I think maybe it’s because people see him as “too perfect”. The Mickey Mouse Disney likes to market is the goody two shoes Saint of person who would give you the shirt of his back without hesitating. Not very easy to relate to.

As opposed to Walt’s vision of him: mischievous, a bit careless, sometimes impulsive, but ultimately a good person at heart.
