The Commissar is to represent the moderation, the Gaurdsman hugging the Commissar represents us members. The fighting in the background represents the flamewars ensuing around us. 

 

Now that the hug and metaphor is aside lets get some things straight.

 

In the light of recent events, several members have been temporarily banned from the forums (and I'm assuming the rest of the website), including Kinode who is a fairly long time and prominent member that we've all come to know and interact with daily. One of our moderators, Koko has departed voluntarily as well whether this is due to recent events on these forums or her own personal life we will never know and it certainly isn't our business to know but I felt it should be brought to attention as we are down one moderator.  Correction, it appears Koko was let off the moderation team and left shortly after that. Point is, we are down a mod. 

 

It appears that the rule change and the discussion of whether it should stay, be modified, or repealed all together is the catalyst behind these events. Initially it started out as a civil conversation and it still is for the most part. However this has seemed to have disgruntled many of our members or as the internet would say, "Rustled their jimmies".

 

The current state of KH13

 

This jimmie rustling has appeared to have caused some old grudges and bad blood to spark out temporarily between members in a public fashion. The validity of the claims people have made cannot be determined. What we all need to do is chill out and think rationally before the bloody forum goes into all out anarchy. You may be thinking to yourselves "This is Amon (fredfredbug4 for the old farts) writing this thread! How of all people could he be calling for calm? He is a troll! This is probably some troll plot!". I can't blame you for thinking that way but nonetheless those are not my current intentions. I like this forum, whenever I actually do troll here it's very light hearted and in a way that will not permantly damage my relationship with other people on this website but I digress.

 

Everyone needs to take a step back and calm down. We need to go back to the civil discussion about these rules and prevent escalation to a clusterfiretruck. Any personal problems you have with other members should be brought to the attention of a moderator. That is their job after all, to moderate, it's in the title. Or if you don't want the Moderator Inquisition looking down upon your problems in the name of the God-Emperor of KH13 then sort your problems out personally with the other person, just be nice. 

 

Just remember a few things:

-DChuich, Aaron (he has to be lurking through all of this) and the moderators are trying to work out a compromise whether you are against the rules changes, indifferent, or for them. Let's not make DC loose hope and actually rule the website like The God-Emperor of Mankind (Think Jesus-Hitler in space). 

 

-The drama isn't necessary, the drama doesn't make anything better, any drama causers will face vigilante justice by me in the form of moderate trolling (cause it's all I can f'in do)

 

-For the most part we all got along pretty well in the past (with minor disturbances of course) so lets not ruin that now.

First, I want to say Amon, despite you're trolling, and our (sometimes vastly) different political views, you are still one of the members I respect most on this site. I would hope no one would expect this to be some troll plot.

 

Anyway, reading this thread I'm glad I finally got a (somewhat) straight answer as to WTF has been going on. I don't know what went on with Koko, but if she left voluntarily then I see no reason to create a s***storm about it. As for Kinode (the only member I knew was banned before this thread), after reading a thread he made that was very quickly deleted, and Cella's comments on why he was banned, I think a temporary ban was for the best (before he did something worse and got perma-banned, which wouldn't be fun, since I would consider Kinode one of my "friends"* on this site). 

 

People just need to calm down. And the fact that this was started by a rule change? Disappointing.

THANK YOU.  I've been trying to keep an arm's length at all the drama recently unfolding because it's difficult to take a side and the whole thing's way too heated.  It's weird because for a community brought together by a video game franchise promoting friendship and killing things with keys, the place is getting pretty Dark.  No one wants to pull a Terra and become the very thing they're fighting against: namely, poor reactions brought by the unnecessary rustling of jimmies (and creepy grandpas, I guess).  Unfortunately, this is the internet and you can't expect everyone to be civil.  I suppose the best you can hope for is to keep a cool head and at least attempt to be the rational one.

A rule was added that forbade the use of creating threads entirely centered around inside jokes or individual members. Many people including myself saw this as a problem because we feel it is restricting our own little culture that we created here on KH13. The counter argument is that these inside joke threads exclude newer/more reserved members and make them feel left out. Some people don't care as they are not aware of the rule or it doesn't really effect them.  Read into to it a bit and form your own opinion.

I am well versed in the line of internet drama, so I discovered the best way to handle it is to either pummel it into oblivion with heavy trolling or try to calm everyone down. I chose the latter because I actually like the people here.

It appears some people have some grudges that they never really got settled and found that this was the excuse to go all out. 

 

I also think DC should of waited to remove Koko from the staff for a few days to a week. Doing it today almost caused an uproar.
