Who wants KH3 to have the new Luminous game engine?

Posted

The Luminous engine debuted in the "Agni's Philosophy" Tech Demo. In my opinion, the engine could fit KH3 in terms of how realistic it makes the characters look. So, in other words, I would like for it to be used in KH3. :) What do all of you think?

I don't know anything about game engines. I see people talking about different game engines being used on different games and such, and I have no idea what all this means but, I think I understand this:

Kingdom Hearts and realism... No.

Kingdom Hearts should remain with its current cartoon-ish look.

I don't want to see realistic Donald Duck.

When it comes to Cutscenes, sure but for now, during non CGI Cutscenes, i prefer the Manga/Anime like style that Kingdom Hearts has used up to now.

I wouldn't mind if the game engine was used to enhance the character's looks during the opening of KH3, and maybe the ending. But, like you both said, Kingdom Hearts should keep its cartoon-ish origins and feel. I agree with that, especially with cutscenes and perhaps gameplay. :)

YES. YES. YESSSSSS!!!

KH would lose the cartoon look, but the graphics would be superior!^^

Then KH would lose parts of its charm and feel.

And the graphics ain't bad as it is now (yes, I know you didn't say that), it's just different from other types of graphics.

I wouldn't say Minecraft has bad graphics. One can't really compare it to other games such as FFXIII or Halo 3, because it is an entirely different game with a different style.

The cartoon-ish feel of KH is a part of the series' fame, so I wouldn't see that aesthetic sense being discontinued during the series.

Can you show us some of this engine?

This is disney. It's supposed to have a cartoonish look, it's part of the charm. Think of it this way: Do you really want to see a realistic Pete?

i wouldnt mind it if Square boosted the graphics up in KH3 but im not so sure about realistic characters. but still i woulndt mind.

Errr...I think they should use it for certain "important" cutscenes during the story *ala FF XIII* but for the whole game I would have to say no...it's cartoon/anime look is what gives Kingdom Hearts it's style in my opinion...

tutti frutti. For important cutscenes I wouldn't mind it too much, though maybe not the entire game. My main concern is if it would take forever to accomplish like Versus.

I hope that working with the Luminous engine doesn't take forever to master, too. I- agreeing with what you said- wouldn't mind the engine being used in important cutscenes, too. An example would be an opening cinematic for KH3. :)
