Did Aaron Spann, Joshua's English voice actor in The World Ends with You, voice Joshua in Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance? It does not sound like the same voice actor!!

Featured Replies

I don't know, but the voices sound similar.

it is im pretty sure

Yeah, it's him.

JOSHUA, Y U SOUND LIKE ONION KNIGHT?!? He should sound less like a kid!

How old is Aaron Spann?

I think Aaron is 21. The one line Neku says in the trailer sounds like his voice acting from TWEWY. Either Aaron's voice has become higher while he aged (I do not see how) or there is a new voice actor. He could naturally be a tenor and did not try to lower his voice this time if he did that for TWEWY. Can someone post a video comparing the voice acting for Joshua from the TWEWY English version and the Kingdom Hearts 3D English trailer. That would make the comparison easier.

Also, maybe Square should have made a new trailer for English instead of dubbing the Japanese special Trailer.

It's him. I can tell as I've listened to Joshua's lines many, many times. It has the same tone to it, but it seems a bit higher pitched. It might be the different sound qualities of the consoles that makes him sound different. Or they may have made his voice higher. Maybe his voice had become deeper? I'd also like to remind everyone this video wasn't mixed too well. That may have something to do with it.

Whatever the case, it's definitely him. And I'm so glad! He IS Joshua. No one else could pull off that witty, arrogant, sarcastic yet lovable son of a gun like he can.

Also, people need to keep in mind that Joshua is supposed to sound effeminate...

I bet all his other lines sound great but they happened to pick the one line that he sounded off in

Yeah, he sounds like a girl,I hope they fix that problem.

How is this a 'problem'? Why would they 'fix' it?

He sounds like that in TWEWY.

It's just his voice.

Live with it.

He sounds like that in TWEWY.

He did not sound like that in TWEWY. This trailer makes him seem like a girl, or a young boy. He had a standard teenage pretty boy style voice acting in TWEWY. Maybe a high baritone (in between tenor and bass).

His battle quote have more edge to them, but his spoken lines are very similar. Even with his ingame quotes, he sounds a LOT like he does in the game. It's jsut that in this case, you get to hear Joshua say long, continuous lines, so you can notice his voice more. Joshua has always been effeminate. That's sort of his gimmick.

Though, if I'm perfectly honest, I feel that KH has a direct negative impact on voice acting. I'm guessing they have a terrible acting coach.

I admit, he sounded a lot more feminine in the trailer but when he said "..this guy." it sounded just like the Joshua I know.

When I first saw the trailer I honestly thought Shiki or Rhyme was talking....cause the voice sounded girly, but low and behold it actually turns out to be Joshua's voice. o.o;

Uh all I have to say is he sounded like a girl. And if he sounds like a girl in TWEWY,for I have not played TWEWY,all I have to say is,what is wrong with that voice-actors VOICE?!

Its a problem because he is a guy and him sounding like a girl is really messed up.It makes for not BAD voice acting just WEIRD voice acting because,AGAIN,he is a guy that sounds like a girl.

They got the overall

You guys hit the nail on the head.

On another note, I don't know what it is but I don't like how Joshua looks in kh3d. he looks so much better in the ds version and I know it's not just the change in consoles because beat, rhyme, neku and shiki all look fine to me.

Edit: i think it's his hair color, it's a grey in the ds version and in kh3d it's more of a blondish color.

All the TWEWY characters have the same voices in the game that they do in KH3D. It's just you're not used to hearing them so much that it seems weird. I personally think that Joshua's voice fits, since he is a very effemminate guy.

Why does everyone call him effeminate?

They sounds a depressed gay :( (or girl)

its the same voice actor in TWEWY, its just like Azure said you are not use to hearing them talk that much, which is what they will be doing in this game, they didn't say that much in TWEWY except for when you enter battle and give them stuff to eat, but seriously though, at first when I heard him in the trailer, I thought it sounded girly but than I heard it a lot more and I got use to it and it didn't sound that girly to me at all and I do think it actually fits him.

Well then again I've never played TWEWY so I wouldn't know what to expect. I just thought his voice would be deeper.

He sounds effeminate because because he ACTS very effeminate, and looks very effeminate, and is very effeminate. Throughout the game, he is either effeminate because he acts like a rich boy, and doesn't want to get his hands dirty, and also when he acts ambiguously gay. It sort of seems like he does this just to troll the cast of TWEWY. There are reasons for why he does everything he does, but it's also just sort of his personality. He's very flippant.

And Matthew, you should not judge a character as sounding 'wrong' if you haven't played the game they originate from.

I'll concede on the looks, (though I've seen males drawn in the anime/manga style that look way more feminine) cause I can see how the hair and hips(though neku's hips are even worse) can be considered feminine. But I don't really see how he acts feminine, in my opinion he's just a very laid back/teasing type character who jokes around a lot to annoy the heck out of neku and in all honesty I kind of wonder if that's what he's really like or if he's just putting on a facade.

His voice in TWEWY does sound higher than other males, but lower than girls like Shiki. But I am wondering if Aaron is trying to sound younger, but he does not pull it off. I will need to hear more lines from Joshua in English before I can make more judgement.
