KHIII being on the Switch for the same reason it's coming to the Xbox One: some people throw a fit just because a series stops being exclusive. But it isn't a bad thing for a third party to branch out and expand their audience, it means they get more money and can put that towards making their upcoming games even bigger and better. The fact that Square is bringing their games to the Xbox, PC, and potentially Switch should be celebrated, not treated as a great loss. And as a final note, I've always planned to get the game on PS4 and still intend to do so. I'm not just saying this all because I'm desperate for a Switch port. And in case anyone asks for these, here are some sources to the points I made above: UE4 on the Switch: http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2016/10/unreal_engine_4_will_be_supported_on_nintendo_switch Switch being easy to port to: http://www.cinemablend.com/games/1586130/why-porting-games-to-the-nintendo-switch-should-be-easy-according-to-nvidia
  16. People are probably gonna hate me for this but i'm just don't really care about the Switch at the moment, i'm mean sure it looks good and the thing with it being both a handheld and a stationary console is cool but i just can't get hyped for it. First of the all i'm probably one of the few that don't like the Wii, it had some great games but the motion controlls ruined most of the games for me, if i played with a pro contorller it was fine but without i just couldn't enjoy it, and then we have the Wii U which was such a HUGE dissapointment in my opnion, it had very few games that made it worth buying the console (Splatoon and Super Smash Bros are the olny once i really care about and one of those games i can just play on my 3DS) at least for me, it had VERY bad third party support and like with the Wii the controller just ruined it for me, it's so clunky and big that it just wasn't comfortable to use in my opinion and the console itself was WAY to expensive for the hardware it offered compared to the Xbone and PS4. and now we get to the Switch and after 2 dissapointments i just can't hyped for the Switch, before i even think about buying one i need to know the price and the hardware because if it's going to cost as much as PS4/Xbone did at launch and only be equally or a bit above the PS4/Xbone specs i'm just not going to buy it at launch because it's not worth it, but you might say "Hey it's not that specs that matter it's games" While i agree with you none of the games shown are interesting to me, i'm mean Zelda looks pretty firetrucking awesome but one games just isn't enough to get me hyped. This is why i can't be excited for the Switch, it looks cool but just isn't enough information about it for me to care. Am i the only one who thinks this? P.S WHY ARE PEOPLE EXCITED FOR SKYRIM!!! when they showed Skyrim the only thing i could think was "Oh so you now have good enough hardware to run a 5 YEAR OLD GAME" also don't just say it's special edition because the special edition is just the same with very very little improvments (on PC there isn't even any improvements except it runs a bit better)
