has anybody else ever wondered what riku and sora's parents are thinking like where's my kid are they safe what happend why aren't they here why me etc. well I was thinking what if at the end of the game we finally get to see their parents and they would walk in and be like mom dad im home and they would cry and be like where were you and realize that he's taller and has a deeper voice and what not but thats just me

I would assume so, though maybe they just hid out on that small island eating coconuts, mushrooms, fish, and seagull eggs. (up until the letter in the bottle that is)

This part of the story is really vague if you ask me... Everyone in the islands were supposed to be in a "non-existing" state in KH1, but when Ansem was defeated, they all returned... Everyone's parents should've come back, but after events of CoM, everyone forgets about Sora... It's not known what happened to his parents' memories at this point...

I think they do remember, but somewhat know he's ok... and Sora did return to Destiny Islands in KH2, and probably met them again. Same for Riku and Kairi I guess

Sora and Riku never even MENTION their parents... That always bothered me.

I'd actually expect them to be angry at him.  Not even over his dinner, over the fact without warning or explanation he left.  He didn't even leave a note far as we know.  And his parents scolding him could be used in a comic relief sort of way

Why should we care about their parents? Family is obviously not important when you have friends.

Who's to say Sora and Riku have parents? That scene where Sora's "mom" calls him for dinner doesn't actually mean he has a mom. For all we know Sora's parents could have died and he could have been in an orphanage, and the lady that called him down was head of it.

that's true but im pretty sure riku said something about their parents in the beginning of kh and sometimes friends do seem like family

Yes, Sora does have parents, Riku too, they both mentions their parents once (Sora doesn't, but Riku mentions Sora's parents instead)

And yes, Sora's parents did completely forgot that they even had a son during the events of CoM but in 2, I'm sure they all remembered, although we have no way of knowing that since KH never mentions parents at all.

At least Riku mentions Sora's father in BBS.

And in KH1 Riku says "We may never see our parents again."
