Organisation XIII (Kingdom Hearts series)

 

Kingdom Hearts' utterly needless Organisation XIII serves only to muddy the waters of a previously enjoyable and simple (and Clean if you want an in-joke) plot. Its members invariably turn up a few times wearing a hood over their eyes before whipping it off with a 'ta-da' sort of intention. What a shame we always think 'Oh look! It's... erm... who's that again?' Know what that is? That's the sign of a hood poorly used, folks. For shame.

Reason for hood: Presumably to annoy everyone in the world

Does hood come down? Yes, thank goodness

If hood were removed altogether? 40 hours less game

"Organisation" is how it's spelled in Britain so I guess I can't criticize that. But besides that fact, this guy really annoys me with all his negativity, especially since this supposed to be a "Best of..." list. Thoughts?

Utterly useless Organization XIII...yes, they were just completely useless weren't they? They never moved the plot forward. IN ANY WAY. I mean, its not like they were the main antagonists or anything. Or like they served to challenge Sora's beliefs. Or like, they hinted at an eventual large Xehanot consipiracy against the world. Nope. None of that. And that one organization member, Axel? Yeah, we won't see him again as anyone important. Not like one of the seven lights if that's what you're thinking.

 

And they certainly never had badass weapons and just overall kicked ass. NEVER.

 

And don't even get me started on the "simple and clean" storyline, the first game was that way for a reason, the game has evolved to become more complex, only people who don't get it are mad about that.

 

Not to mention Organization XIII has been around since CoM and are pretty much here to stay in the series, like seriously.

I call bullsh*t.

Admittedly, they have a point about the hood thing. There wasn't much use in concealing their identities if we either already know who they are, or they're revealed in due time to be total strangers. I suppose one can be annoyed at dramatic flair of pulling down their hoods, but that's what you get for being baddies in the KH franchise. 'Tis all about ham and drama, folks.

I'm a bit disturbed from that article. Organization XII is amazing and really adds more depth and power into Kingdom Hearts. Quite a bit in Kingdom Heart is around Organization XII which appears in Day 358 and KH2. If they didn't have their hoods, there would be no suspense or surprises. Hiding their identity make us more curious and excited.

 

Who ever wrote the article needs to play the game or get out off the internet.

The organization was one of kh's main foundations.it's like disney without donald duck/goofy/minnie.

Really? I thought that KH2 balanced it well, still giving you the Disney experience with the Organization mixed in between. KH2 was still a very unique game and I think the Organization helped it come into its own as a franchise rather than being JUST a Final Fantasy and Disney crossover.

The Disney element is completely downplayed and useless to the plot.

KH2 made KH into another generic anime. They made Sora the idiot hero, disney became pointless, the Organization is used to cover anime stereotype in one convenient package.

In all honesty...I can see where they're coming from. Like many things in KH Organization XIII was one of those concepts that felt like it feel short of the mark as an antagonistic secret group. Starting with the fact that they weren't all that secret and there wasn't much point in disguising them selves to begin with. Not to mention about half of the members were filler or one shot characters. I think they were at their most interesting and intimidating in (Re:)CoM, after that they were kind of just there for Sora to pick off.

That's exactly is, the Organization has an impact on the Disney worlds, but not the reverse. nothing meaningful actual comes of a Disney world, unlike in Kingdom Hearts 1, which had Sora, Donald and Goofy learn some sort of lesson, as well as show an impact on the overall plot (Wonderland shows us Disney princesses being captured, Deep Jungle has the monkeys give us Gummi pieces, Riku visits some worlds, for his own reasons, Captain Hook's ship is used as a space faring vessel) in Kingdom Hearts 2, the Disney worlds are completely irrelevant to the story. They are basically filler until Sora can revisit Hollow Bastion or Twilight Town for the next plot point. Nothing of value is gained by visiting these worlds, and that has been true with every game after KH1.

This is not. This is another sword wielder. That's what all trhe villains are now, basically final fantasy villains, attempting to force bullshit psychology onto the franchise in the weirdest ways.

You see, the Disney aspect used to have a reason to be a part of Kingdom Hearts. The worlds you visited used to have a purpose. Now Kingdom Hearts is so enamoured with itself that the Disney is completely pushed aside, and every decision is based on fan-service. It no longer matters what world you visit. Sora could go to a Loony Toons world. A Star wars world. A Full metal Alchemist world. an Edgar Allen Poe world. It wouldn't matter. the entire focus is placed on an organization of anime characters, and characters have been adjusted to fit general anime archetypes rather than actually evolving into something new, like a Disney X Final Fantasy cross over SHOULD be.

Well, uh, for one, you got bratty with me the last time I gave an opinion, so I'm just keeping my bases safe. Guess there's no reason to....

 

Anyways, I think you're forgetting something: with each new world there is a new lesson to be learned. Remember the moral values in each of these films and how they are transferred to the KH series. These themes and lessons are supposed to be learned by Sora, who absorbs each experience in the worlds so they can drive him to accomplish his own goals. In every single game, Sora learns these lessons, no matter how many times he visits them, or no matter who is the main antagonist of the main plot; it all matters, no matter what.

 

And uh, HELLO? Keyblades? Is that nothing or we just saying their useless now? I'm sorry, but I felt that needed to be said. Mark it irrelevant if you want.

 

Back to the real argument: We still have the fun of yucking it up with our Disney pals, fighting in tournaments in the Colisiem/Underworld, riding Light Cycles in Space Parnoids/The Grid...heck, we've tree surfed with Tarzan and rode the Black Pearl with Jack Sparrow! That's pretty in tune with the Disney aspect if you ask me. Besides, without the Disney worlds, where would the oh so anime generic Organization gather their hearts from? Various repeat trips to Radiant Garden?

 

And may I remind you, we have a tiny but kickass mouse with a Keyblade on our team, a supposedly "useless" Disney character who happens to be a Keyblade Master. Yeah. I went there.

 

There's plenty of plot and value in these worlds: Sora gets there, helps out, maybe fights a main antagonist to the story, maybe learns something about him/them or their plan, meets up with some Disney characters, fights the bad guys there, plays some mini-games, fights some Heartless/Nobodies, fights an enemy designed like it was made as a tribute to that world...we've seen the same cycle since 1. It's all there, Hatok. It is.
