I can't say I agree, mostly because Xion's whole plot seems very forced. (Though the Disney worlds' treatment and most certainly the gameplay don't endear me either.) She isn't outright unlikeable, bu

I loved Days and its tied with BBS to be my second favorite in the series..My first favorite being KH2..I loved the storyline and i actually enjoyed the missions. The joke weapons were funny as firetruck and i loved how emotional it was .

this, is intelligent and accurate.

i feel the same, kh2 is the best, followed by these two, then kh1.

but anyway, i like the story, i really felt the bond between xion, roxas and axel, and just felt bad for roxas in the end. and axel of course. really emotional, just like bbs.

First, I want to ask if I am the only one who didn't find the missions repetitive? I was able to play for hours without getting bored. Meh, I also liked the panel system and thought the gameplay was fine, so I guess I am just a rarity.

More on topic, I too found Days to have a great story. This sums up my feelings pretty well.

I cared much more for Roxas, Xion, and Axel than I ever did for Sora and friends. Due to Days being the first game I played in the series, I felt that I could connect more with the characters as I was just as clueless and lost as them. Watching their friendship grow, and learning about them as they learned about themselves. Their friendship going through event after event, with both Roxas and Xion being used as tools, and Axel trying and failing to keep them all together. All of it coming together in a tragic conclusion. At the end, I too wished to destroy Riku and the Organization, I wanted to feel the satisfaction of ending them for making Roxas's life miserable even though all he wanted was to be with his friends and eat ice cream with them every day.

This this this a million times.

Same happened to me. I was as clueless as them and that's what made me connect so much with them.

And that's why every fan cried when Xion died, right? She must have been so unlikeable. ;)

Every fan? You sure you wanna say that? xD

Okay, okay. MOST fans.

Yeah, since the stories were really short, the characters went really undeveloped. And as much as I like Ventus, he was based off Roxas for fan-service, wasn't he? KH1 was great, but it didn't touch you like Days. And COM sucked. :/

I guess my opinion is just really different but I thought KH1 was really touching because of the trouble trying to find your friends, the lessons Sora learned, the goodbye to Riku, and the promise to return to Kairi.

I also didn't think COM sucked that much. I felt more sympathetic towards Namine than I did Sora. The only thing I'd say sucked was how tough the battle system was.

Yeah, but Xion died, and no matter what people say, I loved Xion as a character. I felt sorry for Axel, and Roxas is still my favorite character because of Days.

it was not my favorite, but the story was the most touching.

Hm, it's when I read how Days was their, "First KH game" or how it "introduced" them to the series that really makes me think the whole nostalgia thing plays a big role. By being introduced to Roxas and the Org.XIII, of course you're going to feel more strongly toward them and probably want to not care to much about the actual main characters in the series. The way Days played and the way the story flowed could've been alot better; and I've noticed for several years now how the ones praising this game are the ones who had this game start them off to the series. I find that interesting. *curious* owO

I did like Days because we got a feel how Roxas was before he was in twilight town and his reasons for leaving the organization. Xion wasn't my favorite but she was ok, and I can't say that I cried when she died cause she did frustrate me when she kept running away and axel, Roxas, or someone always had to bring her back. Other than that I really liked days, the story was good, the missions gave a way for us to see how the organization was structured more and how Roxas' life in the organization was.

I cried more when Goofy 'died'

I hated Xion's guts i was happy she was gone

But isn't Xion basically the same as Kairi and Namine?

Okay. But why do people hate Xion a lot. She was developed more in one game and made me like her more than Kairi in the whole series.

Possible, quite possible. However, the same could probably be said about most people. Oh, and Days is technically the second KH game I played (after seeing commercials for Days I rented KHII to see if I would like the series), but Days was the first of them I bought and beat. For that reason I count Days as my first KH game, and I would say I definitely hold more nostalgia for it than KHII.

No, she was better than both of them. :/

i dont hate xion but i can tell you some criticisms i have for her . I dont get why she doesnt go to her best friends and tell them in detail whats going on and figure out together what to do like best friends do.Instead she runs away from them and is rude and distant. I honestly dont get that about her

Of course, Xion had to be in order for her whole existance to make sense. Before, heck, even after KH2 she was never mentioned, ever thought of until that one writer wanting a black haired female character in the series. If she hadn't had her 'tragic' storyline layed out, everyone who had been playing the games up to that point would've been pissed, "Where the hell did she come from!? Since when was there 14 members!?!?! FAW$EF#W@". Making it extra sad just made it ok to suddenly appear, and was forgiven by the....some fans. e.o

At least that's how I see it. > >

That's when you're wrong

Kairi is a princess, which is a necessary plot point because of KHI

as well because of what happened in KHI, Namine was created.

Namine is her Nobody as well as witch who manipulated Sora's memories which was another big plot point in COM because without her, Marluxia's plans wouldn't have gone as far as they did.

And ultimately, Namine did bring Sora back, saved him in a way.

Imo, they're a lot more important than Xion.

Xion isn't even Kairi's Nobody or anything, she's Sora's clone.

well, actually Xion had the power to save or kill Organization 13.

It sort of has to do with the focus and context of this particular story. Roxas, Xion, and Axel were sort of removed from the events of the rest of the game, not having to worry about the fate of the worlds, etc, and really even lacked a single focused enemy until the end, and so the script could afford to be more of a little, well-developed, heart-wrenching story rather than just a videogame. Plotline could be focused on because so little really happened gameplay-wise, and even storywise towards the overall plotline of kingdom hearts other than introducing yet another character connected to Sora. Yes, I loved Days very much, but it's sometimes almost as if it doesn't exist within the realm of all of the other events that go on.

And yes, it was one of the most touching. CoM is the second, and BBS would be the third. I agree with you that BBS was lacking in plot/ character development, although in context you can easily see why that ended up happening. Days was nothing but the removed, sad storyline though.

In her defense, she sort of doesn't know how to be friends with people, and she seems to not be made of the "Happy-go-luck-say-whatever-I'm-thinking" part of Sora that Roxas is. Also, she is ashamed of being just a puppet, and can't really bring herself to tell Roxas, who probably wouldn't really understand anyway. I sense some emoness/depression there lol. People don't always do the smartest thing.

She went to others though who werent even her friends for advice over her best friends that she 'loved'..That just irritated me about her ..

True, true. Although complete strangers can sometimes give the best advice (OmG TwItTeR), especially when you don't want to involve your friends.

If she had spoken with them...things might have been different.

Yes this is true

People cried when Xion died because they were cheaply manipulated into doing so.

She's not an unlikable character, she's barely a character at all.

I personally thought days had a very good storyline. Yes, there were a couple of hiccups, but I don't think they were severe as other entries. What I liked about Days was that we actually saw the trio form unlike the other ones, and actually show that they all care for each other (True, Xion preferred Roxas and Axel preferred Roxas as well, but they still considered each other friends). As for the repetitive missions, fighting heartless and doing recons and so on everyday is basically Roxas's JOB. And I don't know about you, but there aren't a lot of jobs where SUPER CRAZY FUN STUFF happens every day. It's just more apparent because Days has a longer timeline compared to other entries.

The other games had a good story line as well, but I didn't really think they were all that great.

EX: Practically everything in BBS could have been avoided if TAV just sat down explained to each other what was going on and actually working together, or even better if Eraqus told them NOT TO TRUST XEHANORT, but I digress.

By the way, there's this awesome post on KHI that basically explains why Days had an excellent Narrative. It's really lengthy, but it has very good points. Days Defense.doc
