Ever since Final Fantasy XIII went to the Xbox 360,we've been seeing the term "exclusive" becoming less and less relevant as the time went on.

 

Games that were exclusives in the past are now going the multiplatform route and even games that were exclusives for months just went multiplatform.

 

Hell,MGS 5 is now on more than one console despite that MGS4 was a Ps3 exclusive(Could've released on 360 easily if you ask me).

 

So,in the future,it's becoming more obvious that there won't be any third party exclusives unless the developer of said third party is being funded to develop the game or by signing a partnership with them (a.k.a Bayonetta 2 and Sonic Lost World)

 

 

Consoles now are becoming more of a TV channels(Well,the Xbox One is already is),shows won't be aired exclusively on said channel unless the channel pays the studio to do so.

I don't really mind it . Just gives consumers more options and choices.

It's not like it's a bad thing. If they put their games out on more consoles they get more sales. In turn we get more games because the company gets more profit.

I don't say it's a bad thing,but it kinda takes away the uniqueness of some consoles.

 

When you get a Playstation,you expect Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy,but when it'a available everywhere it doesn't look more different than a multiplatform game like Call of Duty and Battlefield

Well it just forces people to pick a console based off of the console itself and the features it has to offer. Which is a good thing.

metal gear solid is not an exclusive series at all lol, the first one was ported to the gamecube, the second one was on the xbox and pc in addition to the ps2, and kojima said they wanted to put mgs4 on the xbox360 but they couldn't because of disk space limitations... 

Unless its Mario being exclusive to Nintendo Console or Halo being exclusive to Xbox,games should never be exclusive to one console.I don't get the idea,its really frustrating when a game is release on only one console for no reason at all and I was glad to see FFXV and KH3 annonced for the Xbox One even if I don't care for it.

 

Things like Sonic Lost World,Bayonetta 2,Castlevania the adventure Rebirth or Tales of Vesperia REALLY needs to stop.

Of course the term "exclusive" is still relevant. People use it to describe things that are only on one object.

I honestly dont care anymore as long as the games i want to play come out on the consoles i have or plan to get i dont really mind

Well you expect this, the only titles that would really be exclusive would be those who have partnerships where the money gained outweighed the benefit of cross platforming.  Multiplatforming increases potential profit.  Money is everything.  

When too many games go multi-platform and console exclusives

become fewer, it demotes healthy competition between video

game companies. There's less incentive to make killer apps

when everybody is batting for both teams and no longer trying

to surpass each other.

 

 

The massive numbers of exclusives across all systems and the

competitiveness between the companies is what helped make

gaming gens like the Genesis/SNES, PS1/N64, and PS2/Xbox/GC

gens so good. When too much is multi-platform, then there's

hardly any point in even having different consoles.

 

 

I'm not saying every game should be exclusive to a system,

but a lot more need to be. Otherwise, gaming will continue to

stagnate.

It's more profitable for the developers... it's the money that counts  .

Resident Evil Revelations? Went from exclusive to being multiconsole. No longer exclusive to even handheld platforms.

Kingdom Hearts? Went from a primarily sony series to being multiconsole.

That Rayman game that was going to be a Wii U exclusive, no longer is.

That Deus Ex Directors Cut that was going to be Wii U exclusive... no longer is.

Final Fantasy Vii used to only be on playstation, and now you can get it on steam.

The exclusivity is what made getting multiple consoles worth it,in every gen I try to get every console so I can play the games I love.

 

I got SNES and Sega Genesis

 

I got Ps1 N64 Dreamcast

 

and I got Ps2 and GameCube(couldn't find the original Xbox anywhere in my city)

 

It's just this gen and the next gen that made owning multiple consoles somehow pointless and it was also this gen that re-introduced the fanboys-console wartards after we almost forgot about it for a decade but this time people don't want to enjoy games,people wants to enjoying pissing each others off by fighting over specs and graphics as if their company would award them points for doing so.I got all three consoles yeah but only my Wii and Ps3 were working,it was pointless for me to own a 360 when I can find those games on Ps3 and that's how my 360 started to collect dust while my Ps3 and Wii are shining.

 

Also,if they won't make games exclusive,why make it for only a certain amount of consoles and leave the others in the dust??? Don't they have more teams to work on versions for other consoles?? even if those versions had inferior graphics,people still have the right to experience the game on whatever console they want if games are not exclusive anymore

Whether exclusive is relevant or not, one console version of the game is going to sell more than the other due to the consoles fanbase/features.
