July 6, 201312 yr It was a pride rally. NOT a performance at the Superbowl in front of millions of viewers. Nothing wrong with changing a couple of words at the end of the song for gays at a pride rally. She was making a point that it was the home of the free, and people can live here and be gay if they want too. Hence the meaning of FREE. Beautiful rendition though. Actually, that's a really big deal lol. It's a sign of disrespect. I can see why she did it, to support the gay community, but there's SO MANY WAYS to do so without changing the lyrics of a Country's national anthem. There were a lot of troops who fought in our wars there and they were highly offended and pissed off. Its just common sense to not do that. Just like how it's illegal and just flat out wrong to put anything else on the American flag. Some people tried to make a gay pride rainbow on the flag and got in a lot of trouble. Its just something you don't do. You can support the gay community without having to desecrate our Country's anthem, flag, and everything else. What she did was wrong and really offensive to many people who FOUGHT for everyone in this Country's freedom. Has nothing to do with being homophobes or against gays. It has everything to do with changing the lyrics to a national anthem which I actually thought was illegal and somewhere in the Constitution but I could be wrong. But I know putting anything on the American flag, burning it, and other disgraceful things is illegal.
July 6, 201312 yr Well... I can see that shes with the same gender marriage and I don't really have any problem with people loving their same genders and all but she didn't really had to do that with the US National Anthem. She could at least sing the Anthem right WHILE holding the pride flag in her hand with out changing the lyrics like that. She could have done that instead. Edited July 6, 201312 yr by RikuFangirl2008
July 6, 201312 yr Popular Post I know that it was at a pride rally, but I think pop singers in general should be forbidden from singing the national anthem. They seem to butcher it every time they sing it. This is how the National Anthem should be sung. Or like this A country's national anthem should portray what that country is all about. The two examples above do it, but every time a pop singer does it they treat it like it's their own song. That's treason if you ask me, the national anthem belongs to the country. Just for comparison, this is how other countries almost always sing their national anthems. They do it with pride and honor, not like American pop singers who do it for fame, glamour and of course, money. Seriously, everyone treats their national anthem with respect and honor. In America we might as well stop singing it. I cringe almost every time I hear some stupid pop singer butcher it.

July 7, 201312 yr Actually, Her Hand Should've Been On Her Heart. Ok... Yeah that and the mic should be on the mic stand if shes going to hold the flag in one hand and put her hand on her heart on the other.
July 7, 201312 yr Where's Jackie Evancho? She can do a better job then the entire Pop Genre can at this stuff. PS: Worst rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner I have evered willingly listened to. By the Beard of Zeus and Poseidon, I can find YouTube cover artists who can do a better job with a headset and amateur music mixing software. Edited July 7, 201312 yr by Oathkeeper136
July 8, 201312 yr Ok, even though I'm not an Armed Service Member of the US yet, this seriously pisses me off for SO many reasons, but the main one is the fact of using our country's NATIONAL ANTHEM to promote and/or support a cause. If a soldier does that by wearing their uniform during a public demonstration of a cause or something similar to it, it is a CRIME against the US as well as the armed services.Don't believe me? For the army, Look up the manual regarding the uniform. AR 670-1 (Army Regulation) Section 1-10, sub-clause section j. Too lazy? Here's the link. http://www.apd.army.mil/jw2/xmldemo/r670_1/head.asp Why am I comparing this to a soldier? Well, the National Anthem represents our country, much the same way how our Armed Service Members represent and personify our country and values. If a service member can't do this without getting in trouble, how the firetruck is she getting away with this?!
July 8, 201312 yr okay but what about christina aguilera Fumbling lyrics by accident does not equate to delibrately changing them to support a cause.
