dusk 910 Posted November 28, 2012 Nintendo hasn't abandoned their older console even after release of Wii U. The rumors about Wii mini started yesterday and they have been confirmed by Nintendo today. Currently the black model with red outlines is exclusive for Canadians. As you can guess from the name, the console is smaller than original. The box contains red Wii remote plus and Nunchaku as well. The wallet of buyer will be lightened with about 99 dollars. The smaller prize will be compensated with deleting of internet connections. Wii mini can't be connected to internet even for multiplayer games. The WiiWare and Virtual Console will be taken away as well. Also the compatibility with GameCube games will be taken away. This came as big surprise for me. This was one of the last things I expected Nintendo do. Well, this is pretty good offer for people who haven't got Wii and don't care about internet capabilities. I'm not gonna even think buying this if this ever comes to Finland and I really wonder why the red one is Canadian exclusivity: o
Hei 3,233 Posted November 28, 2012 Whoa, that definitely is a surprise. They haven't done that since the SNES Mini

Caity 3,946 Posted November 28, 2012 It looks pretty neat, but given the age of the original Wii and it's internet capabilities I don't see why anyone would choose this over a wii, unless they already had a Wii to begin with. But even I did I would rather save my money for the Wii U instead of a small version. I already though the original Wii itself was tiny.

P50L 610 Posted November 28, 2012 No Internet Connectivity, no Backwards Compatibility What, Nintendo is now the Gaming Industry's Apple? This looks pointless!

AirbagVII 386 Posted November 28, 2012 I decided to make a short video with all the details we know about the Wii Mini so far! Hope you enjoy!
Weiss 8,279 Posted November 28, 2012 So it pretty much lost some stuff. I guess if you only want the Wii for Wii games it could be worth it. I think it would be more worth it to save up for the Wii U but of course not everyone will have the money for that.
hatok 6,413 Posted November 28, 2012 No Internet Connectivity, no Backwards Compatibility What, Nintendo is now the Gaming Industry's Apple? This looks pointless! Sony did it first. Anyways, this is a pretty terrible deal. I could go down to Costco and get a full Wii with backward compatibility, internet, Kirby's Epic Yarn, New Super Mario Bros, and it'd only cost 50 dollars more. Seriously, this has no value
DragonMaster 1,166 Posted November 29, 2012 I like the way it looks, but otherwise, I don't really see it being worth anything. Taking away the internet features and backwards compatibility is really just bleh.
Weiss 8,279 Posted February 27, 2013 (edited) Update: Despite it's many lacks compared to the original wii u, the wii mini has sold over 35,000 units in Canada already. The system will go on sale in Europe March 22nd. source: http://mynintendonews.com/2013/02/27/35700-wii-minis-sold-in-canada/ Edited February 27, 2013 by Keysofblades
KingdomHearts3 2,591 Posted February 27, 2013 What's the point of getting it if it does less than the original Wii?
Weiss 8,279 Posted February 27, 2013 What's the point of getting it if it does less than the original Wii? for those who don't have the money for the wii and or don't really care about the internet, gamecube playing etc. imo the regular wii is better for the extra bit of money but oh well. It sold so I guess it works.
Junko 2,815 Posted February 28, 2013 Wii mini?? wow didnt see that coming. Eh, i like my original wii better
advfox 698 Posted February 28, 2013 In that case I don't see the point in games like Mario Kart Wii, which are nothing without online capabilities.
