What exactly was the importance of coded?

Play it.

Jiminy's journal, or Data-Naminé, or something needed tell Mickey that Sora is connected to Terra, Aqua, Ventus, Roxas, Xion, Naminé, and that he needs to save them.

Play it.

She might have done so, and didn't quite understand the plot, 'cause there barely is any.

Also, when a Heartless and a Nobody are defeated, the original person returns to be a full body

Yeah we learn that too in the secret ending. Although Nomura mentioned that this was possible in an interview long before Re:coded came out, but the secret ending in Re:coded might have been the first time they officially said it within the game. Unless it was mentioned earlier in an Ansem report.

There a lot of reasons, actually, that aren't quite apparent until someone points them out. But even what's important about it isn't really that important, ultimately.

It offers an explanation for what Mickey was doing between KH2 and DDD, it explains the letter that Sora and Company recieved in the KH2 stinger ending, it expands upon the research into Data that Ansem the Wise pioneered, which is something that was later picked up on by DDD, it put the idea in your head that "maybe gone isn't gone, and that the people who we thought were gone forever might not be." i.e. Roxas and Xion, and the chance that they might come back...

Tieing up loose ends before KH3D.

And... one other thing...

Sora finally gets to Thank Namine.

Nahh. It's Data Sora that thanks Data Namine. So it's not really Sora who did it

Still Sora man. Data or not, his heart is always in the same place. It counts. Namine knows that.

Basically I think the importance is that Data have Hearts and the contents of Mickeys letter (Saving everyone whos lost)  I don't know why a game needed to be created just for that but hey Re:Coded has fun gameplay it's just very bland.

To have another KH game to play.

Every single Kingdom Hearts game matters, EVERY SINGLE ONE. ReCoded is no exception, as it tells of how Mickey eventually got to writing the letter that Sora reads after the KH2 credits. And it leads into KH3D, so it is important. PLAY IT! :D

We finally found out what that letter said.

Recoded was a remake of a phone game that we are lucky we got too play at all, whether it had severe relevance to the story or not shouldnt matter. We are lucky Nomura made the plans to remake it at all.

it had canon releavance but not much it pieces up things DDD and BBSFM patched up anyway.

Data Sora doing what Sora couldnt.
