To be honest, Kingdom Hearts is one of the minor games who still use 2D emotes in cutscenes or gameplay.

It didnt' actually bother me in the first games, but in BBS was so weird. Ventu's 2D face made him look like a fish and the hands were glued lik they are on The Sims... lol!

-.-

As 2D I mean the "blah-blah" faces and glued hands!! -.-

Birth by Sleep was in 3D.

Well KHBBS was in 3D ;p

But i think what you're talking aboutfor example when Vens eyes havent got that much life.

lol i dont know how to say this ;p

I find all their faces annoying.

I have no clue what you are referring to by 2d models...

I know what you are saying. Like when their faces look like they were drawn on a piece of paper then glued on their heads. When the faces are not animated and only the mouth is moving. I don't we will see that in KH3. And it's becoming in KH games. KhBBSFM had more animated faces. 1.5 has more animated faces too!

i loved dust an elysian tail so i dont mind them. i like them

I sort of get what you're saying. Sort of how in one scene the face will look flat and in another it will look 3D. I didn't like that either

Yeah, the way the mouths just go up and down sometimes just seems kind of lazy

no it doesn't... well except for 358 :)

I still don't get what you mean by 2D, but it did bug me how in 358, and I think BBS too, how all the keyblades looked flat, as opposed to being 3D as they should be.

Are you talking about animated vs. pre-rendered expressions?  I would assume they're used so much in BBS (And 3D) to save memory since its a handheld.  Separately animating all the bones for one use takes up more memory than static, pre-made expressions used multiple times.  Most of the time they only use the stock expressions and stuff for scenes that aren't vital to express complex expressions in the story (3D seemed to have more animating, iirc), non-closeups, and quick flashes to the face where it doesn't look out of place. Also:  I also vote that Saix has a more terrifying fish-face than Ventus. Especially when it ruins the mood

I understand what you mean. It actually never bothered me until someone pointed it out... Now I find it a little annoying too.

I think what he is claiming is that their faces are painted on instead of having 3D their faces being treated like 3D models. Honestly I haven't looked close enough to tell. The only game I really noticed anything close to that was in the first kingdom hearts. And if he actually meant 2D faces,  my next guess would be for the HP gauges, which I like. Either way I shall say I liked the 2D art in COM. (even though that isn't what this is about)

You mean 2d like this right?

No i think he means when the game goes into a cutscene where the characters are talking with chat bubbles.

Doesn't bug me at all.

I noticed that years ago playing the first game. Always found it annoying.
