...Is one of the 13 Darknesses? For one, he has definitely had ties withXehanort in the past, and even though he never showed any signs ofbeing Norted yet, that doesn't leave out the possibility. My biggestreason for thinking this is because he is wearing an Organization outfitin the Secret Ending of BBS, and tells Aqua that he can't remember somethings. That might be referencing how once someone goes back to theirown time, they forget what they experienced. Although, the only problemwith this theory is that scene takes place after the machine explodes inKH2, and I'm also not sure how true that is. Still, I think that couldbe a reason about why he was wearing that coat.

I don't know if it's true or not, but I remember either being told or read the cloaks help protect people going through darkness (aka, the corridors and RoD) and I've always assumed that's why he's wearing the coat, as that his memory loss is due to the explosion of the machine..

But it seems like a plausible theory apart from the time loop thing, considering he went there after KH2

I don't think so. Ansem hated Xehanort for betraying him, I think he'd go out fighting if Xehanort tried to use him as one of the thirteen vessels. The organisation cloaks protect the wearer from darkness, and Ansem was known to have them in his possession, as he gave Mickey and Riku their cloaks in chain of memories. Also, the heart encoder thing might have messed up his memory, or perhaps the realm of darkness did it to him..

 

This theory can't make much sense really. Re:com, Days and KH2 had huge emphasis on Ansem's quest to get revenge on Xehanort, he would rather die than be used by Xehanort again. Anyway, Ansem is in the dark realm now with Aqua, I'm pretty sure she'll protect him.

Doubt it.  Ansem's connection to Xehanort is getting betrayed and banished by him.  It's unlikely Ansem would be one of his vessels, especially given how he was working directly against Xehanort after said banishment.

Well those organization coats act like Terra Ven and Aqua's keyblade armor, they're worn to protect you from the darkness while passing through corridors of darkness. That's kind of like saying Lea could be a possible Xehanort because all through KH3D he was wearing his organization coat. (and we all know he's not a Xehanort). But I can't really see Ansem the Wise  as a possible Xehanort, he hates Xehanort and spent most of his time trying to take revenge on him. 

 

Anyways as for his memory loss I just thought that was from spending so much time in the Realm of Darkness(though that's probably not the reason) It could be because of his machine's explosion as Caity said. So that's my take on it.

Didn't Ansem the Wise say that it was the second time he had been there and he had memory loss both times? I'm pretty sure it's just a side effect of being in the dark realm too long...or he's just forgetful in his old age.

The coat protects it's wearer from the corrosive effects darkness has on the heart, that's why he's wearing it.

He probably has memory loss because the Kingdom Hearts Encoder exploded in in his face. The fist time he lost his memory was probably because he was beaten nearly to death his by apprentices before being banished. I don't think memory loss is a side effect of extended time in the RoD. After all, Aqua has been there for at least 11 years and she still remembers Sora, a boy she met only once.

Well idk i think there were legitimate reasons for him wearing the coat as stated above. But that is a interesting theory and i've never heard that one before, thnx for bringing something different ^_^

The coat is to keep him from being lost to darkness. How he lost so much memory from the explosion? I am not sure, but I know that he did not time travel. I do not think that he would be a darkness. Why would Master Xehanort want someone who was opposed to his efforts in the past and hold him back? He wouldn't want them because they would considered as recussants and would be marked for it (recall the sigil on Sora in KH3D).

Plot twist: Ansem the Wise was actually Xehanort the whole time!

 

In answer to your theory, I'd say it's possible, though that's just a gut reaction. Having a dark coat isn't enough evidence to support the notion however. If that were the case then Mickey was a possible vessel for a while. 

Unlikely, just because there's never been a sign he's lost his heart, which would make it harder for Xehanort's heart to fill him.

He does say (as DiZ) the cloaks are Darkness Armor, when he gives Riku and Mickey the coats.
