In response to the Christian thread. I have nothing against you guys, but I figure it might be a good idea to have the other end of the spectrum so you guys don't get flamed. Speaking of which, if you are religious please don't flame this thread and those of you who are on this thread please don't flame the other one.

Ive noticed

 

Youve added "nontraditional beliefs" so now I can join in. I'm a Buddhist who seeks awakening through Norse mythology. I believe there is some higher power, and Im going to find it and make it mine.

If there's proof that Dinosaurs existed, then I want proof of whether Kami-sama is real or not.

Hmm I say that I am Christian but not a really Christian, I don't believe in half of stuff in the bible.

I believe the bible is just a guide for people looking for answers to what life is about and gives people purpose to keep believing.

Same as for religion itself. There people who need something believe in otherwise they would be lost and may go crazy.

I also believe in evolution.

You would probably be considered agnostic as the key to being agnositc is uncertainty.

I'm agnostic. I use to consider myself a Christian, but that's only because i was raised by my dogmatic mother and grandmother. But, now i realize that I don't have any solid proof that a god exists. So, i look at it as i shouldn't say that one does or doesn't exist, because i don't have anything to back up those statements.

 

Just thought that this would be a fun fact to put. A while back my grandmother and I were arguing about religion. Nothing major, just a conversation. I said, "But, you don't actually know that God is real. What if he's not? Then you're doing all of this for nothing." She replied, "Well, I just figure that even if he isn't real, why take the chance." I just ended it there, but i wanted so bad to reply, "You could say that about any religion!"

So our drama teacher was our substitute, and we were talking about the Cold War. So our substitute walked right up and said outright. "Communism is bad because they're all Atheists." I was like, "Uh, I'm an Atheist." And she said, "That's bad. You have no faith in anything."

I was born and raised Christian

but after growing up and learning more in science I shed that perspective .

I still believe in God but I refuse to listen to the bible since it's so contradictory to all the stuff we've got proof of.

I also believe in the spirit moving on without the body.... it's weird

so I guess somewhat agnostic

i go to catholic church (forced to by my dad...) and I want believe in god but everytime i see the special ed kids at school (i have a teacher aid period with them), my grandma suffering from dementia and cant remember her name or thinks its the 1950s, the homeless, watched my mom suffer from breast cancer while she was divrocing my dad, just kinda makes it hard for me to believe that theres a god out there who loves us. and i know i already posted in the christian thread, its just ive been going to a catholic church my whole life and i feel like im pressured to believe in god by my church and dad and people at school (theres a lot of catholics at my school)

Don't feel pressured to believe what everyone else does.

Believe what you want, it's your choice.

I am an athiest. I do not believe in God, but I do believe that when I die I will be reborn as another person and live out a new life.

Right people believe in certain things knowing what tells a lot about the person. And it's interesting to see everyone view. Plus no flaming at all so no big whoop.

Never liked the conflits between religions.

I don't mind other people's religions, as long as they don't try forcing their beliefs on me and try to convert me, or say that I'll go to hell if I don't believe in God.
