In fairness to Nintendo, I don't think there's much they can add without creating a new game. At least, not much of substance.

Also at least i still occasionally play acnh, just this halloween i had a lotta fun trolling my neighbors while listening to terraria calamity ost

Like, I guess they can keep adding new recipes and items but players were already starting to get bored of the core gameplay. That's why the dlc was created.
