By his reaction, I am almost entirely sure that he sees her as someone he already knows, not as Xion. Or is he just surprised that she resembles Kairi?

Also an unrelated question... what's the deal with the blindfold? I never understood it. He goes into his Ansem form when he's not wearing it, right? Why is he able to lift one side of it in this scene without changing?

xion took on the form of sora and thats why rilku was shocked, and about hes blind fold idk thats just the way it is

When Riku unhooded Xion, he definitely saw her as Sora, but later in the game such as when he saves her and is giving her extra time, he sees her the same way Roxas does (black haired kairi)

He wore the blindfold to hide the fact that his heart was losing to the darkness. His Ansem form was a bit like an outfit he would put on, or transform into, and so either the blindfold was already covering his eyes or because that wasn't his true body XH's eyes were covering them. And of course in the image above it turns out that he wasn't losing to XH at that time, and this would have been the perfect opportunity to show this but they didn't.

tutti frutti. To answer the question regarding the blindfold, I believe it was in reference to Riku still battling/controlling the darkness inside of him. If I remember right it wasn't until after Ansem the Wise's laser device (don't know what its called) exploded, and Riku removed the blindfold for good. As for Xion's appearance, I coulnd't really tell ya there for certain. I'm pretty sure that he saw a black haired Kairi, since Xion is pretty much a spitting image of Kairi. But only Nomura can answer that question.

Riku saw Sora when he took off Xion's hood I believe. And as for the blind fold,I believe that he wore that to tame the darkness within him.

Because it would be weird to mention someone he doesn't even know about? Roxas sure acted this way when he learned of Sora.

riku saw sora when he saw xion because he has a connection to soras life (as a close friend) and Xigbar saw ventus because he had a connection to vens life (he was one of vens enemies)

He definitely saw her as Sora for the first part. But I'm guessing later on in the Destiny Islands scene that he began to see her the way Roxas did.

As for the blindfold, it was to help him conceal his darkness or something.

He saw her as someone who needs to go back to where she belongs.

Well, by his look when he saw Xion's face, he probably saw Sora... And if he had saw Ventus', he wouldn't say: "Your face... Who are you really?", because this frase makes us think that he DOES KNOW whose face was that he saw and he doesn't know who Ven is.

 

And about the blindfold, it's pretty much what Mickey said in KH II: "He's eyes could lie". Or he was hiding the fact that he was losing his heart to darkness and when you fall in darkness, your eye's "colour" changes.

1) He probably saw Kairi. I don't think it says anywhere that he saw Sora.

 

2) He wore a blindfold to try to trick himself, because he ashamed of all the bad things he had been doing. He was trying to hide himself from his own shame.

 

3) You eyes don't turn color because of darkness. They turn golden because of the influence of Xehanort. Which is why only Xehanort, Vanitas, Braig and Saix have golden eyes.

For me he saw Xion as Xion, mainly because he fought his own replica, Repliku, so he could see her real form.
