Ok, so i really want to get FF I - VI. What are some good remakes or collection i could get, and what consoles or handhelds are they best on. So i can play these games alot easier without having to buy really expensive consoles and games i can't afford. Thanks. And links to things i can buy are good too.

THEATERHYTHM AINT NO PUSSY SHIT.

If you own a Wii, you can purchase I, IV, and VI on the virtual console.

The PS1 had collections that let you play II, V, and VI, though if you're going to play them on a PS2, I believe you need an old PS1 memory card.

The DS had remastered versions of III and IV.

The GBA has remastered versions of I, II, V, and VI.

PS1 has I and II, as a collection. In fact, the PS1 has FF 1,2 4, 5 and 6 on it in some shape or form (Along with Chrono Trigger :3)

I think it's agreed that the GBA versions of V and VI are their definitive versions, however many people stand by the original translation for VI being superior to the remade one.

The PSP harbours the definitive versions of FF1, 2 and IV (As well as its sequel. In fact, there is an interquel exclusive to the PSP version)

But at the end of teh day, you can find I and IV pretty much anywhere. The ones you REALLY want to look for are V and VI, as they aren't remade as much. Also, III and II are kind of rare because they didn't make it overseas until much later. The ONLY ways to access III outside of Japan,as far as I know, are through phones, where you get the original 8 bit version, or via the 3DS remake.

Also, if you have a PS3 with PS2 compatibility, it is possible to play EVERY numbered Final Fantasy to date on it... except III

But yeah, you can get  the PS1 versions of the classics on the PSN, for ten dollars each (I and II are bundled)

Thanks for the help guys. :D

But what exactly does this mean? lol

I'd go for the PSPIt has the Anniversary edition of I and II, and also the Complete Collection for IV, having IV, the IV Interlude and FF IV: The After Years. I believe III is also a current Japan-only game, whether made or in-making.

Thanks for the help guys. :D

It's what happened BETWEEN IV and IV's sequel, which is available ONLY on the PSP version.

So from this info. i think i'll get I II and IV for the PSP, and the V and VI collection for the PS1, and i googled which is the FF Anthology? and there is III for the DS right? or is that Japan only?

It would help if we knew what handhelds and consoles you had, you might want to wait since they said they might remake FF5 and FF6 on the 3ds, but then again I think that was like when it was first released and no news of it has been seen since.

Edit: ew caps.

Well it seems like they helped me out perfectly fine without me telling them what i owned. and thanks for that, i might look into that.

Yeah, you caught me I just didn't wanna look up all the different versions. And no problem.

DS is worldwide

Might be a bit hard to find nowadays, but shouldn't be that much of a problem.

Honestly, if you could, I'd avoid the PS1 remakes, they're widely regarded as the worst ports available. The Advance version of IV, V and VI all have extra content, such as bonus dungeons, enemies, items, and even scenes, for example. The PS1 versions tend to have problems, and I've heard the translation for V is abysmal.

Oh, and on a side note, the DS version of IV is DRASTICALLY different from any other version, to the point where I'd suggest getting both the DS version and the PSP, PS1 or GBA version.

There's several ways you could go with getting Final Fantasy I-VI.  If you have a DS, DS Lite or DSi (basically any DS that's not the 3DS), you could get the games all for that system.  Otherwise, I'd aim for getting the games on the PS1.  If you have a PSP, you could download some of the games from the PS network, but that's assuming you have quite a large memory stick that'll hold data for all those games (we're talking about 2 games per card, approx).

If you go the DS/GBA route, get:

Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls (link)

Final Fantasy III (link)

Final Fantasy IV (link)

Final Fantasy V (link)

Final Fantasy VI (link)

The PS1 way might be a little cheaper, since a lot of the games come in sets.  The only problem is you can't get Final Fantasy III, so you'd have to buy the DS version.

Final Fantasy Origins (Final Fantasy I and II remastered) (link)

Final Fantasy Chronicles (Final Fantasy IV and Chrono Trigger, buuuut Chrono Trigger is amazing--quite FF-like) (link)

Final Fantasy Anthology (Final Fantasy V and VI) (link)

If you like better graphics and/or voice acting, cutscenes, et cetera, you might want to break in and get Final Fantasy III and IV for the DS regardless.  Final Fantasy IV was AWESOME in high-quality graphics and cutscenes, which made me love the game even more than I once had.  Just something to consider.

Also, check out eBay--you might be able to find some lots for great deals on the series.

Hope that helped some; good luck!

nobody cares about the interlude lol

but FF4 proper and TAY more than make up for that

If you have more than one console, this is the way you should do it:

PSP: FF1 and 2

DS: FF 3 and 4

PS3: FF 5 and 6

For the DS, we had FFIV and III

and for the PSP IV the complete collection and III -_-

that's all I know
