Thinking about buying one or the other for the Gamecube. Don't know why I didn't buy these before xD

Thank you for your input. I thought of some of this, but I thought it to be too confusing, as since Link was sent back in time 7 years, wouldn't there be another Link there that is the same link for that time? Because you sent him back, he got to live the seven years, and is still living, so he;d be there, but I'm not sure either xD

I was thinking the same thing. When Zelda sent Link back 7 years, she sent him to before he began searching for the Goron's Ruby and the Zora's Sapphire. That would make a 4th timeline xD

Or like the 10th Doctor says

Oh gosh Haha, I don't think I like the idea of a fourth time line xD

I know. The timeline is already confusing as it is 8D

Indeed. I'm going to assume that there isn't one, as this is the official timeline produced around Skyward Sword.I like the way they set up this timeline, as you can tell where there may be future games at. I would love to play as OoT Link again.

The Zelda story line is probably more confusing than the Kingdom Hearts' linear one... On second thought, nahh.

I want a game about what happened before Skyward Sword, I haven't played but I want to know the story of Hylia's Chosen Hero, the first Link.

For some reason I can't seem to open the spoilers on your post, but here's my basic understanding of it:

  • Link wakes up one day and is told that he has to defeat Ganon. So, he goes and gets the Master Sword and fights Ganon. He's just a kid, so when Ganon knocks the sword out of his hand (like he did in OoT) all he has left is his 9 year old muscles and wooden shield. Needless to say he doesn't succeed, so the Sages send him back to when he was back in bed. The timeline that had Link defeated results in Ganon's complete domination of Hyrule, and that universe still exists. The beginning of OoT is now another universe starting fresh. This universe is the Defeat timeline, where a Link to the Past through Zelda 2 happen.

  • This timeline is what you see in OoT. Link wakes up, gets the gems, gets the medallions, but this time, the Sages know he's just not ready to defeat Ganon yet, so they seal him in the Sacred Realm until he's slightly more fit for combat, 7 years later. He then defeats Ganon and is sent back in time to be a kid again by Zelda. The universe that's now missing Link, though, continues on. With no hero around, Ganon eventually comes back and nobody can stop him. This is the Adult Timeline, where Wind Waker through Spirit Tracks happen.

  • Once Link is back to being a kid, he now knows that he man he sees through Zelda's window is in fact Ganondorf, and reports him to the royal guard. They arrest him and the Sages execute him. This is shown in Twilight Princess. This timeline then follows on with Majora's Mask, Twilight Princess, and FSA.

Sorry, Haha, this is what was in the spoilers.

The Hero is Defeated:

This is the timeline that explains what would have happened if Link, from Ocarina of Time, had died between Zelda getting captured after revealing she was Shiek, and finishing Ganon off as the monster Ganon. (I say this because if Link had died anytime earlier, the events in the Hero was Defeated timeline would have been impossible, because Link is the one who led him to the Sacred Realm and revealed Shieks Identity)  I'm going to assume that there is a game between The Hero is defeated, and A Link to the Past, explaining the missing info. (Maybe the LttP gamethat Nintendo announced is a prelude of sorts?) Anyways, LttP, Ganon is revived, and defeated, Oracle of seasons/ages, revived and defeated once more, (another game is missing here most likely,) and in Zelda, is

revived and defeated again. And in Adventure of Link, his revival is prevented, bringing peace to Hyrule at long last.

Child Era:

Now this is the most canon of the timeline, as it is seen in OoT that Link is in fact sent back in time to relive his child hood. Link goes off to search for Navi, but in his absence (since in this timeline, Ganon was not sealed in the Sacred Realm) Ganon is believed executed, however, because he holds the Triforce of Power, he lives, and kills one of the seven sages. He is then sent, by the remaining six sages, into the Twilight Zone (couldn't resist it,) where he eventually teaches Zant his dark powers. (This happens during the course of Majora's Mask, and maybe a little after.) (I'm going to assume that there is yet another

game missing here as well between OoT and TP where this Link gets married, has kids, and dies of some kind of accident, as he states in TP that he had regrets that he never got to teach anyone his secret abilities [these abilities were most likely gained in the same game, as he never uses those abilities prior to TP.]) A New Link is born, sharing the bloodline of the OoT and MM Link. (This Link is seen in game as the Golden Wolf/Hero's Shade) (I have to stop here, as I haven't played Four Swords adventure.)

Adult Era:

This split COULD be canon, but is most likely not, as in OoT, Link is sent back to relive his childhood. This is what would happen if he did not, and kept living his adult life. Link goes on another adventure (I'm going to assume that their is ANOTHER game branching these two) and

because of Link's absence, Ganon escapes the Sacred Realm (where he was sealed at the end of OoT) and without a hero, Hyrule prayed to the Godesses to protect them, so they sank them. (haha) (This may not be true, but I think that there is another game here as well, explaining why Ganon did not attack sooner... Unless I missed something in Wind Waker) And thus, Wind Waker happens. This Link may or may not be a descendant of OoT link. It is never confirmed, but I'm going to assume that he is not, as Link most likely died before settling down. (This is also where I'm going to stop, as I haven't played anything else in that Timeline.)

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Ah alright, thanks ^^

But the way that I see it, they're all canon. As long as a new universe is created every time Link is sent back in time, all three timelines can co-exist and they all make sense in the context.

One does not simply explain the Zelda timeline. This was pretty good. Although I think it confused me more than not trying to connect the story at all :P

The Zelda Timeline. But I understand the the timeline completely unlike most Zelda fans who may get confused.

Doesn't Zelda consist of 3 alternate timelines? or something like that?

It's understandable to be confused by the Zelda Timeline.  For so long they didn't give any hint of notion as to what came first (there's loads of fan made timelines to find out there).  It doesn't follow a chronological order with the same characters each time, having each (except a few direct sequels like MM to OoT) game with a newly incarnated Link, Zelda and Ganon, set in different places and centuries apart.  If someone has actually played all the KH games (specifically in chronological order too) it'd be far less confusing to the general public.

Doesn't Zelda consist of 3 alternate timelines? or something like that?

Yeah, there are three alternate timelines.

I thought it was gonna be 'Human Brain'...

Which is why they made a timeline video for it first

It doesn't seem to be important. So I just don't worry about it. :P

Actually the most confusing thing I know is why people don't like KH.

In the title: "Did you mean KH3D?"

Well the Zelda timeline is confusing because most fans believed that they was only one timeline, but instead there's this whole "multiple universes" that say that Link could fail in his some if his quests and etc, and it was just made so Nintendo could have a free hand to work on Zelda games forever.

Personally I don't like the theory that say Link can actually  be defeated in anyway whatsoever, so I don't like the Timeline. It's not confusing, just... really frustrating that Nintendo actually said Link could lose.

and making topics that say you think you're somewhat smarter is not cool

I think I have a more solid understanding of the Zelda timeline than the KH timeline. Both of them were kinda just made up as they went along though.

I want a game about what happened before Skyward Sword, I haven't played but I want to know the story of Hylia's Chosen Hero, the first Link.

here you go the first link
