So, ask any Kingdom Hearts fan. They pretty much unanimously hate Atlantica in Kingdom Hearts II. I get that there's no battling and it's replaced with singing and dancing. However, why does everyone hate it so much?

I'll go ahead and say it, I hated Atlantica in Kingdom Hearts. The controls were sluggish, the mermaid kick ability was hard to use, and the combat was awkward. Plus, there was so much backtracking. First you go to visit Triton, then to Ariel's grotto, then chase a dolphin, then to a ship, go back to Ariel's grotto, then go back to the ship, then to Triton again, then go through the current again. It was ridiculous. I do like the Shark battle, though. Ursula's battles both times were hard to follow and extremely difficult.

Call me crazy, but I actually like Kingdom Hearts II's Atlantica much better than the first game's. It was fun and relaxing. The music was great. Not that the music was bad before, I just like the newer music. The Ursula battle is still a ton of fun.

All I'm saying is, I don't really like Kingdom Hearts' Atlantica and I much prefer the second game's. Please state your reasons for liking/disliking either one.

The singing and dancing is precisely the reason so many people hate it.  It's too out of place and a lot of people just think the singing is cheesy.  There's also how in KH2, it's not even plot relevant.  For better or for worse, you don't need to visit it, so not only is it out of place/cheesy, it's unimportant.

I really like Atlantica in KH2. I am super big fan of music and it was entertaining and relaxing :D

I like both. I played kh2 first

KH2: I like having a break from fighting, I like rhythm challenges

KH1: I liked being able to play in a world previously unplayable to me.

Worlds like KH2 atlantica have a habbit of being ridiculed, like Disney Town or 100 Acre Wood, worlds that are essentially mini game hubs are disliked for being a hub of mini games.

Water levels in general are also disliked, not a lot of companies back them produced good controls for under water

KH1's is my favorite world in the entire series (tied with Symphony of Sorcery) because it's just so awesome, the swimming, the hitching a ride on dolphins, such a fresh change of gameplay and the world is just so big with so many places to explore and it's such a beautiful world I mean it's UNDAH DAH SEA!

KHII, I really liked this one too. It's an RPG we need good minigames to take the edge off for when we need a break from saving the world/universe and it did just that. It also gives you the Reflect spells man. OP stuff. Plus it's Disney at it's most cheesy which you just gotta love! I wish you could explore the world more, perhaps even the land above but sadly no.

KH1: I absolutely love this world. The music was fantastic, the gameplay was a bit challenging, the bosses were fun even as they were annoying. Ursula was annoying, but I found it challenging too and I adored it after I beat her. The whole world was unique and amazing.

KH2: I don't get why it went to singing, I guess for it to be unique, but I love fighting in KH games so the singing was weird to me. It was cheesy too, very cheesy. I like the Ursula Battle song thing though, its like they were trying to offend each other by singing. Its okay, I don't find it that good, but its not even close to the original world. The overworld music is pretty though.

in KH is damn boring

In KH2 is cool. Loved to sing under the sea especially

In the end there are haters everywhere, just dont mind them.

I like both. I LOVE Kingdom Hearts!!!

I hate them both. Just screw Atlantica. I never want to go back there.

I like them both, don't see why most can like one but not the other.

What I love about KH1's ATL is the challenge it gives. It was irritating but satisfying when you beat it. Yes, the backtracking was annoying but the scenery was beautiful, one of the main reasons I loved the world besides the fight with Ursula, the shark, and riding a dolphin.

Believe it or not, I was fine with KH2 turning ATL into a mini game world. I love KH2 but one of its flaws was too much fighting between story progression. It was nice to have a break from it all and just sit back and have fun with the Disney music I grew up with. Whenever I feel like the fighting's a bit overwhelming, I may head to ATL to get it out and then continue on.

I did not like it... Like others said it just felt out of placed.

Here's the reasons why I hate both levels:

KH1

-hard to move

-combat was difficult and boring

-every area you went to looked EXACTLY the same, and it took forever to actually go somewhere

KH2

-Sora should NOT sing and dance... it looks so horrible!

-The music was pretty terrible as well

-There was no combat

-The entire world was like a giant mini-game world

KH1+I liked 3D combat even thought it was hard, I kinda found actively moving in 3D Fun.+I generally liked how the story worked with the over arching one.-It was hard to navigate for you first few play throughs.

KH2+It was nice to see an improved movement system.-You never get to use it for anything.+/- I liked one of the original songs, and was just blatantly annoyed by the other...

-I thought it was stupid to redo the story. Yes, we didn't have prince Eric, but by trying to tell the story this way you make Ariel look like an even bigger idiot than she ever looked like before. "LET ME GIVE THE SEA-WITCH, THAT TRICKED ME INTO GIVING MY DAD'S TRITON, MY DAD'S TRITON!"

And to people saying it is out of place for Sora to sing, think about this, everyone can sing in Disney. Everyone...unless if there is some comedy about them not being able to sing.
