All Tetsuya said was after 2.8, I wouldn't expect anything the day that 2.8 comes out or the week it comes out. This will just lead to another ridiculous D23 disaster. Seeing what happened with 1.5 and 2.5 last weekend, I wouldn't put it past some in this community to be waiting the night of January 12th or 24th for a KH3 trailer that was never even promised... The magic event in February is probably your best bet since Tetsuya Nomura is attending that.

I think he intended to have it show at Jump Festa but then the delay pushed it back, so he decided to show up at that Monaco event! I'd be very surprised if it did get a trailer in the week of 2.8 but I doubt it'll happen. February or March seems more likely!

Yeah but don't get your hopes up...Especially with the FF 30th anniversary Ceremony coming this january...I think Square's going to focus on that more than KH.

The first 30th anniversary ceremony is on the 31st of January so that makes me doubt any KH3 in that first week of 2.8's US release.

Eh, it would be pretty fresh after 2.8's release. Really we'd be lucky if anything was revealed after the 24th, but February is most likely going to be our earliest bet. That's not to say that they won't say any small little tidbits in January though. Like not a trailer or world reveal or anything huge like that that over 50% of you automatically expect to see when the words "KH3 news" are brought up, but very small little things or statements, like "We are about X% complete with making the game", or "We are even more heavily considering some form of multiplayer", or "We will have our next big news event at so-and-so convention/expo/celebration/birthday party/ice cream social/bring your daughter to work day, so please be patient and wait until then", or "Sorry, nothing new today. Here, have a drawing from Nomura!". At this point, anything that they can say about KH3 is news to me, I'm not expecting a trailer every 5 minutes of my life or anything, those things take time to make damnit, and they usually need something worthy to work with for that, so that comes first, not to mention potentially gathering voice actors together. So you can probably expect something small in terms of news in January, I wouldn't start anticipating anything bigger until February kicks off. And besides, my birthday is in February, so I wouldn't mind waiting for any amount of KH3/anniversary news as a present. X3

I see where you're coming from and you're proving a legitimate point. Kingdom Hearts 2.8 needs to be released first before any focus is provided to Kingdom Hearts III. Unless Kingdom Hearts III has a new trailer in conjunction with the Nintendo Switch reveal, I don't see any Kingdom Hearts III news happening in January.

Would it really be wise to drop a trailer for KH3 the week or the day that 2.8 comes out? No, that'd be a bad marketing decision. The magic event and the day of KH1's anniversary are probably better. Otherwise E3.

Yeah, January is kind of a poor month to release KH3 news. I'm placing my bets on February and beyond.

News may release in January, it may release in February, it may release in March.

I haven't been expecting stuff for a while know.

Whatever happens, happens. Whenever it decides to I guess.

You see, many of us Star Wars fans are awaiting an Episode VIII trailer to be dropped into the Internet, but Kathleen Kennedy, one of the big honchos at Lucasfilm said that they wanted to give Rogue One time in the sun before revealing anything about Episode VIII, and that fans should expect something by Spring!

 

I think the same principle will apply to 2.8! After the game releases, Nomura will probably let the game have some breathing room so fans can digest all the goodness of the game, and after everyone's done and over with it, by February or even March, Nomura will probably start his bombardment of Kingdom Hearts III news, ya know?

Well, whenever we get a new trailer, I hope it shows Drive Forms in action.

Yeah, I do hope we get some news on KH3 sometime in 2017, but I really don't think it'll be in January.  I know some people think that we'll get news this winter, but everyone seems to forget that February is a winter month, not just December and January.  Heck, if you want to get technical, March is also a winter month.  So yeah, if we do get any news this winter, I'm betting it'll be in February, but I'm still not holding my breath on it being that early.

I don't really see how, but okay.

If you remember, there was a Kingdom Hearts 3 trailer shown at KH2.5's launch event. Sure, it was only shown to select audiences, but it was news nonetheless.
