Sora and Kairi may be the most heavily hinted at pairing, but even between those two, the friendship is the most important thing and the focus.

That's so true! I was only thinking of in-game things, but I forgot about that! There's also a KH1 art (the Final Mix one, I think) where Kairi's pretty much leaning her head on Sora's shoulder. And then there's also that one pic with Sora, Donald, Goofy, Riku, and Kairi (the one where they're stretching Sora's face and forcing him to smile) where Sora has a hand on Kairi's shoulder.

 

Woah I forgot the one where everyone is stretching Sora's face out is my desktop background lol, after I read your post I closed my chrome window, and saw it, I was like "Isn't that the picture someone on KH13 was just talking about?" Coincidence? I think not!

People will look for any reason to ship characters. Personally though I think Sora and Riku are more brotherly seeing as they grew up together.

I don't think Disney themselves are homophobic, just looking out for themselves as a business. If you publicly confirm something like that, you'll get half of your fans and supporters all pissy because the consumers are homophobic, not the company themselves. By not letting anything be confirmed, they're protecting their own asses.

The foundation of Disney was, I won't lie. Walt Witman was a man of colourful opinions. Modern day Disney, in my opinion, is at making some progress forward and not being so close minded. Being a family company, they do need to keep themselves PC, and with a controversial topic such as homosexuality, I do not blame companies for being tight lipped on their stance. Look at the huge Chick Fil A incident, imagine if that happened to Disney. It'd break the company.
