Why is Nomura trolling the Disney villains?

Posted

Seriously, why is he doing this? In Kingom Hearts I they were a main plot element and served as secondary villains. Ever since then they've been trolled by Nomura with little to nothing to do with the plot. Way to go Nomura... Wasted all the Disney villains. This is something I want to be changed in Kingdom Hearts III. They should have the same role as they did in Kingdom Hearts I.

Maleficent - She basicly was the main antagonist of Kingdom Hearts I until Ansem showed up all the way to the end. Now her role is that of a secondary villain. She's been trolled TWICE. Once by the Heartless, then by the Nobodies (Orginization XIII).

Captain Hook - The one that's been trolled the most. He was wasted in 358/2 Days. They really turned him into a terrible villain. Really, it was a waste of one of Disney's most popular villains. What was he doing in 358/2 Days, digging for countless hours, trying to find treasure? What a waste. To think he had so much to do with the plot in Kingdom Hearts I (His knowledge of Keyblades, Command of Heartless, Attempting to find the Princess of Light in his world (though there wasn't), telling Sora about Hollow Boastion. Really a waste of a good villain.

Ursula - I almost felt bad for her in Kingdom Hearts II. Her purpose to the plot and story all meant nothing and she was reduced to a 10 year old's sing-a-long mini game antagonist. She may be hated by most fans but at least she was actually a good vilalin in Kingdom Hearts I.

Oogie Boogie - He was killed off twice. TWICE. His defeat in KH2 was so humiliating with all the bugs leaking out of him. Really, another pointless waste.

Jafar - LOL. Despite all his efforts he was killed off. TWICE. And served little to no role in Kingdom Hearts II. They made him a pointless villain. To think he'd go Genie just to get defeated by mere ants. Poor Jafar...

Hades - Maybe the only villain I'd say that didn't get trolled. Though he had a slightly less significant role in Kingdom Hearts 2, Nomura spared him.

So what do you think about Nomura trolling the Disney villains?

Featured Replies

nomura is a troll we all love. maybe they'll be back in KH3 lol

The focus shifted when the plot thickened. The more advanced the storyline the more the Disney villains are secondary .TBH I'm fine with that bc ive enjoyed the storyline so far. This wont change much for KH3 bc its wrapping up the Xehanort Saga. .They'll be included in the chaos causing trouble and laughs but forget them being the primary focus. Considering they really havent been the focus since KH1 i dont see why 7 games in this is now a big deal. Being the main focus in one game of the series and secondary all the rest has been the norm.

How is this trolling?...

You can only go so far without changing the reality of the Disney characters...

It is trolling. He turned Captain Hook who had a fairly major role in the series before Ansem was revealed into some idiotic pirate digging for treasures all day doing nothing but making a dumbass out of himself. Nomura needs to AT LEAST give them an equal role the same as Kingom Hearts I in Kingdom Hearts III as secondary villains.

LOL it seems you haven't seen Ursula in KH 3D yet, then. Now, that's humiliating.

Anyway, I can't say I'm particularly fond of any Disney villains, 'cept for Maleficent and Hades, and they still have good roles LOL I'll complain when they're used as the Organization's janitors.

Hook played a very important part in the Roxas/Sora relation by capturing Tinker Bell.

My opinion.

And we dont know if Hook or any of the other Disney Characters will be in KH3.

That's true, we don't but we already saw him in BBS so that could mean Nomura hasn't completley put him in the back of his mind. And he might, just MIGHT return all the original Kingdom Hearts I worlds in order to complete the Xehanort saga. With KH3 being the finale for the Xehanort saga, he needs to combine everything together and I think giving the Disney villains the same role they had in Kingdom Hearts 1 or as secondary villains would suffice.

How can you say trolling disney villains outside of KH 1? There have been plenty in BBS and KHII

KH II

Shaun Yu

The Hydra

Hades

Captain Barbosa

Oggie Boogie

Scar

Pete

Jafar

BBS

Hook

Hades

Meleficent

Magic Mirror

An Unversed born by the Step Mother and Ugly Stepsisters

Gantu

Hes not been trolling the Disney Villains at all.

Not sure what your talkin...

I'm not exactly upset with this. I hate the Disney villains, so I don't really care. But as long as they are there, I'd really rather them serve an actual purpose.

You forgot Ursula for Kingdom Hearts II. And aparently you don't know what the meaning of this topic is or what trolling means in this sense. What I'm trying to say is that the Disney villains shifted from main plot elements, to extremley minor and unimportant characters to the plot. Look at Hook in KH1 and compare it to Days. You'll know what I mean.

All you did was list most of the Disney villains in KH2 and BBS so I don't think you understand what Imma saying. And when I say "Disney villains" I mean Maleficent's group (Hades, Jafar, Ursula, Hook, Oogie Boogie).

So what do you think about Nomura trolling the Disney villains?

I like it this way.

I think the reality of it is that they're really not THAT important anymore, or at least for right now. The truth is, Xehanort is at the top of food chain as far as villans go, and because of that, the Disney villans become simple toys to the current keyblade wielders.

So now we have to wait until KH3 comes out, to see what unfolds for the Disney villans.

Personally, I don't really care for them, but they sure do add great comic relief to the story.

At the moment, I think it's better for them to focus less on the villains, as there is a lot they need to cover in the next few games, perhaps after the Xehanort they will play a bigger role again.

Well, there are bigger issues than each disney world itself, what I mean is that the main enemy is clearly Master Xehanort. I don't expect Ogie Boogie to be MX's right hand minion or something.

I understand what you want giving disney villains more role to play but unfortunately, they are secluded to their own world.

Edited by Exodaze

This is something which I do get upset about. The biggest hook in the first Kingdom Hearts for me was how all the villains had come together as one bloc and were combining their forces. Really, when you consider the combined power of each of them, it really is very potent. And I liked how they were handled in the first game, in that they were all actually made potent: Hades got to show off his manipulative wheeling and dealing; Ursula got to use her magic and salesmanship; Jafar actually got to find the keyhole and came very close to taking out Agrabah; Malificient got to take over Hollow Bastion; and Oogie Boogie and Captain Hook, being more comedic villains in their own right, still got to have, in my opinion, the most fun boss battles in the game. In short, they were taken seriously, and as such, they seemed like more potent threats to Sora and to the player.

What changed? Basically, after the success of the first Kingdom Hearts and the expansion of the universe, Nomura basically started making his own characters, focusing more of the story around them, and started reducing the status of the Disney characters. And with his own villains, like Org. XIII and Xehanort, taking more of the screen time, all there really was for the Disney villains (and characters and worlds, for that matter) were cameos. Basically, it's the universe of the game growing out from its roots, while trying to still reference them. Only the references that it can conjur now can not do justice to what was there before, and each time it becomes less heartffelt and sincere and more like an obligatory mention.

Personally, I would prefer a return to a more Disney based plotline, but then, if the Final Fantasy cameos are any hint, Nomura seems to prefer characters that he himself has created.

I think you're going a bit over the top. I honestly don't think Jafar and Boogie were trolled so much during Kingdom Hearts 2. Boogie had a very similar role to his KH1 and appearance and Jafar, admittedly had a much smaller role but the plot did revolve around him not being released and then getting released. So, I don't know if I would say he got trolled so much. And Hades definitely didn't get trolled at all really.

You forgot Ursula for Kingdom Hearts II. And aparently you don't know what the meaning of this topic is or what trolling means in this sense. Ok well if thats what you mean they werent really the main villains in KH I eaither, Ansem/Xehanort was/has been manipulating Meleficent and inturn Meleficent Manipulating the others. Once Xehanort saw they were useless and didn't need them they became less important, if you think about it works for the story.

the only reason i would want neverland in kh3 is To Fly IN CGI

I think the reality of it is that they're really not THAT important anymore, or at least for right now. The truth is, Xehanort is at the top of food chain as far as villans go, and because of that, the Disney villans become simple toys to the current keyblade wielders.

WTF is this? You're new here so imma let this slide, but FYI hombre red font is my shtick I've been rocking this shit for 2 years! haha jks :P Enjoy it I didn't think anyone else was red fonting around here!

Anywhore on topic it is kinda ghey how they bumped off Maleficent's council of evil in favour of sticking to the movies' plot in the Disney Worlds but I think letting Maleficent & Pete have their own agenda continue on doesn't completely disregard it I mean in Kingdom Hearts II Pete did his best to manipulate Disney Villains on Maleficent's orders, like I doubt Jafar would of appreciated becoming a Heartless, or how Oggie became uncooperative when his resurrection cost him his memory.

Plus I'm pissed Final Fantasy characters have practically been dropped as even minor characters, although I think it is interesting how they introduced TWEWY characters as opposed to Final Fantasy ones.

But bottom line all these changes are for Kingdom Hearts' benefit, like the series didn't start on the backs of it's original characters but on it's curious mix of Disney movies with Final Fantasy! However since Kingdom Hearts II the series has defo become more about the plight of it's original characters ,which is close to or around 40 including villains now. So the change in focus and still trying to find the time to tell how Disney stories relate to this is so interesting and enhances the overall Kingdom Hearts story.

^THIS. Couldn't agree more. Nomura does seem to prefer his own characters but despite this, he should still give the Disney villains a fair role in the game. Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories gave the Kingdom Hearts series more originality but the Disney villains added a lot of humor and villainy.

i disagree ive always found hook to be a coward, a idiot, though he would like to pretend otherwize i read the original storys seen the disney film seen diffrent movies books with diffrent takes and EVERY version, well

Peter and the starcatchers (basicly how peter got to be peter pan why he could fly really good book but...) with hook he still cant ever catch peter he trys the most stupidest attempts, good trys, kidnapp his freinds the possible love intrest, he was trying ranshack the boat that peter and molly were on, he fails EVERY ATTEMPT gets his boat stuck in the cove comeing up with crazy half baked scemes that fail each time,

the original peter pan story: hook and peter are always fighting hook seems like hes peters opposit on every level, its sad if you think about it, a adult pirate trying THAT hard to defete a 10 year old boy and on all fregards HE IS TEN, hook is just some grumpy man whos throwing a fit because a ten year old is always throwing pranks on him teaseing him, cut off his hand and threw off his hand to the crocidile, that IS kind of sad, grow up you old codfish!

HOOK peter pan is all grown up hook kidnaps his kids wins his son over, this hook was the most intresting but at the same time at the end hook basically threatens peter that he would come after his children and his childrens children this wasnt over, he was defeted because of a crocidile clock falling on top of him

enough of my rant, hook is a imature crazy man who is petrified by the ticking of a clock, who is always freaking out or comeing up with crazy half baked scemes he has anger issues jelousy issues, smee may be bumbling but hes alot less crazy then hook, personally i love that story i really do..i just dont see hook as a good villan...

  • 4 months later...

.. Yeah, Disney villains has been killed. Now they only are cameos in their own worlds without knowing that there is more beyond their own world. One thing I loved about KH1 was because one of the biggest elements were Disney stuff. It was interesting to meet all your favorite Disney characters and fight against villains. It felt same as if they had taken hand full of PS1 Disney games and putted them all together to one awesome game. The whole game hinted that Maleficent and co. were main villains of the game and on last hours of KH1: bang! Ansem appears and I was quite disappointed.

And now, the villains don't know about each other and they have smaller and smaller role all the time. DDD put some focus on them, but it wasn't enough. Especially because of the fact that villains weren't one group like they used to be in KH. I'm also kinda scared that FF characters will be forgotten. That would be horrible.

I'm not saying that Org. XIII is bad group, but KH hasn't felt the same anymore. Now it's fun game to play with good story, not magical experience I had when I was kid.

They really should put villains back together and make KH3 more like battle between three factions: Sora and co., Org. XIII and Disney villains. That would be good way to end Xehanort saga.
