KH2 had some pretty firetrucked up moments!!!

That's because it's not his homework and he hasn't heard of it.  He also hasn't thought about school in a while.  Maybe it was summer when KH started.

they never said anything about that, destiny islands has a main town and an island, everyday the kids go off to the island in boats, then they go home to the main town at night.

 

the real mystery is how did sora sail that far as a 13 year old when the storm hit destiny islands at the begining of kh 1, grown men find storms tough to row in and the island is a good bit away lol

The school was in the town, and Sora hasn't been to school in a while, since it was practically a year that he was sealed away to have his memories reconstructed.

Donald and Goofy don't know because they're not from that world and thus, have no idea what 'homework' is.

Destiny islands is a small island off the side of the main island which most likely houses a whole town plus a school.

 

Sora was probably shocked they had homework over summer.  Also he left Destiny Islands at 14 and was out adventuring for ages, he probably was shocked school had rolled round and people had homework instead of doing what he's doing

NOW I FEEL REALLY REALLY BAD ABOUT HOW MUCH I WANNA DO THINGS TO RIKU....
