Video games don't, but what you said has no basis, and I was taking it as serious in my post as I thought you were taking that statement.

It's silly to think that something actually has a meaning or purpose. Everything we think and value about something is self imposed. It's not real, we create it as a coping mechanism. Applying meaning to something is how we deal with the grand scale of life, but meaning is an inherently non-existant concept. Nothing MEANS anything, and ultiately nothing will matter.

That doesn't really matter though. I mean, if you want to take that as an emo statement, or a reason to give up or something, by all means.

Think ecosystems. That's the simplest example. But if life itself is just here and.. thats it, then that's not scientific atall. That's someone's perspective on the world and life.

See, a purpose implies an end as a result of means. An ecosystem doesn't serve a purpose, it just is, and will eventually not be.

The purpose for any game is to entertain. If I said something you like was "without any meaning or purpose" you would probably flip off at me. Anime, for example, is without meaning or purpose because it doesn't entertain me. However, it is created to entertain people other than you. So, since it's a very well selling game, I'm pretty sure COD has fulfilled it's purpose of entertainment.

and I, for one, am very entertained by squealers. That's a good enough purpose in my book.

Besides, CoD is really similar to a good number of first person shooters, and in the end it's really just for casual fun over all.
